I just one one out of this. One will make me happy. :) This means no engraving though, so I'll have to buy another destroyer so I can get the engraving I had in mind. :D

I can't bring myself to put an engraving on a highly figured wood. (Your wood has an awesome figure). I'd be selfish with it and have Cappy make your Destroyer symmetrical with the best part of each scale. But I'm a ..... like that. :)

Is 3/8" thick okay for the panels and caps? Anybody know?

Yup, that should work just fine, same size as I get.

damn... I missed my chance to get another caddy. :p

And a bad news for me. I knocked off my Choco from my desk and it fell onto wooden floor, and the bottom endcap lost the glue power. *sigh*

Good news is everything is intact and still working just fine, and I don't see any damage on any parts of the woods. Also the bottom endcap is not loose from the body either. I think the electronics are holding the cap from falling off.

When I squeeze the top and bottom endcaps it clicks and stays tight until I open/close the door which makes the cap getting loose from the body, then I have to hold top and bottom again and push it back in to tighten.

I think I just need to somehow apply glue inside the thin opening when it's in loose form as in the pictures. but I have no experience on wood glueing not to mention not knowing what glue to buy.

cappy...

You could hold the mod at a angle towards the front a bit then carefully drip some superglue inside (a few drops) and as soon as the glue seeps into the crack quick clamp it down and set it off to dry for a few hours. One tip, aim a fan at the mod so the fumes of the drying superglue does not get all over the wood.

It looks like something else to me but I refuse to disclose.

I see it, but if I saw one that looked like what I see, I think I would never want to see one again. See? Arrrrrr

Is superglue same as krazyglue, one that's usually in very small tube container with thin and clear liquid inside that dries out real quick?

I wonder if i'll have enough time to use syringe with needle so I can get to the thin crack without making mess outside.

Well, I think your best bet would just be to pack her up and I shall bring her aboard and set things right :)

I agree, the engraving is very hard to see with a figured wood and works best with a solid color. I would encourage anyone ordering a mod who wants an engraving to pick a more solid pattern of wood so the engraving is easily visable.

On the subject of wood, for those of you who wish to send me custom wood, I would prefer true wood stock rather than stabilized wood. If they use an open cell stabilization it is very light and weak and even a closed cell stabilization process can have hidden voids and also be weak when cut into the thin size of a door panel. There is also a problem with getting glue to stick to stabilized wood and I can't guarantee that it might not come apart from a minor fall or something.

I know it is really really pretty, but it has inherent problems that must be accepted by you if you want me to use it. I may even go so far as not offer a warranty on the wood portion of a mod made from stabilized wood in the future.

arrr :(

Oh, also, if you wish to provide body wood for any mod I currently offer, I need a chunk of solid wood about 5 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" for body with matching door panel.

For end caps, I need a pair of knife blanks that are at least 5 1/4" x 2" x 3/8" thick. One of the pair is for the end caps, the other one would be for a matching door panel if you would like that sort of thing.
