does anyone know which cheap dmm I can get to give me a super rough gauge as to whether I’m above an ohm? I know the wraps and whatnot so if im using 28 @ 6 it should be close to 1.2 (if I remember) so I just need something to tell me the atty is responding correctly. Even if it’s way out, just a rough guide so I know it’s working and I’m safe

You can get something like a coil master 521 tab mini or v2 which is decent and also lets you dry burn your coils as well. They run about $15 in the US not sure net to you local or through FT for a better price. There are some cheap resistance testers on FT as well that are as low as $7 but I wouldn't vouch for them in build quality. Bare bones is fine but you may end up replacing it when it breaks in no time.

Any local hardware store should have something accurate enough.

Remember to short the leads to determine the "drift" of the meter.
Subtract the "drift" from your reading.
I like to push the probe tips onto the tops of the posts or into the screws.

Thanks mate. I got these two. One on the left seems iffy, don’t read voltage of batts properly. One on the right is newer but I have it set to 200 (which is the lowest) on the ohm setting. That would be right wouldn’t it? Just doesn’t work either then I guess?

Do you have fresh batteries in the units?
I find the cheap meters come with even cheaper probes.
A decent set of probes is a better up grade than another cheap meter.

Zutankhamun, use on your built atomiser and not the coils themselves. As this is the reading that you need to find.

It's not the resistance of your coil or coils that you need, that has to be done during your build.

Set multimeter at lowest ohm setting, touch the thread of your atomiser with one probe and then touch the central pin with the other. This will give you the ohm reading of your atomiser and coil or coils, that your mod will read with a small margin of error. And from what I've been reading specially made coil reading devices make some bold claims on accuracy, so a cheap multimeter seems just as good and more important is cheaper.

Thank you. Yeah, I know the build and I’m pretty sure it’s fine but I’d like to test it before firing. Yeah, exactly the way I tried. Just no good anymore. I’ll try and pick up some better probes as izan suggested.
Thanks

Zutankhamun, what I was saying is that you could us a 510 connector that is the same as yours and many other mods to make your own coil test bench. You can buy them online from places that sell parts to make mods.

So then all you would have to do is connect to a multimeter and attach your atomiser to your test bench to get your ohms reading.

Wow, this conversation is making me feel really dim. I’m gonna delete this when I understand what you mean.

I can’t attach the atty via 510 as it doesn’t have one. It connects directly to the battery and I’d only need the dmm to connect to the pos and neg.

Course.

It’s a heron hybrid atomiser from Vapourart. Company is long gone now though. I did have the 510 version but had an issue and I got this hybrid but cant ever test and that was the issue with the 510 version. It was firing too low so now I’m para

So it attaches via the threading on many mechs, and the pos pin connects directly to the battery
