G'mornin' Cappy and crew!
Coffeedrinker.gif

Sure do love me some wood porn in the making! Lookin' nice there Cappy. Sure hope the newer woods aren't givin' you too much of a headache. Look forward to seeing them come together!!

Well, here are the parts for batch 14. Lots to do yet. I have to finish cutting the panels, then make panel channels in the back of the boxes and glue in the back panels. Next I will start working on the insides of the boxes, that will take a couple more days right there ... the prettier I make 'em, the longer they take. Arrr

Good morning crew, fine weather for smooth sailing in my waters. As if I don't have enough batteries to worry about, the one in my car died last night. I'll have to keep her in port and find another ship to ferry me to AutoZone. Arr, why must life hinder my ecig budget!

Most definitely! On the weed topic, we just had three days straight of rain after a dry spell, so the weeds exploded and the grass isn't far behind. I'll make my little brother cut it... :p

Quoting that one more time is totally useless, but I wanted to see it one more time :wub::wub:

What is the blueish/green wood in the new batch picture?

Also, that Flame Box Elder is beautiful!!! Will you do any with Canary Wood?

The green is Box elder burl. It was weird seeing all the green dust it kicked up when I cut it to size, lol.

I can put canary on my wish list if you want :)

Do you think that Box Elder burl will stay green? Oh, no, I know where this is leading...

It should turn considerably darker once it has some finish on it actually, first time I've used it .. we shall both see what happens :)

Capt', being I'm new round here I'm not sure of protocol. I was wondering if you have or will be announcin' what types of mods will ye be offerin' in batch 14? And what is that beautiful darker wood in the back row second from left?

If it turns out like other burls I've seen, it will be BEAUTIFUL! I'm hoping that the finish will darken to more of an emerald green....wouldn't THAT be the shiz!! I think that green would look REALLY REALLY good with a canary wood body too!!

Ok...I'd better shut up...I'm probably goading you into buying another mod huh? LOL!!!

Dmorr....I use Howard ''Feed n Wax" on all my wood mods...at least once a month. Cappy used a Carnuba wax on the last batch before sending them out so if THAT'S what's currently on yours, you could keep using that. If, however, you've already applied something else to the wood, then you'd have to get that off before using the wax (Cappy can correct me on this, but I believe it's what he posted awhile back).

Hey Cappy and crew!!! Can someone help me out? I love my wood and want to keep it looking clean and beautiful. What can I use to preserve its beauty? I think I saw something a while back on the thread but can't find it now. BTW This thread is awesome!!! So many really nice people and the Capt'n is great!! I may not say much but this is one thread I keep open. RSM pirate for life!!!

Cappy usually posts pics of his finished batch here before posting them to his website, there by giving us first dibs ;)
That wood that you're speaking of sure looks like Cocobolo to me DD. I have a Cocobolo Destroyer and its a beautiful work of art!!

Here's what the wood looked like when I first received it:

And here's what it looks like since it's been exposed to air/light/etc...it's darkened up to where the yellows and oranges have darkened and it's now predominately a deep mahogany red and black color:
