I'm not saying Troggo hasn't done a great job in knocking these up. I just think people without engineering knowledge are blown away quite easily by a shiny piece of turned Metal.

Aluminium is easy to work with , i was a mechanical engineer for 12 years once upon a time so i know whats involved in the production of the screwdriver and it's not some kind of Black magic.

It's the IDEA that trog had which is the smart thing , not the practicality in making it a reality.

As for Expensive well lets see what it comes with.

2 x 901 atomizers = £13.00
2 x batteries = £5.00 ( guessing there )
1 x battery charger = £4.00 ( another guess )
One ten ml bottle of 24 mg flu cured dripping fluid = £6.49
cost of an original 901 battery ( for the connector ) = £7.99
5 empty carts = £1.75

so thats an estimate of £38.23

deduct that from the £99 you got £60.77

then you got blank aircraft grade aluminium and a push to make switch so lets say another £5 there so we have

£55.77

that just about 1 1/2 hours rate for a poorly paid engineer with a profesional machine shop.

so in the grand scheme of things , i dont really think the whole kit is overpriced.

now ...where to i place my order ;)

edit : couldnt edit my original post

ho hum ....
like i said Miss Diane , making it myself i could do but i no longer have access to lathes , tap and die sets , thread cutter et el anymore.

i never once said " what a crap idea " or "that's a piece of piss to make".

An invention is just an idea brought to being. it's the idea thats the tricky part. If technology exists then producing it is the easy bit.

read my posts carefully ;)

I did read your post carefully thank you

but i do feel that after all said and done taking everything into account there are too many people slagging off the screwdriver and trying to get freebies out of trog . when the man has put alot of time and effort into trying to invent something when others just sit back on there laurels, and expect something for nothing.

whether he makes £55.77 or £99.95 makes no difference to me
TROG HAS PUT HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS HE HE !!!!!!!!

I HOPE you aren't referring to me. I never asked for a freebie. I suggested Dusty, if anyone. And if disagreeing with Trog's estimate of a 901 att vs. a pipe att is "slagging," so be it, but nothing I've said about the Screwdriver is anything I would consider slagging, bashing, or even putting it down. It's not the Jesus E-Cig, and saying I'd want a different att (a minor change, a different fitting), or a warranty ain't blasphemy.

Sorry Miss Diane , but did you not start this thread asking whether or not people think it's expensive or not.

Screwdriver is it expensive

and then your going to tell people off for saying ' yes it is too expensive '

?????

im confused

i dont believe anyone in this thread has slagged off Trog100 or asked for anything 'Free'

im trying to figure out if it's expensive or not by weighing up how much it actually costs in time and materials to make against how much it sells for.

it's even now come to light that even the body is donored. so the only thing thats been 'made' is the collar for the battery connector and maybe the switch.

I'm not nit-picking , i'm not slagging Trogg100 off i'm certainly not tryin to get a freebie i'm just trying to do the math to answer the question which YOU started this thread off with.

and like i said before , i don't think the whole kit is overpriced.

I think maybe you should rename this thread to ' Leave Trog100 alone shut up if you can't do better'

Miss Diane leave it alone and come downstairs because I want my bloody tea. I am not getting into any of this crap .I've been asking for months for some body to come up with ideas and I don't particularly care where the parts come from and how much it costs as long as it works and now somebody has.
People just aren't satisfied and just pure ungrateful.

how can you start a thread asking for opinions and then slate people when their opinions differ from your own.

Is that not the idea of this forum is ? peoples opinons

People just aren't satisfied and just pure ungrateful.

your only gratefull and satisfied if you have something you wanted.
from my point of view the screwdriver would be just another toy. I dont NEED it, hell i might not even want it, so why does that make me unsatisfied and ungrateful..

p.s. apologies if im a bit tetchy , i came close to having a fatality on my hands yesterday and im still dealing with it.

what its made of.. how its made is all irrelevant..

the srewdriver is what it is.. a finished product.. if someone thinks they can produce something cheaper or something better.. be my guest..

as of now it costs £99 free UK postage or an extra £6 postage to the US..

so far it must be the most dissected device available so at least u know what u are buying..

So, because it's what YOU want WE should be grateful?

We all want different things. I wouldn't want it as it is.

Look, even with a guarantee being promised, and fitted with the atomizer I'd prefer, It's still just a push button pipe with a cool shape.

I'm not knocking it, and I told Trog it was cool back when he posted the first pics. But it's nothing to say hallelujas over.
They already have pipes with the same battery, they already have push-button e-cigs. Knutelspeter already did the same thing, just less streamlined. Kudos to Trog for carrying the idea forward, and improving it by using cheap off the shelf atts and batts.

But suggesting its so perfect we should all love it and are ungrateful if we don't is just silly.

My $.02 cents ...

Trog, love the design buddy. Pricing is what someone is willing to pay for it and is in the eye of the beholder/buyer. If trog thinks his pricing is fair, so be it. Supply and Demand my fellow ECF members ...

P.S. -- Kit, this STOMPS your popcorn pic ... :p ... lol

Boy, I was gonna order one, before reading this thread, Too much BS here, for my taste, and $$$$. I will just wait for the new janty's to come out...I hear 1 model will have the new batteries that are litium, like in cell phones, and have the switch as well, with a different design, of course. Time will tell if it's better, but, it will be warranteed, and from a company who stands behind it, along with patent's. JMHO:pwait, and hopefully, I will be rewarded.:thumb:
