I got mine yesterday, and have it running with .8 ohm 28 ga. I tried silica and cotton, and am using cotton right now and it is vaping great.

However, using my regular 70/30 VG/PG spearmint e-liquid, the tank on this developed hairline cracks within the first 10 minutes of vaping with it. This is not at all a tank-cracking liquid, and it works just fine on my other plastic tank atty's like my Kanger T2. I am not sure why the Rocket tank is cracking, whether from the liquid, poor material, or what, but it now has vertical cracks all the way around the tank. None of them have made it all the way through the tank, so it does not leak yet, but if they do make it through the tank the Rocket will be useless.

Also, the tiny silicone o-ring inside the top cap that fits between the top cap and the inner air tube is not attached in any way to anything. There is a little circular gap in the cap itself, but if you turn the cap upside down the o-ring just falls out. As this is necessary for the Rocket to actually function correctly, I take this as a serious design flaw. Merely taking off the top cap results in the o-ring falling out and it is easily lost. If it is lost the result would be an unusable Rocket.

Other than those 2 things the Rocket is great. But they really need to make the tank out of something, ANYTHING, more durable, and they need to fix that top o-ring in place.

I also have a rocket on the way in the mail, bought it just cuz its cheap and nice to experiment with.

The hemp wicks, how do they compare to cotton? are they clean tasting? do they wick well? better than silica i assume? how do u prepare hemp, boil it or is it good to go when u buy it?

Im not found of the way cotton tastes, or the way ekowool or silica wicks (too slow), if hemp is a good alternative im gonna give that a try.

Great. I'm glad you found it. So....how does it vape? :vapor:

Thanks! I think it is great for the money! I am still using my first coil for it; a micro with cotton yarn. I am getting some gurgling with it, but plan on trying another set up when it is emptied.

From what I have read, I was expecting some intense flavor. However, my Ithaka clone has it beat on that so far. You think the gurgling/flooding is killing my flavor? Go cats!

I set up a simple horizontal 1.2ohm micro with cotton in my Rocket and I am very pleased. I expected it to work, but I did not imagine any liquid-holding device on the planet could wick perfectly. But this one does. I've been through 5 tanks of 25/70 and 2 of 50/50 in the last few days and I have had not one single problem, even after sitting in a hot car all day. After 7-8 tanks it's about time to change cotton and I may go ahead and throw in a vertical micro with cotton.

I actually had trouble adjusting to this vape, it is so saturated and the flavor is so strong. 75% VG nearly suffocated me the first couple times I hit it. I understand people are turned away from this from the cheap-ish looks, but for $13 I am amazed. Compared to a Protank for $20 or $9 for an Evod at my local shop this is a game changer.

I know what you mean lol. A few months back I got a kayfun clone and got a nic buzz within 20 minutes of my first build, plus the flavor was so intense it was taking my breath away. I had to lower my nic to 6 mg (from 12) and cut back the flavor percentages on a couple of my mixes. Luckily most of mixes were ok, just better.

I'd love to pick up one of these up for the added juice capacity, but I don't like the metal mouth piece. I keep hoping they'll make an adapter for it, but not holding my breath lol.

....................................

Edit: I have also found that I get more vapor and flavor with a little more diameter on the coils. 1.5mm seems to be right for me. The dragon needs to breath.:)

I'd always used a big needle to make my nano coils at about .7 mm. They worked good except for a little popping and spitting here and there, which I didn't like. I just tried one wrapped on an alley key at about 1.5 mm id and yeal, this is much smoother. So far, no popping or spitting at all. I'm liking this much better.

The CE4-driptip fits the Rocket!
I did have to cut off a piece of the driptip under the threading but now it does screw on. It doesn't look good, but at least I can use a plastic driptip now.
At FT they offer 510 driptip adapters for CE4, I'll probably order one of those as well to try. But I don't know how to cut stainless steel though...

This is my Rocket 28g 1.5 ohm, vertical turbo. Best setup on these IMO.

after an unsuccessful attempt at this vertical build a few weeks back i decided to give it another go. at first i was having issues with it wicking consistently but after using a little more cotton it is now a keeper. i would say the vapor is about the same as a regular horizontal micro coil in this device but the flavor is definitely better. just received some of the hemp fibers and look forward on the comparisons to cotton.
