I may strip it and re-paint. I have a feeling I was holding the cap too close when spraying.

I sanded, cleaned, sprayed and baked in a warm oven for an hour.

does the paint feel textured?

It's working well. I replaced the bottom contact with a brass screw. It's my home only mod.

I love the curve on the front giving it that rounded shape, and the high gloss shine is outstanding. Squonk hole perfection. dreamy grain and fine knots

Gun bluing solution...that sounds really awesome, be sure to post some pics....off to research gun bluing solution.

Don't think gun bluing works on aluminum. Blueing is really just a controlled oxidation process, and I "think" it has to be done on steel.

From what I read it is only for steel, but there are aluminum versions, as well as brass and iron. Maybe this would work? Searching brings up some posts on candlepower using it on aluminum flashlights.

Don't know for sure, but I'd say no. Wood doors slide in on a dovetail, metal on a square channel cut. Also, I'd bet they are different dimensionally.
