I don't boil rayon but that's just me. I know there are others who don't but that said I don't see anything wrong w/it- and if it makes you feel better, by all means do it!

I see nothing wrong w/keeping the Ecowool around and I would advise anyone who is switching to rayon to do just that. Just like many things- there are those who like it and some who never seem to get a handle on it. This is more from becoming habituated to cotton I believe, and if you've been using EW, that just means you'll have less cotton habits to "unlearn". The main things to keep in mind is the coil needs to be filled tighter with rayon because unlike cotton that swells, rayon actually settles some and if the coil isn't filled enough, when the wick is wetted w/juice, it may be a bit loose. A loose rayon wick can give a harsh hit from the juice burning off the coil- you're not tasting the wick burning. You can go too tight, this mutes the flavor and has a tell-tail "nutty" taste. The nutty taste may subside after a few pulls if it's not too tight.

The other thing is the tails need to be thinner than what most people wick with cotton use. Tails too thick causes the juice to be pulled away from the coil and this increases the coil gunking. You'll probably have questions after you try it, feel free to post them here.

I have found in my Kanger and Pro Tank builds, when I get the nutty taste at the start it's going to be a good wick. To get past the nutty I'll blow back through my atty three or four times letting the mod time out and shut off, really creates so fog LoL. If it's still nutty after that, I've stuffed way too much and it's likely to go south after a day or so. If the nutty is gone after the first few rounds it usually will pick up even more in flavor as it breaks in further. That's been my experience, YMMV.

Alright Tony, I relented at 255-276ml+.

I went messing with my juice and feeder wicks on the FEV. Got warm out so wanted to go 100vg and change the mesh feeders for a little more flow.. Well first had a nasty taste from the new mesh, messed with those burned em off. Then wasn't wanting to wick from the tank, then the temp dropped 40 degrees and the 100vg was too thick many dryish hits, finally got it wicking well but the flavor was off so I decided to finally rewick..

This wick had at least 100+ dry/ partial dry coil hits on it. Winter lots of changing temps thickening the VG , subzero conditions, and slowing/ stopping the wicking from the the tank. Plus it's a full stainless Atty, no juice window. Plus when I first wicked it I said it was too thin too, needed to be more dense.

So here it is.

The vaping Gods have decided that I should rule at 272ml.

You can all change your wicks at 270ml because after that, the gods won't let you go further :D

Regarding the new source... Pillows? :D

Today I was shopping with the wife... Well, sort of... She was shopping and I was controlling the kids, vaping and looking at the store displays lol.

Anyway, while I was walking I saw a pillow and mattress shop and they had some 100% viscose pillows on display... The first thing that occurred to me was: I wonder if I could slice that pillow up and use the viscose for wicking.... Lollllll

Lol, well I can see that it will go 300ml.!. Even 325. Just got to have some decent vaping conditions. The last one was really abused hard and it made it around 270s..

The pillow, it would need to be untreated, it could have added bedding fire safety additives

The new source I'm testing is actually much smaller than a mattress...

I doubt it will be something easy to get in Europe... Oh well...

Going to order a pack of tidi balls, a pack of fiberfreaks and a roll of titanium.

Be right back :)

Well the verdict is its good.. New local cheap source to try. Good for people that just want to try rayon or as a primary source.

I've got kotex U sleek in the black box. Labeled 100% rayon, elemental chlorine free bleached. (Safe), rayon/ poly string, package.. Any of these labeled similarly should work.

Its inexpensive and readily available. One ends up being quite a bit probably 10-20 wicks depending. It reminds me, looks the same as the pharmaceutical rayon. Same dry look and feel, I think its essentially the same. Its vaping very good.

Neutral taste. This is out of the box clean. You may however, if you wish, soak it in water for a minute or rinse and dry out by patting with paper towels. This should remove any remaining manufacturing residue, or residual bleaching agent.

There is a layer of wrapping around the outside you remove and then unroll it.

From here on I will refer to it as KU Rayon

Looking at the striations...that's not the direction the fibers run, right?

Well this wicking turned out nice. I was running 6.4v 30w to single 1.4 28g.. This wicking job with tighter/proper density I've ran it up to 7.4v ! 40w without getting any burning in the FEV. Also wicks are running till dry like they should.

It looks exactly like the bottle rayon in these pics.

Here's the quick video I made today. Just had a few minutes to wick... set up my phone haphazardly and recorded this video.

Video turned out pretty decent with audio... Uploaded in high quality this time. Orientation sucks but next time..

I went a little too tight at the end but it vaped out after a short bit. The wick taste is neutral. Its vaping great!

A Look at KU Rayon in the second half.

Rayon Wick Tutorial, with twist method.

lol... dang, why didn't I see this BEFORE I went grocery shopping for the week. I'll be giving it a shot. I like how it comes individually packaged for easy 'on the go' storage.

teehee, I just got a flashback of that Poise commercial, where they "recycled a period pad" into a baby alligator.
