Congrats Deejay, i know how much you wanted one. I on the other hand am waiting patiently to get the combination of woods that would make me happy. I am just getting more worried by the day that i will end up with something that will only fit ultrafire 16340 ( and with all the trying and being nice, i cannot even look at ultrafires , they dissapoint on all levels ).

I see we have a huge battery-know-how problem on this thread. Using high drains on VV is not practical, if you over-discharge them 2-3 times, you can throw away your precious AW IMRs. High drains are the best batteries to use in mechanical mods, not VVs. Using protected is the only hassle-free way to go, the under-load maintenance work is done by the circuit, no over-discharge problems because the protection circuit kicks in ( even if one of the two has defective PCB, the other kicks in and stops the device ), and they have more capacity (mah) for the circuit to work with.
Ultrafire and Trustfire are the cheap alternative, but trustfire is way ahead of ultrafire on all counts, more mah, more amps delivered, still weak compared to an AW protected tho.
I see people mentioning 880mah on 16340 and 1200mah on 18350 .. those figures are WAY WAY over the actual mah of the battery.
None of the owners could tell me what circuit is precisely inside, but Brian mentioning linear on a quite old model makes me think he uses switching regulator on the recent models, wich improves the time between battery recharges by quite a lot and keeps the circuit a lot cooler.

I REALLY want a cutlass and i am sure no matter what the changes ( dimensions / manufacturing time-saving changes / aspect related ) i will end up owning a gorgeous unique piece of functional art.

Morning All,

I also managed to bag a Cutlass from the site this morning so it is a wonderful morning and another RSM making her way to this side of the pond :)

Regarding batteries, I get on just fine with AW 18350 IMR's and my VV mods :2cool:

The extra bonus with the Cutlass is that you can easily avoid over-discharge by simply checking the voltage (don't forget to remove your atty first!)
