I've been researching and there are only a handful of vv bottom fed mods. Ali'l, Monkeyboxx, The Grip, you and The Hog Mod which is a new guy making some nice looking units. His and yours are about the same size. If there are more, I haven't seen them. The Monkeyboxx is too big for me, same for The Grip, the Ali'l seems to take forever to get to you... so for me it was down to the Hog. I only just discovered you tonight (well, the vv - I knew about your box mods) so it's nice to have options now! I am going to check on finances with my husband... so... I have till tomorrow afternoon to get in on this batch?

Yup, tomorrow will work for me, I have to finish up the jigs for making the new style of end caps before I can really get started on the batch.

can you say wood mod junkie:w00t:

I am becoming one I think! I just need more money! lol

Funny, but the old timers to the thread know that the reason I started making these is I could not afford a wood box mod, and nobody would sell me the parts for a DIY kit so the only option was to make my own, and here I am 4 months later :p

if not, just go ahead and delete it

Arrr, thats fun looking at all the other mods out there, with so many to choose from its a wonder I sell any at all.

I've been wanting to do some from the stabilized burl myself, outrageously cool looking, but the stuff is so stupid expensive that I've been putting it off. Maybe I should just let people know that I can and will make a RSM from the wood they supply and knock ten bucks off the base price for them as well. (I need two 1.5"x1.5"x3.5" pieces or one 1.5"x1.5"x7" piece of wood to make a Cutlass).

i don't like that stuff and i hear it's hard on the saw blade but it's becoming popular. me, i want real wood:drool:

good night:)

so far,the vendors using do not seem to take off the price of their total price just b.c someone supplies the wood. they still have all the same labor....dunno ask Brad

Really? I do the same work but don't pay anything for wood, I think knocking at least ten bucks off would be fair.

That's what I did, for the one customer that has provided me with the wood. After all, that is really the cost of my base priced wood going into a mod about $10
Most of the price of a mod is a labor charge, all the components are somewhat minimal ;)

ohhhhhh...
I was just looking at some of those stabilized burls at reosmods site today and yea they look insane!
I have an old semi hollow ibanez guitar with burl mahogany(AM255) and this one eats anything for breakfast as far as look goes.

That's a great idea about the self wood supply. I would totally be in for getting another one in future.
:hubba:

wait... but then I want to get The Grip at some point too... and I'm not rich...

I received my cutlass a couple of days ago, and I love it. I got some regular 510 attys and a couple of ikv 510 canons. I am having trouble figuring out how much juice to put in the canon. With the tilt and shoot method, how long should i push the bottle to get enough juice without flooding it. with the stand and shoot method how many times should i push bottle. I keep getting a burnt taste with the canons. Regular 510 atty working great. I've heard that the canons produce better flavor so i would like to figure out how to use them the right way.

athena best bet would be to ask over in ikenvape land. i have cannons, but they are funny little things. I tend to try not to feed them if i don't have too. prime it up good, but a very small sqoank is all that you want. there is a thread over there that suggestions a certain size danco o ring

You have only been doing this for four months? I'm even more impressed Cap't. Methinks you have come a long way.

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Today is the last day for preorders of the current run. There are 2 spots left.

I don't know if this will work, but I took a picture of the boxes I cut out today.

There are 20 total cut. The first run of VV with the new regulator will be limited to 4 plus one preorder for 5 total.

The next run after that will use up the rest of the boxes that I cut today.

One of the Ziricote and one of the Marblewood boxes are taken already for those preorders.

The base price will stay the same for VV at $169 using the new regulator. On the picture I added the name of the wood type and the additional cost (+5/10 etc.) that choosing that wood type will add to the total. This is the only choice that will change the price. You could also let me know that you wanted a 3.7v or something other than VV.

Base prices - 3.7V $119
3.7V +LED $139
VV $149
VV +LED $169

I was thinking of also taking a similar picture of end cap woods all labeled and arranged for choosing them the same way. They do not add to the cost irregardless of what type is chosen.

The only other thing to choose would be either Nickel switch/CC, or Gloss black switch/CC. I would by default put the larger CC on them unless requested to use the small or none at all.

What do you think? Would a system like this work for preorders? I could take a picture of available woods prior to the beginning of each batch and be able to adapt to my changing wood supply and still provide pictures and examples. Any unclaimed boxes at the start of the batch would just get built as usual and go up on the website for sale.

Edit: Adding the end cap woods available

Here are the other options;

p.s., also this way you can see the actual box that will be your mod when finished not just an example
