The only blue county in Texas!
and I'm thinking that purpleheart with box elder might look nice. Or maybe purpleheart with something dark?

My experience with bottom feeders is my reo mini. Anybody who can compare the two?

I have some research to do! I will be reading through this massive thread. Well, partially at least. When will the next run be? Soon I hope..

I have several REO's but I just ordered my Red Sky Cutlass last night so I can't compare the two. I bet Tybin could if she is still lurking.

i'm back. was experiencing some internet problems:glare:

i'd say it's significantly bigger than a mini. it's a different vaping experience.it's about 1/2 inch taller than a regular woodvil and about 3/4 inch wider than a woodvil. it's very comfortable in my hand. have you gone to the website and looked at them? pm brian and he'll give you the dimensions or i'll try to do a search on that. just a sec

On the first page of the website are some videos of the mods, perhaps you can get a feel for the size of the Cutlass model by watching - Red Sky Mods - Home

I will be starting the next run tomorrow late afternoon so tomorrow will be the last day for pre-orders until that batch is finished :)

Thanks again! So, it's not too big. I mean, obviously bigger than my mini but there isn't a small vv bottom feeder that I can find. This seems to be one of the smaller ones. If it's comfortable in your hand, that's a big plus. I'm a girl so smallish hands.

I have looked at the website I'm just terrible at judging size without something for reference. They are beautiful though... trying to picture the purpleheart in my head...

In both the Cutlass videos near the bottom of the main page, toward the end of the vids I am holding a couple of them. My hands are pretty standard sized male hands.

Perhaps I can persuade someone who owns a bunch of types of wood mods to post a pic of them all side by side with some top and side views for comparison as I have never owned anyone else's mod and can't help with that, sorry.

I was at first debating between Monkeybox, The Grip, and Ali'i.

Monkeybox is really great mod, very solid, and he also gives you a personalization by adding engraving of your choice, but it was too thick for me as I need something to carry in my pocket all the time.

So I looked at Ali'i which looks really great and also fits the size I want, but the manufacturer is going through some hard time so there was no garantee when I can get hold of one. And it seemed a bit more fragile compared to other wooden mods.

Then I leaned towards The Grip. Now these are some real fabulous looking mods. Brilliant designs and workmanship. But again the problem was the size. Grip's vv bottom feed mod is too big to carry in pockets. There is also Grip-mini which is smaller but the maker told me it's too small to fit in both bottom-feed and VV. So I had to give up one of 1)size, 2)bottom-feed, or 3)VV. I wanted all three.

I didn't know about RSM the whole time, and when I found out about it everything was fitting my need. Great price, reasonable size with nothing sticking out (all other wooden mods have the switch sticking out from the box except The Grip. RSMs don't), design is subjective but I think it's top class with even on-going improvements as batches progress.

I'm a total newbie to pv world but I looked around alot on wooden mods past couple weeks.
and this is just my :2c: if you're thinking about size.

Being in the electronics game for a long time, I automatically try to pack as much as I can in as small a space as possible, especially with the latest ones.

Inside the mod the end of the switch nearly touches the battery. the battery is against the bottle and tight against the right side. The circuit board is below the switch and the LED is packed inside the end cap along with the kill switch. I think I've packed more into that little space than I had ever thought I could have. I can't see how I could possibly make it any smaller and keep everything the way it is.

From what I have seen, Brad is also packing alot of punch into a small space, no nook or cranny wasted fer sure. Except for the MB, is there any other Wood VV to compare against? There may be but I don't shop around much myself, lol.

there are a few in the works

Variable volt? I could make a smaller box if it was a simple 3.7v, but I wanted a box size that could go any way I wanted during construction, not that it would be much smaller. About 1/3 of the width of the box could be removed if I ran the feed bottle up through the switch contacts, but I couldnt do that unless I made the box with a side mounted door again, like the Mark-I was.

Nah, this is as small as I can make it using the available hardware and I don't compare it to non-VV boxes, not the same category. I'm not gonna worry about it, I'm very pleased with this final design, now I just have to make another 10,000 of them :D

yes there are other wood vv's coming

and yes you should make 100,000 of them:laugh:

New guys? I love seeing this happen, I can't remember a time since I was a kid that someone could make a small living/extra cash from the skill in his own hands like the old tyme clock makers or something. It's almost like a step back to the days of hand crafted art and people actually sitting outdoors with a cup of tea, not glued to the TV or Internet all day long.

I've been researching and there are only a handful of vv bottom fed mods. Ali'l, Monkeyboxx, The Grip, you and The Hog Mod which is a new guy making some nice looking units. His and yours are about the same size. If there are more, I haven't seen them. The Monkeyboxx is too big for me, same for The Grip, the Ali'l seems to take forever to get to you... so for me it was down to the Hog. I only just discovered you tonight (well, the vv - I knew about your box mods) so it's nice to have options now! I am going to check on finances with my husband... so... I have till tomorrow afternoon to get in on this batch?
