Good job, yea the metal tubes are nice. All I had were clearomizers and a bunch if 510 battery tubes from madvapes they do fit tightly on the ce2 base you will need pliers to get them on though. I prefer the thin wick from bulli, I heard cov will have genuine ce2 wick for the iatty.

I received an order from COV this week which included the iatty wick to check it out. It was pretty much identical to what you used. What I would really like is the thin wick from the earlier versions of the CE2s. I did however loosen the braid with a needle and it is wicking much better.

Time and time again I buy a repairable atomizer mod and always end up setting it down for a CE2 in a tank. There is something about that design that concentrates vapor and flavor so well. I guess I'm going to have to give this method a try and quit buying other stuff.

I drilled out the holes in the ceramic cup to fit a small safety pin.(a sewing needle is to brittle and will snap instead of bend) bent the safety pin so it makes a hook that will tightly clamp the wall of the ceramic cup through slots for the wick. Made little hooks on the end to be soldered so the joints are mechanically solid. The reason for the update is I had the small gauge needles snap on me and another slide out of the solder joint. Also the hooks make it easier to make a new coil and wick instead of threading the resistance wire through the holes.

What gauge silver plated copper wire do you use and what size is the safety pin do you use?

30 awg wire that I no longer use, the safety pin can be almost any size.

This sounds like something I might be able to try. Thanks for all of the clear instructions BigBulli. I've got maybe 15 broken CE2's where the coil popped off of the wire. I've got a soldering iron and solder (my son left them when he went moved out, so IT's MINE lol) I have a Dremel, but not a diamond bit I don't think. I've got safety pins, but only scraps of old ce2 wick. I ordered some nichrome wire from Madvapes, so I just need the wick.
Well, I'm off to learn how to solder, thanks for all of your fine instructions!!

I DID IT!!! I made this wonderful repairable ce2. With coaching from mianker, I soldered wire from a battery spring connection onto one of my broken ce2's. Wrapped nichrome around some wick and it works!!! I know it's not pretty, but I am so proud of myself, I just had to share. Thank you all.

I have been vaping for almost a year now. I use a 3.7 volt device. I really like ce2' but I am tired of replacing them. I am sure somewhere in this thread there is information about where a gal might buy a repairable ce2.

BigBulli was selling some in the classifieds. As to ohms you wrap your own coil to whatever resistance you want..

No drill bit really small tapered diamond bur. Ceramic will just eat up your bit like you probably found out.

Great idea BB. Where did you purchase the bur and do you have the size of the safety pins you used? Thanks so much for this mod.

Deathsnuggle, since no one has replied I will put in my 2 cents. There is a good chance that the pins are going to be stainless, so it would be better to use the copper wire (much easier to solder). Also the Ruby Flux is a must have.

Yes you can Just ensure the SS is oxidized well. You will have to take extra precaution with it touching the pins also and if you have a Stainless Steel tank.

I only use SS mesh and kanthal on my repairable ce2, works great and never a burnt taste.
