I'm partyed out from Sat & Sun "old age"lol. So I put together a pot of homemade vegtable soup.Its simmering now. I'm just being lazy the rest of the day.lol

Very stressful especially when it is my fault.
We had to give him an enema. He has been to the vet twice for one and we have had to do it twice now. Don't laugh. Most laugh if we ever tell them but it really isn't funny and is quite painful for him. Makes him vomit and meow in pain. I'm still shaking cause it scares the (now you can laugh) "crap" out of me to do that to him. But the vet wouldn't have been able to see him for hours and we didn't want him to be in so much pain plus the vomiting makes him dehydrated.
He has chronic kidney failure and we give him fluids at least every other day. But, the fluids go through him pretty quickly and not enough stays in his bowels so he gets constipated. So we give him lactulose which is supposed to draw more moisture to his bowels.
That does help a lot and we got a Pet Fountain and he does drink more on his own that way and stupid me thought he was doing so well with it that I could save a few dollars and give him the lactulose just once a day instead of two times.
Obviously I was wrong.

Thank you tierrataz. He is feeling better now but tired I think from the vomiting and the stress. We will have to give him fluids soon and he won't like it and I hate to do it when he is already tuckered out but he needs it. We all hate it but it usually perks him up so I am hoping it will now.

We got a new addition to the family last night, a rescue dog brought down from the north country for us by a friend. Originally named Franklin, but will probably rename him, 2 year old rough Collie. Ain't he a handsome fellow?

He is beautiful Capt' (or should I say that yes indeed he is a handsome fellow) and good for you for taking a rescue. I grew up with Collies and if I can ever have another dog, it will be a Collie.
One thing I have noticed on ECF is that many have rescue pets. It's one of the things I really enjoy about ECF even though it isn't vaping related and I give a shout out to every person with a heart big enough to take care of our rescued furry friends.

SD, so sorry to hear that. It's tough when they require us to be that type of care giver. I hate to do the painful things to my dogs too. Sometimes I feel like an RVT. Wonder is SQ fluids daily would keep bowels more regulated? Might want to discuss with your vet.

I hear ya my beagle took 2 months and the rottie 1 month. They came to ck my house and yard.The assie was only a week.But I had to take the others up to meet her.I think it's easer to get a child.lol
LOL, agreed! The vet records, the visits and references. I just got tired of it, all I wanted to do was to give a good home to a dog. Good grief. But I ended up with amazing buddies after all through a very nice lady. We have a rescue here that I donate to now, she actually wants to place dogs as soon as possible. It's a novel concept! Home

FV, some are harder than others just within my own breed. Some can be quite controling after the adoption. I think the adopter has to feel like it really is "their" dog. My only stipulations are #1 if I get reports of neglect, abuse, or abandonment, I take the dog back. If they no longer want the dog, it comes back to me. I work too darned hard to save & rehab. I don't want these souls to ever have to be in a shelter again. Now matter what age or condition, it's how I do things. It's the right thing to do.
Taz, that makes perfect sense to me. The boxer people, while well meaning, make it next to impossible to adopt a dog. I own my home, have a fenced area, memory foam doggy beds (like they really use that, they sleep with me), and so many toys it is not even funny anymore. Plus 10 years with the same vet. It came down to my job, and that the dog would be working with me. To me, that is great for the dog, to not have to sit at home alone. Go figure.
