Oh yeah, forgot to respond to your last question. There are a handful of other boards available, I am waiting on a delivery atm of a common switching regulator (might be the same one Brad and others are using) to test fit for the Cutlass upgrade. There are not very many choices we have when it comes to premade regulator boards out there. These things are triple the price of the MV circuit board tho, but high-end is high-end I guess, tho I keep trying to hold the price down the demand for top end parts is gonna kill the bottom line :(

Ah, that's what I was looking for. OK, I think I'll wait to see if the move to switching regulator is made and then splash down with ones of these. That 502 is awfully tempting though. Definitely after this upgrade I'm jumping on one that has that African/Silverback/Black-on-black appeal. -Magnus

Is the switching regulator you are talking about the one used on the Monkeyboxx mod? Does anyone know how it's going to affect battery life and performance on the mods made by our Captain?

I don't know what the MB uses, I think Brad uses this type on the grip if I'm not mistaken. I've read that battery life is longer due to more efficiency, but they are also a much larger package and much more expensive.

Batteries are the cheapest disposable item in the mod and will last for many many months of use and recharges. Does getting more vaping time per charge offset the extra cost? Probably it does but it's not a huge factor to me.

I do have a couple types on order and will play with fitting them into the Cutlass mod in future batches. If I have to do a redesign of the box to accommodate them then it is going to be some weeks before anyone sees one up for sale.

Well I don't have all the figures but I think that if battery life gets a decent enough increase than you should consider implementing them in the future, maybe not on the next batch but some time farther ahead. What I think is more important is to have some sort of knob that lets you adjust voltage without having to use a dedicated screwdriver of some sort.

Down the rabbit hole..
Haarun both the Grip and the Monkey Boxx use switching regulators but that being said you use a screwdriver to adjust both of their voltages....
as far as performance you don't get a cutoff if you take more than a 4-5 second draw...and they don't run as hot as linear does.
Hope this helps ....:)

But I have to have SOMETHING for future mods, for people to look forward to :)

There is another problem, I read of people complaining of accidentally hitting a dial and throwing off their settings, and I read of people who complain that the adjustment knob got broken off, or catches on things. I don't know sometimes which way to turn and it's impossible to offer every variation that people might want. The best I can do is offer what seems to be the most popular options and hope thats good enough for the rest of the crowd

For me a 2mm allen works great. You can put it place in the pot & it will stay in place, and adjust to taste. Full turn, 1/2 turn, 1/4 turn. Once you find your sweetspot remove it from the pot and throw it back on the magnets in the door. ( this was not standard at the time. I did this as a mod to the mod) :) For me, the 2mm allen works better than a screwdriver. ;)

It was not in my intentions to diss on the excellent job you are doing, I was just trying to fathom any possible new implementations to your next models, tough thing to do since it seems you have everything covered. I know, I have to sit down quietly as I wait for my savior ship to rescue me from this remote and lost island named "Reo Mini". Oh wait I see a ship coming. I'M HERE, PLEASE HELP ME. I'M HERE...Damn they didn't hear me, they are leaving...SOD YOU "TITANIC", HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!!!

I'm at dinner but this caught my eye.

No dial. Please.

I need the switching because of my vaping habits. Battery life and warmth are nice side effects but mostly it's for the chain vape long draw habit I've developed.

No dial. Worth saying twice. ;-)

Three coats tung and one Briwax worked fantastic on my Brad mod.

Captain has the aesthetics down to a beautiful art. Dial will hose it right up. Did mention no dial? -Magnus

@ Lazerrred. It looks cool, good thinking. I hope the latest batch has something of some sort for storing a tool similar to the one you have in your pic. Thank you.

There is a magnet attached to the back of the door for holding an adjustment tool.

I just received a bunch of mini-screwdriver bits today, but they are the wrong darn size! I don't know why I am having such a hard time part-sourcing a simple 1/8" slotted powerdriver bit? I have wasted so much time looking, including trips to Lowes and Home depot and stuck out.

That said, I will be sending out the doors with magnets, but not the stupid 50 cent bit that should be included with it, grrrr....

If anyone can find a supplier of a 1/8" flat-head (.125" or #2 slotted) power driver bit, please shoot me a link :(

In all likelihood, I will stick with the adjustment hole, it is foolproof. I am not sure what changes I will have to make if I adopt a different regulator package into the box tho.
