I just tried this on a new 510 atty (wick only) and I now have an atty that gets me 2 drags and then nothing. I think I was at 3 drops when I got some vapor, then I'd add a drop and get a couple drags with vape, then nothing again. I quit dripping after a couple cycles of this, because I figured I'd flood it. Then I tried blowing it out, but got almost a dry tissue.

Does this work only with higher voltages?

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to thank Phee for sharing this video. I wasn't enjoying vaping at all because all my juice had a awful taste to them. Turns out that it was burning wick I was tasting! The wicks I pulled out of both of the attys I'd been using were burned at the end. Now my juice tastes fantastic! I even pulled the wicks out of the new attys I had.
I can't thank you enough.

I'm not sure if the wick burns or not but after a few drags (4-7, depending of liquid composition) I always get a burnt tasted drag with vapor generation, so there is a bit of liquid inside the atty. In the past couple of weeks I've done a litthe research about this issue but didn't find anything conclusive. I've heard before about removing the wick but did not gave it a try. After reading this post I removed the wick of one of my used atomizers but that kind of burnt taste remains there. Now I can see the crap at coil ends and I think it is built from the ends of the wick that were in contact with the coil. Next time I open a new atty for dripping I'll remove the fresh wick and watch if that black crap builds at coil ends after using it a couple of weeks.

Ok, I think I'll give it a try to dry burns but I'm not so brave. By the way, I use to clean my atomizer very often. I add some drops of PG and blow them out, I do this process until the output PG is clear. I use PG to be sure the process does not kill the atomizer if some drops are not blowed out. I'll try with distilled water to see if it works too, it is easier to get distilled water than PG.

Thanks, I knew about HighPing atomizer cleaning method. In fact, yesteray night I tried a similar process of dry burning. What I worry of HP's method is to break the atomizier while cooling it fast (some kind of coil fusion) so I waited until the atomizer was cold before rinsing it.

After the dry burn cleaning I realized that liquids taste better but it seems that vapor production or temperature is reduced a bit. My atomizer changed its bejavior but I don't remember how it worked when it was new. For now, I'll wait until I get used to the new behavior.

I know this is an old thread but I just want to thank Phee for this video and Basilray for pointing me to it.

Removed the wick from a used LR today and got positive results. Gonna remove the wick from all my LR's now.

I was getting a burnt taste that no amount of soaking in water or alcohol was fixing. Removed the wick, dry burned the hell out of the atty, added some juice and the burnt taste was gone. Ended up with more vapor and even a little more TH. Very nice.

I beg to differ about the wicks not burning (or at least being a primary reason for the burnt-taste). I had two attys with nasty burnt-taste that I could not remove no matter what I did. I was ready to toss them away when I decided to try de-wicking method. Lo-and-behold... no more burnt-taste. In fact, I get so much more flavor out of juices I'm using as well as better vapor production. Go figure...
