Ahoy and good morning all!

Yeah, exactly the problem, too much voltage drop at high amps. A circuit that drops only a small voltage can't handle the high current people are using lately, and a circuit that can handle the high current drops way too much voltage so the dna would quickly think the battery was depleted when it was not.

Thanks for the data, it confirms what I've found so far.

Well, back to work on the batch again today, happy Wednesday! arrr

If I am reading this correctly the FET is causing bairly any voltage drop .01-.02 two one hundredths of a volt is hardly enough to not use it. Here is her quote from just a couple posts later

"I did and voltage drop is essentially the same (the same or 0.01 - 0.02 volt difference) with the FET vs without. So this is definitely great news as it means the FET isn't affecting load and is only providing reverse polarity protection.

It also means the AW 18650 batt doesn't hold up well under load with the DNA20D running at higher watts. At least using a mod with the DNA20D and a single 18650 batt. A voltage drop >.4 @ 15W is significant. Dual 18650 batts in parallel, of course with the doubled max discharge, hold up well under load at higher watts.

I now have it in my Denali DNA20D mod that has dual 18650 batts and also my Sam mod with a single 26700 MOLI batt. Both are working great with this FET! I am so in my comfort zone now with having reverse polarity protection for these mods."

Custom mod ordering

On that page there you can choose a model you're interested in. After selecting, the next page has a bunch of options to choose from as far as body and panel wood species, as well as switch/catch cup colors.

As the batch is in progress and preorders are closed at this moment, all you can really do is play with the options and get a feel for what's available until the next round opens up. There will most likely be new wood to choose from for the next batch to look forward to also :D

I don't want to bore you all to death with newb questions, so is there a place where I can read about how the order process goes? Like does he just say ok i will make 100 boxes and then you get to get locked into a preorder and then choose your woods/options or is it like here are 100 boxes i have buy at will?

Cappy will open up orders for a set amount of time or certain number of mods. During that time you'll fill in that preorder page with your wood and other options. Batch production will commence shortly after the time/mod # is met and 4-6 weeks (usually) later when the batch is complete they get shipped out to the loving hands of their new owners.

Ask away my friend! Always happy to help :D

Ahoy! End of ol' cappy's day here, been a busy one.

Sounds like I need to write up a FAQ for the website, maybe even post it here for new shipmates. Maybe answer some of the basic questions that we don't think about anymore. Thanks for helping him out me 'earties, arrr

Kinda been in overdrive today. I lost a mod, Fatality!

Fortunately, it was one of two orders that did not use unique wood so I was able to quickly backtrack and grab another box, make some panels and whatnot. The back panel is glued in and drying and tomorrow I will route out the inside then it will almost be caught up with the others. Whew........close call.

Have a nice evening all, time to shut down here. arrr

Some quick pics. I don't have enough stuff to fill them all up but wanted to throw a couple pics up. I really need a Caddy for my RSM's but hoping to get one for both and possibly a future DNA20 feeder

VERY nice!! You need to buy more stuff to fill em all up! LOTS more stuff! LOL! ;-)

Ahoy!

Good morning me 'earties, happy Friday.

Good morning crew!

May be time to restart the thread as you mentioned before. Make the first post an updated model information/preorder faq. With all the new model and what have ya going on right now :D

Fatality? Oh no! The the sully lass have a wee bit too much o' the captains charm?

Probably a good idea, but I'll wait until I have the model designs fully worked out and everything is stable again. Lots of things I need to work out at the moment, I've mentioned things I want to do but in some cases I haven't figured out yet how to do them, heh.

Yeah, fatality, poor lass. No hope for her I'm afraid, she's joined our friend Davy Jones in the vape lounge of the depths.

I've received the koa DNA cutlass that was available on the website. I really like koa

Now the RSM family looks like that :

And a cocobolo cutlass II will join the family in a couple of weeks :D

Ahoy! I hope everyone has survived the long weekend safe and sound while having loads of fun!

I took a vacation from the thread but back to work I go too.

It's almost time to open up pre-ordering, but I'm still in doubt as to what models will be offered. I want to finish up this Cutlass with the DNA20 before I offer them to all hands. I better delay it for a couple days more even though I plan to ship the batch by this coming weekend or Monday at the latest.

Have a great short week me 'earties! Arrrrr

Will you be posting pics of the Cutlass DNA 20? And you could always send one to me for eval if you wanted :D

Ahoy!

I keep forgetting we have a short week.

I will post pics of the Cutlass20 with the rest of the batch, but it's virtually identical to the Cutlass12 except on the inside electronics cover plate there is a display and buttons for setting the wattage.

I'm impatiently waiting for the mods to dry so I can get on with building them but it's taking longer than I anticipated. Must be all the rain we've been getting slowing things down!

Giving me time to catch up on other stuff though, repairing my hobby cnc machine and doing maintenance on the other equipment. I also have a couple of new desk caddies to finish too so I can get them up on the website for sale. Desk caddies pay the bills between batches and summer sales are really slow, arrrr....

Having only one good eye anymore (and not blurry like a bilge rat on a binge) is not really slowing me down on the day to day stuff, but it is making soldering a bit of a challenge.

Later 'gators
