Hey guys,

yes I'm new to this game...

However I found this morning while taking the advice from a member to extreme,,, I packed my rayon with a lot of density.
After pulling the rayon through my micro coil, the coil just jam packed squished together so much more tightly... Definitely due to the high density of the rayon wrap, or wick.

The high density wick allows you to definitely successfully insert a true micro coil into an aerotank mini.

Any thoughts to add? Imma noob so I'll soak in anything anyone has to say.

Squeezing a sponge reduces the amount of liquid it can hold. That will not work. At all. Please watch some youtube videos on building this kind of stuff. It will save you and us a lot of time. Not trying to be rude, but seriously, there are some great videos out there that will teach you a lot. And don't feel bad, my first wick was way too tight also.

Smann245, thx for the extra post to make sure I see your comments and statements.

I figured the extra squeeze wud have some kind of negative "side effects," hah,,, I'll prolly remove this thread... though it hasn't given me any probs yet. Rayon acts more like a transporter, making it more efficient than cotton for some vaporists.
I haven't been pulling on it heavily yet while I am a constant all day vapor kinda guy. The first 5+, 10 pulls on it tasted good and vaped well. Though I haven't given it enough testing time to make a significant evaluation.

I'll definitely check out some vids and be sure to "save your time."
Feedback is one reason why I posted, as I mentioned in my post... as a noob. Clearly I've wrapped a handful of wicks and trying different things to please my preference and this is not my first wick. Common sense says to wrap a low density wick, on the contrary of your first attempts.

Yeah you're gonna choke the wick. The wick swells when it gets wet and then you'll begetting dry hits. You need about half that much cotton. You want to be able to move the cotton back and forth relatively easy when it's dry.

With full understanding that wick should not be tight it took me several attempts to find out that “not tight” means as little cotton as possible.

Cotton? The OP specifically states that he is using Rayon. ;)

While I agree that his use of Rayon is a bit excessive. Rayon shrinks unlike cotton which expands. Therefore you should use approximately 40% more Rayon than you would with cotton.

Head on over to, Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit! for tips.

While it may wick better than cotton when squeezed, more fibers in a space means less room for other stuff in said space. Good enough and optimum aren't the same thing. Others may be reading this. Would chain vaping at higher watts with 100% vg on that wick still work good enough? If you're going to tell us we're all incorrect, then be more specific about what is correct. And preferably ideal for the material, not good enough.

Sorry, Smann... like I said, I wasn't trying to start anything, was just trying to be funny... but let me put it this way... I have a .17 ohm dual coil in my Tobh right now. The material that is inside the coil is as tight as I can get it without deforming the coil. The tails are super thin... 15-25% of the density that is inside the coil. On a fresh battery, that is roughly 104W and just shy of 25A. I can fill the well with 100% VG straight from the bottle (not thinned out with anything) and vape the well dry without a single dry hit.
I also have a genesis atty that is wicked with rayon... 20pg/80vg. Coils read at .4 ohms, and I can empty the tank with no dry hits and I don't have to tilt the genny to get every last drop out of it, either. Check out the thread that xpl0it provided the link for.... you will find many tips on how to use rayon in various toppers, and most pack the coil pretty tight. That's just the way that rayon works...

Glad that I could clarify things a bit more. If you haven't tried rayon for wicking yet, I really do recommend it. Far superior to cotton and silica IMHO.
And do check out the rayon thread... it's gotten quite long, but there are some very helpful folks over there.... JeremyR is awesome! :)
