Now wth?! Hubs rebuilt another coil/wick and this 1 with the silica, 2.5 with 7 wraps of the 30g wire and I squonk, get a decent hit, go to hit it again and it feels like someone took a blow torch to my throat and it taste burnt but maybe the burnt taste is comeone from my throat?!

This is EXACTLY how I am vaping right now. this coil and wick are only a couple of hours used TOPS. View attachment 226704View attachment 226705View attachment 226706View attachment 226707View attachment 226708

I think you need to make your wick longer. Its hard to tell from your pics but you do need to have a bit of wick touching the floor of the atty. i say at least 1/8 inch of wick in contact with the floor to soak up the juice. The flavor will be good and more hits between squonks and less burned wicks with cotton.

Thanks Y! Hey, if you got 1 ohm with 6 wraps, it must be pretty small diameter though. Good work.

Good luck waiting for the coil to die! I've never had one die, but the longest I could go w/o a rebuild was 3 weeks or so :)

Perhaps so... big enough for silica to fit in though :p Im cool if it doesn't die - I'm not much for fiddling with things. If it ain't broke don't fix it, etc. The only thing I hated about my Prodigy V3. CONSTANT.FIDDLING. I never got it working properly for more than a day. Often fiddling even in between vapes. Arrgh. :D (and the reason I didn't want to use cotton - daily "fiddle" to replace it. Even if it is an easy fiddling lol) That's the *ONE* advantage analogs have had (til now) was the ease. flick lighter button, inhale, it works. Of course, they TASTE crappy....I preferred nic-gum over cigs, mostly.... :D

Now I prefer my darling Reo♥

Sennie, for one, the wick looks too short - trim
It so it is even with the edges of the base, then push the ends of the wick down in the bowl.

Is that cotton ball or rolled cotton wick? If not, I don't know anything about silica.

Is your coil nice and even, like is the bore a smooth cylinder? It almost looks like the wick is woven they the coils, rather than threaded thru the center of the bore. That black wick makes it very difficult to tell what's going on there.

It also looks like the coil is too low in the bowl, perhaps even touching it? If so you wanna likt it up some, like a 1/16" gap.

Once we get this worked out we can move on to the next step - air hole / coil / firing relationship :)

ok... I wondered if I was trimming it too short... and when I put the coil in it wasn't touching the bottom but I might have moved it as I was installing or screwing down the screws. My eyes aren't so good ( old). Yes it WAS nice and even, could put the screw driver right back through it so I am guessing perhaps I have too much cotton? And it's a cotton ball. Going to get rolled cotton today from CVS.

That sure looks terrible Sennie. Yuck. The more i see and hear the more i think it might be the Juice you vape. Looking at your pics its no wonder cartos clogged in no time. Is that a real sweet juice? It might not be the juice but its starting to look like it in my head. You've mentioned the juice before, a coffee flavor then you said 5 shot. What does the five shot mean?

Edit: i looked up your juice and i see what 5 shot means. Its added flavor. Highest they have from 1-5 shots.

All my juices are very dark brown. I don't have any problem with them in RBA's. Of course they do taste much better in the RM2.

The cotton will turn dark brown/blackish. I have used the same wick for a week. By then it needs replaced.

I use cotton from cotton balls.

Okay, this may be a silly question....but......

I took the top of the RBA off to see if my wick had dried out while I was at work (should I squonk it or not....) and well...my coil is dark now, not silver wire like when I put it in. Is this normal??

Yes, thats par for the course.

They will get a build up from the juice. Mine are always black by the end of the first day. When you remove the wick just do a dry burn of the coil and get the crud off of it. It will be metal looking again and ready for more wick.

When in doubt, always squonk. The excess will usually go back down the hole :)

Damn, Sennie, I'm having tne damnedest time trying to make out anything in those pix. Hard to differentiate coil from wick. Is your coil pointing up when you vape? Is the airhole in front of the coil? If not, they need to be :)
