That sounds perfect for my breed! I've only met one boxer and she was a live wire. Made my borders look lethargic

Like in all walks of life there are extremists one way or the other. I've done this 16 years so probably more mellow than some. I can't keep them all and I have to have faith in my judgment to make good placements.

SD, so sorry to hear that. It's tough when they require us to be that type of care giver. I hate to do the painful things to my dogs too. Sometimes I feel like an RVT. Wonder is SQ fluids daily would keep bowels more regulated? Might want to discuss with your vet.

Hope your kitty is feeling better ASAP. Give him a nice ear rub from me.

There have been times we have given them two days in a row because you can tell he is still needing them. One of the problems is that he didn't drink enough and he really started doing better drinking on his own after we got the Pet Fountain. And he showed no signs of being constipated. You know how you get to looking for "signs"? I know he will get his lactulose twice a day now even though he hates me doing it. He used to just lick it up but after getting a horrible antibiotic from the vet that made him foam from the mouth, he seems to hate the look of the syringe. I only used that antibiotic once. I can't believe they even use that stuff.

I don't even vape at the computer (which drives me nuts) because he likes to sit by the window. I made him a little bed like thing and he spends a lot of time on it. I figure since it dehydrates us, it might him as well and there have been so many conflicting posts on how PG affects a cat.

He always looks so depressed after we get done poking him and shoving stuff down his throat. You know after writing all this, I feel like I am torturing him and wonder if I should just leave him alone. But to me that doesn't seem right because he isn't in pain and he is fine as long as we keep him hydrated (and obviously give him the lactulose)

I don't know. Are we doing him any favors or are we torturing the poor guy? Nobody likes to be poked and prodded. Yet he would die without it.

FV, some are harder than others just within my own breed. Some can be quite controling after the adoption. I think the adopter has to feel like it really is "their" dog. My only stipulations are #1 if I get reports of neglect, abuse, or abandonment, I take the dog back. If they no longer want the dog, it comes back to me. I work too darned hard to save & rehab. I don't want these souls to ever have to be in a shelter again. Now matter what age or condition, it's how I do things. It's the right thing to do.

I agree 100%....I've gone as far as just taking them off a chain and bringing them back home with me without a word to the awful people who
treated my dog that way!...they didnt deserve a dog...

It is such a hard question. I believe you will 'know' when the time is right. He will be able to convey it to you. If you ever need to pm or email, I'm here. It never becomes any easier:(

Thank you tierrataz! I don't think he is ready to go. I really don't. He still plays, runs and gets that mischievous look in his eyes in between. I made a mistake in thinking he didn't need the lactulose as often because he was drinking more and didn't show signs of being constipated. I won't do that again.

I know it can be a fine line, but I have always detested people when as soon as an animal needs a little more time and effort, they have it "put down".

He just meowed at me to put him up in the window which I take as a good sign. :)

I have never seen a white dobey. She is very pretty. She looks like she wants to play in that picture.

Cappy, I have to tell you I was just admiring how perfectly you cut the batt channel for these AW IMRs. It is a beautiful thing.

On another note and remember I'm barely past VV virgin. Batts are metering 4.24 right off the charger. When Luna stopped suddenly last night I had the forethought to check before charging. Both were @ 3.89V. Sound about right?

Man, gotta get a second set of batts, maybe 2 sets ;-) 3.7V is just not doing it for me now. Cappy, you've ruined me!!!!

I rescued her (had to buy her) from a puppy mill to keep them from breeding her...white is a defect and should never be bred!
She always wants to play,lol...

VV is this a color they are breeding now? Hard to keep up with all the breeds and the directions they take:laugh:

some do but shouldn't...she has light blue eyes and is sensitive to light and sunburn..
I think I've fouund her a wonderful forever home with a dobie pal in a colder climate.....:)

Ya know VV, when things get dark in rescue (and I know you understand the depression with ill ones, the burn out, etc.) I go out and lay on the grass with my fosters and let them about have their way with me. The energy and love they give is hard to put into words. Many think I am nuts to do rescue, but it is the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. It's always wonderful to have the playful happy go lucky personalities in foster care. The day I can no longer rescue is the day they will shovel dirt over me.

Reminds me of a "breeder" looking for a red male to breed her fawn BC to. No one would touch that one. Poor thing squinted in the sun. Can't imagine why people want to breed double recessives.....grrr.

That is so wonderful for Maddy. Paws crossed this is her family!

Cappy, any ideas what you are going to call your new crew member?

No idea, I don't much care for "Franklin"

I just checked a dead pair I have, one reads 3.57v, the other zero so thats the one that the PC cut out on. I think my Tr-001 charges them to about 4.22v. What voltage are you running yours at? Mine is usually about 4.5v.
