Okey doke, #2 it is. What about end cap woods?

I'm still struggling to choose...
I noticed you normally use lighter color for the end cap woods and I think they look better that way.
Cocobolo looks amazing but it probably doesn't match with the marble wood well...
I'm thinking either Leopardwood, or Zebrawood would be a nice match.
wait... bocote? no.. black walnut? or even Wenge!!

Arrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!!!!! :-x

I could also make the whole box out of marblewood, box and ends. Also Wenge Might look great as it would bracket the pretty marblewood in black edges.

One last self bump. Ziricote #1, Marblewood #2 and the Zebrawood are taken. I can take 3 more preorders by tomorrow afternoon, then I will make what I want if those slots are not filled by someone.

I don't know if this will work, but I took a picture of the boxes I cut out today.

There are 20 total cut. The first run of VV with the new regulator will be limited to 4 plus one preorder for 5 total.

The next run after that will use up the rest of the boxes that I cut today.

The base price will stay the same for VV at $169 using the new regulator. On the picture I added the name of the wood type and the additional cost (+5/10 etc.) that choosing that wood type will add to the total. This is the only choice that will change the price. You could also let me know that you wanted a 3.7v or something other than VV.

Base prices - 3.7V $119
3.7V +LED $139
VV $149
VV +LED $169

I was thinking of also taking a similar picture of end cap woods all labeled and arranged for choosing them the same way. They do not add to the cost irregardless of what type is chosen.

Edges of mods can be either Rounded, Smoothed Octagon, or sharp octagon/beveled shaped.

The only other thing to choose would be either Nickel switch/CC, or Gloss black switch/CC. I would by default put the larger CC on them unless requested to use the small or none at all.

What do you think? Would a system like this work for preorders? I could take a picture of available woods prior to the beginning of each batch and be able to adapt to my changing wood supply and still provide pictures and examples. Any unclaimed boxes at the start of the batch would just get built as usual and go up on the website for sale.

Edit: Adding the end cap woods available

Here are the other options;

p.s., also this way you can see the actual box that will be your mod when finished not just an example

Cappy, like I said in pm, if you get more orders, put my box on hold and get the new shipmates theirs, OK?

That is very kind of you, what a dear! I will do that only if I get 4 more preorders by tomorrow afternoon, but the odds of that are probably small and only if they are new crewmembers to the Red Sky.

ah i get it, so i don't have to jump in the first 5 to get one:thumb:

Aye lass, all the new ones should have switching regulators in them. That exposes ( heh, heh, he said exposes) a problem though. With this regulator, a Switch/CC combo that would be hard to beat, the nicest exotic woods I can find, what do I have left to do?

I'm used to staying up late at night, thinking, planning, worrying, etc .... I am going to need a new problem to solve! World hunger? global warming? The worlds addiction to smoking? Wait, maybe I can help on that last one :D

Sorry...sometimes I babble ... arrr

You could always figure out how to make a boosted VV juice feeder so no more battery stacking. I think it would be a first in a wood mod.

I actually have looked into it, the only one small enough that I found premade only handles 2 amps max, to get up to the current we need the package size was way to big. If you come across something around .6" x 1" x 2" or less let me know :)

So I took the VV I won to softball last night to show everyone after the game. I still don't have batts so I couldn't show it to it's full potential (soon) BUT..............after crawling out from under the bleachers (they must have thought I had gone crazy and had a bomb detonator) they all agreed that it looked great and Cappy, they were amazed that you could make these. Even non-smokers appreciate your craftsmanship.
