howd you get those wires in the holes ?

Damn. That's a solid wall of wire. Looks badass. Do I need to get me some of that? I also repeat Sterno's question - how do ya get the wire in the holes?

The post holes are *just* wide enough for it... it's coming off the bottom side of the coil for the post by the squonk hole, and off the top side of the coil for the other post, making that slight downhill descent away from the squonk side you and Rob have been talking about.

This coil has a couple more wraps than my last one, so it's just a tiny bit cooler. My first one with the ribbon (was about 0.9Ω) produced a bit more vapor, but it was just a teeny bit too hot for me. This one's just right. Still making clouds. This ribbon is really good stuff... I can only assume it's all the surface area that makes the difference.

Very nice coil indeed. Mine looked very similar except yours a bit heavier gage (.8 I think, I use .6) and I wrapped both ends of the wick around the posts (away from the squonk hole). :)

Just a teeny bit spaced further apart than yours

I am having some problems with the cotton wick. It seems like I'm just not getting enough juice to the coil itself, and I'm getting a really hard hit very quickly... Like one or two pulls after a squonk. Anyone have any ideas why this is?

Sometimes if you put too much wick material inside the coil it strangles the juice from moving up in there

^ +1. You will have to squonk more when ya go micro. I think of squonking as the replacement for flicking ashes :). Gives us something to do other than just hit. Hit, hit, ash (I mean squonk) hit hit...type, squonk, type, squonk, type, think,..,.

There, I'm in the rhythm.

Exactly why I like to keep my wick tails long. Tend to give me a hit, hit, hit, hit...squonk, beat to it :)

I tried it that way... It still seems awfully temperamental. It definitely has a better taste than the silica, and I like the idea of not having silica threads going into my lungs, but at the rate I'm going I'll be changing wicks every couple of hours.

What kind of juice are you using? I have a simple peppermint DIY that lets me use a wick for up to four days. I recently started using a complex RY4 DIY, that while delicious, seems to require a daily wick change.

I am using a darker juice, currently. I'm getting really weird results all around. If I hold the reo with the button facing away from me, I get good flavor, lower vapor production, and no harsh hits... But if I hold it with the button facing me I get really hot harsh hits, lots of vapor production, and awful flavor. I don't understand. haha.

I believe that has more to do with which side the air hole is on than the wick material. With a side air hole RBA you need to have the air hole pointing up when you vape on it. When it points down, juice blocks the air hole, floods the wick and coil and bad/harsh taste and poor air flow/vapor production results.

A little tidbit of info on my latest build - Notice how the coil / wick sits higher on the side that is over the squonk hole on the theory that squozen juice would bubble up and hit the coil and wick than run down to the opposing low side, wetting the entire coil in the process.

It seems that this subtlety allows the excess juice to return, unobstructed, into the hole and I notice a difference in the vape quality because juice does not collect in the bowl (cooling the coil) as it did when I pressed the coil low on the hole side.

Yeah. I'm into subtleties.

Thanks for the tip Super_X! I took your advice and built this coil Friday night. It's hard to tell but the wire that's under the cotton is going into the "prime/drain hole" pole side and the wire that's over the wick is going into the other pole. The wick lasted 'til this morning and it's way better this way than trying to have your wick/coil down low near the feed/drain hole.

As you can see the coil is pretty gunked up but I'm lazy and didn't do a dry burn. I'm sort of on the fence as to the merits of the dry burn to clean coils so I just use them 'til they don't taste/perform well and then build new ones.

It's not as radically high as yours:

But as you can see it's better than my other build:

Thanks again,

Norman

There should be very little resistance when ya pull it thru. Hildicat taught me that. It's money.

Yep. Especially in my case as I use what's called "worsted yarn" and I double it over. Any type of cotton will expand once it's primed and also you don't want resistance when you thread it because you will probably "warp/deform" your coil build. It should slide through the coil build real easy.

Of course, you don't want it so easy that the wire doesn't touch the cotton at all. That can produce some burnt tongues and sore throats!

HA!

Just got this in the mail. 30g 11/12 wraps around the Allen wrench the hornet comes with. Boiled cotton wick...time to test it out!

Nice build and damn brave of ya to use that thing as a mold. It's TINY. My guess (after running a similar build all day and still running it) is that it sounds like a small rocket taking off every time you fire it and runs a little hotter than you like?

I'm finding that when wrapping that small, I need to shoot for about 2+ ohms to keep it sane. What do you think ink?

I have a tad bit different question if you guys don't mind. My history with rba is the 1st one that came out. Got it at Liberty Flights for cheap and finally managed to put together a kinda-coil, at least it fired. It was a terrible vape ( I'm sure bacause of my wrap ) but I still vaped it and I noticed it was like sucking air/ no resistance.
A couple things I like from the atty's and carto's I use is every now and then, I get this crackle and slight pop with a little resistance as I'm drawing. Actually, I LOVE THAT! Do you get any of that from the REOMIZER 2.

edit> or the type of coil you use?

Yeah bro, like a damn bottle rocket! It sizzles, that's for sure...A bit too hot for an all day vape or long session. I've got some diy overwhelming Kool mint/menthol that you can only take a few puffs on. Next time it's going to be at least 2 ohms, most likely 2.2.

It's hilarious that we built essentially the same coils today. Our results were identical too. Your build looks fantastic though.
