Hey bboy, oh great memmories you bring up. Its beeb a lobg ride glad to have you aboard. Where are you in the land of Lincoln? I live where you'll find the blackhawk statue. Kinda funny a fellow Illinoisan has been watching all along.

Cool that's the northern end kind of west off of 39 if I remember right. Haven't been that direction in years. I'm more central though, near Champaign-Urbana Think U of I fighting Illini territory lol. (They haven't had a decent record in years now though, ha!)

is there a summary post of all the knowledge/tips/tricks gathered for rayon thus far?

Yes and no... there are a few posts with links back to other posts, but even those can be hard to find.

There should be something like that which gets re-posted every so often or back on Post 1.

Time to get some balls! :D

Tidi Rayon Balls are running low in supply. Last shipment of 2000 Large Balls was delayed for 20 days for me.
I don't suppose that is because I bought five 2000 balls boxes and sent them to the Ukraine already. Is that?

I've got to tell you: Those Balls are awesome! Thanks to JeremyR for pointing it out for me and to you for finding them. I quit using Sally's, just 100% balls for me.

    Rayon sources

Yes tidi rayon balls - large

Link to vetted source - last on the list # ending in 162

[TIDI Cotton and Rayon Balls - MedSupplier.com]

    http://www.medsupplier.com/tidi-cotton-balls-969153-C.aspx

The nuggets (balls) are also available from delasco in medium size. About 10.00 shipped

Here is the link to thier consumer site that you can order from - Delasco - Rayon Balls

Large are better but if you don't want to spend that much and have a huge box, delascos is a good option with similar quality.

If your just looking to get started and try it out the bottle rayon is very good too. Different types of bottles may have rayon but we know that the spring valley melatonin 1mg bottle has rayon filler.

I haven't visited this thread for quite awhile since adopting cellucotton from Sally's, gotta say...it's been many months and I can't imagine anything better for an overall fantastic vape experience, the flavor is as good as it can be in my KF's and it's durability is second to none, it just lasts...rewicking is far less frequent with no discernible loss in flavor, the flavor is actually better on the 4th tankful than on the first.

The OP Jeremy has done that in his blog posts here --> E-Cigarette Forum - JeremyR - Blogs

Check those out and if you still need help come back and post some pics and details of your build/s and the guys will help you out. Little bit of a learning curve but oh so worth the effort! :)

Just an update on the Protank wicking tips you guys gave me, you were right on the money, less is more. The little gap at the slots and trim them short has cured all problems, thank you. I'm really liking this Protank II with the adjustable air flow base, I order a few more and will be finally moving away from my beloved kanger clearo's, I have had zero flooding, leaking or burnt hits and I used both high VG and PG.

I found a great deal on these Protank II's, Sun Vaper's is selling them for $8 and their shipping is $3. Used Protank 2 w/ Airflow Control - Sun-Vapers.com
They do not come with a drip tip and they say they don't come with a coil but mine had a new one, they do come with the adjustable air flow base. These were used for customer's to sample juice, they have been cleaned in an ultra sonic cleaner but I'd give them another cleaning. I found a little staining under the o-rings, inside the glass tank and the air flow ring was stuck wide open. I soaked it in some 409 kitchen spray cleaner and that cut right through the old residue, looked like new and the air ring spins free now.

Sun Vapers also has five packs of coils for $5 and 5 packs of O-rings for base and tank for $1
Kanger Protank eVod atomizer coils for $4.99
O-Rings for the Kanger Protank base.
    Kanger Protank Glass O-Rings - Sun-Vapers.com

They shipped next day, the $3 first class took five days from CA to NY, not bad.

With KGD you can nail the perfect wick (nearly) every time. Even seasoned users might screw up 10% of the time but you'll know as soon as you pull it they your coil - here, watch :

KOH GEN DO WICK - UPDATED PREP & HOW TO PERFECTLY WICK AN ATOMIZER - YouTube

I tend to avoid anything that's man made / synthetic / space age polymer :) I've tried most of the wicking mediums out there and even once got the urge to try the "latest rage" but I find that I like wicking simple, natural and chemical free :)

KGD is all I'll ever use :)

    Just sayin... ... ...

yeah,... I had to re-write my reply so many times I almost gave up... but... I didn't.

    Hey All!

New to the forum, noob to coil building and first post inside Coil Builds. I have made 3 coils to date, all inside a Mini Protank 2. I have an unopened bag of jumbo cotton balls, realized I did not buy organic, so I used whatever is inside my melatonin bottle. I assumed it was "healthier" cotton, but from reading other posts it could be Rayon. How can I tell for sure? (Because of not knowing what it is, I may interchange Cotton with this possible Rayon down below)

Should I even bother using the cotton balls whether straight out of the bag or boil first? Or just pickup some rayon or peaches n cream. I was advised to get peaches n cream from Walmart from a coworker as it may help me wick the coil better as the cotton/rayon I was using plus my inexperience has caused me problems squeezing it into my coils.

If you bought it related to a thread talking about a specific melatonin bottle, it's probably Rayon. If you compare it to your cotton, it should be somewhat clear if there is a difference... but they are going to be about 90% the same either way.

I find Rayon wicks to be the best wicks. Rayon (by the way) is chemically purified ~100% cellulose, cotton is ~90% cellulose with ~10% other stuff (mostly pectin) since it's unrefined plant matter. If you have cotton balls that don't say they are organic, I wouldn't use them... at least you know the stuff from the melatonin bottle was approved to be inside with something you were going to ingest (unlike any cotton balls intended for nail polish removal etc OR KGD brand facial pads). It's not the same thing as being approved for vaping... but it's a start ;)

Are you making a dig at something you consider 'man made' or 'synthetic' or something? Please name names so the rest of us know... I try to stay away from foreign "organic" grown crops simply because I know what they get away with as "organic" "additions" to the soil, etc,. however, since we aren't eating it... should be ok. I wouldn't mind knowing where some of these farms are though in relation to any fallout plots that may be out there... is it really a concern?

I alternate between dasani and aquafina and rarely drink. When I do, I prefer shots of patron. Like I say over and over again, I can vape anything I want but by choice just feel better about vaping natural chem free stuff.

I'm no naturalist believe me. My take on it is I know there's enough harmful stuff in food I eat every day and I rarely even think about it but vaping is different - I try to minimize my exposure to anything I don't feel right about. Especially when I get such a kick AYuss vape doing so :)

So, not sure if you consider the nicotine you vape to also be 'man made' or 'synthetic' or natural chem free... given it's also harvested from a larger pool via chemistry, but it's something to think about :)

Hey Tru, good seeing you. Your dog is so cute.

You still have that rayon feeder? Didn't you use the pen setup for wicking? I was just thinking it was you, can you post a pic?

    @ jimmy

Was that in the microcoil thread?

Er I mean the " latest rage coil" tthrea.

I prefer my coils wrapped naturally organically by hand.

Lol sorry guys had to poke fun...

But really it doesn't matter if they don't give rayon anymore publicity. It speaks for itself each time someone tries it and gets it right.

    Finally!

After rewiking 8 times in the row my first RBA(Lemo Drop) with Rayon, its working as it should... almost. Good juice flow, good flavor. The only draw back is i cant vape it at higher wattage. Not sure if its my wiking or lack of juice flow. Will look at it tomorrow. Right now vaping at 22watts, need to find a way to chain vape with no dry hits at 26watts.
