Vin,

I don't know what a stminis is but I dremeled out one of my Lemos the other night and it made a giant improvement in the ability of the wick to... well, wick. Oh and I cut the wick length about a 32nd of an inch about the juice deck so there is no way the wick can impede juice flow.

With the dremeled juice channel Lemo I polished a complete tank of juice in about four hours last night and never had any problems hitting TP which was set at 450F.

Which is why I have high hopes for the Cthulhu RTA V2 (if I ever get the darn thing) which already has giant juice channels.
stmini=subtank mini by kangertech.
the dremelled out juice channels do make it a completely different tank, better atomizer in all respects but that leads to more juice consumption which is why i diy my juice.
even though my tails are literally i/2 the size of whats in the coil, i still thin and trim excess tail thats barely sit on the deck

+1 on the dremel-ed out channels. IMO it seems as if it allows ample juice flow to the wick. It could very well be that exchainer's problem might be weak juice flow. I do remember my KF (3.1) channels being really thin as compared to the KF4 and the ST mini.
I think the biggest problem is that 90 degree offset coil. My KFL, 3.1 and 2.1 all wick and vape perfectly with the coil setup the proper way. No modifications are needed to the juice channels as they really are designed as a MTL setup.

Idk mine work just dandy without modding them. I only vape at 20 watts though but it's satisfying for me.

The final exact deminsions of the width and density of the main wick and tail will depend on many things including your vape style.

The most efficient is leaving as little in the tails as possible. But it's not a deal breaker there's a lot of different things that affect how much of a tail starts to become a hindrance. The main factor being length and sharpness of bends. Also the atty.

The black chunks are what would be gunk. They are innocuous and don't seem to add any fouling to the juice.

This is the self cleaning benifit of the rayon. Not only does it produce very low levels of gunk but any that may form, from coil overheats, is blasted off by the super efficient vaporization.

If you have an excess of black bits its a sign that your plain overheating it a lot. Either running dry by accident or too much temperature for your air flow or juice.

Mine is pretty speckled right now from running it up at like 550° and running dry a few times before I noticed.

Because everyone in this thread is just so awesome and I've never gotten a bad recommendation from y'all, I got a question.
A friend of mine is coming up this weekend because he wants to switch from cigs to vape. He's an electronics tech and learns quick, so I have no problem setting him up with more complex systems... the question is, what is a good, solid box mod with replaceable batteries (18650), TC isn't necessary but nice to have. Prefer something pretty durable, not too fidgety and glitchy. Price isn't too much of an issue...
I'll probably set him up with a tank of some variety and maybe an RDA... depending on what's available at the shop. And of course he ain't leaving my house without 100' of rayon! :D

(Also suggestions for tanks are greatly appreciated but not necessary. I'm thinking something with replaceable coil heads for now, he'll have time to play with an RDA before moving on to an RTA.)

Sitting down, facing forward.
For durability I'd suggest the Invader Mini. No question it's tougher than the average box mod, by far, has plenty of power and TC if he wants to go there. It does have that stupid "fall asleep" problem and can lose the power setting if not "woken up" properly, but if he's a tech that won't be a problem, it doesn't bother me much at all and my tech days are long behind me now.

Yeah, if they have one at the shop, I'll probably point him to it. I LOVE mine, thanks to your previous suggestion!! Mine doesn't seem to have any problems with losing the power setting, and wakes up with 5 clicks no problem. But yeah, he's a pretty sharp guy and picks up on things pretty quickly, so I agree that he wouldn't have a problem with it. I just don't expect that they'll have it in the shop. I want to get him set up with something this weekend and then he can upgrade on the internet. I expect to find MVPs, Joyetechs, maybe a Snow Wolf or something there... kinda gonna be a crap shoot, so I figured I'd see what y'all suggested and compare suggestions to inventory, ya know?

Don't forget the Koopor Mini at $35 dollars it is darn hard to beat and it does TC or PWR. I know they won't have it at your local B&M but it is still something to consider.
I am using one and I am truly impressed with it.

Well, today it happened...

After 11 months and 8 days of 24/7 use of my rayon packed erlprinz, suddently, during a draw, I could feel droplets of my e-juice in my mouth and the atty started to leak on its bottom.

I was shocked. I looked up to the sky and screamed:

WHY RAYON GODS, WHY? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS? DID I NOT PRAYED TO YOU EVERY NIGHT? DID I NOT SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE POWER OF RAYON? WHY RAYON GODS, WHY?

I then slowly lowered my head in dismay when I suddently noticed I forgot to close the juice / pressure relief holes on my erlprinz after the last refill

I quickly moved on while dozen of people were staring at me in the middle of the mall where all this happened [emoji15]

In that case, the venerable MVP is probably a good, relatively, economical choice. Good performance and a big enough battery to last a day or so. I have Cool Fire 4 and it's a pretty solid little device as well.

I know the MVP doesn't, but does the Cool Fire use 18650s? I'd rather get him a set-up that he won't have to wait for charge, he could just have spares on stand-by. I'll get him set up with one, and suggest a backup (and more backups!) for him to purchase as soon as he can.

Hmmm... haven't seen that one... may have to check it out as well. Thanks!

The CF4 has an internal, nominal 2000mah, battery. You mentioned the MVP in your original post an that lead me to the CF4. As long as he has at least one backup, he'll be OK with either if that's what you end up with.

Yeah, we'll have to look at the shop's prices. If they don't have one with interchangeable batteries, the maybe I'll just convince him to grab 2 fairly inexpensive boxes so he'll have a back-up ready to go and rotate with... Either that or just throw a 200W Snow Wolf at him and say "Good Luck!"
On the plus side, he could probably jump start his car with that thing!

eVIC VT regular or mini topped with a Subtank mini.

eVIC Gives you the option of 18650 or LiPo. LiPo has killer battery life. USB charging too.

Gives you the ability to do VW and Ni/Ti TC mode.

IMO the subtank is the best on the market for newbies. Can get into rebuilding or buy factory coils.

Being a techie that is what I'd want recommended to me.

Less fuss and the price should be around $100-$125 for the whole setup B&M prices.
