Does anybody have a good way to get the polytube off the SGV3 once it has been on there for a couple of days. I can't get mine to budge. My previous one I used a screwdriver to pry up from the bottom but that gouges the heck out of the tube.

I use one of those rubber jar opener grips to get a better hold then twist and pull. With a little effort (ok, maybe alot of effort, lol) it comes off OK and no damage to any of the parts.

I just cut my wick so it only goes about 2/3 of the way down into the tank on both sides. Wicking id almost too good this way :) but there is never a dry hit.

I also leave the bottom connector hole open and have a small hole in the top cap directed at the coil. TH and vapor are both very good and flavor is excellent using #325 mesh and 50/50 juice..

That's funny, I do the same thing lorderos,,,,, while on this topic, though I have made a few Scubagen mods now I really wished that someone would take the time to make a complete utube video of putting one together properly, even if it runs into 3 movie parts, this would help out so many people that are struggling with this. I know Dan has a couple he has doen but just one fro start to finish of the latest and greatest techniques. If it is out there can someone link it to me so I can forward it to a few that have been asking me questions please.

I am unaware of a start to finish video but I IMHO PkZap has the best method of assembly so maybe he will do one for all to use as reference. His are the cleanest looking SGV3 builds I have seen so far...even a little better than mine ;).

I've never seen his but PKZap27 does a fine build and I have to mention that Dans looks awful clean also, I've seen that one in person and the XL is awesome! It hit quite well too.....lol

I ordered most of the add on parts from PKZap27's build - I have several to build as well. Costs about $40 but you end up with 100 washers (3 sizes), 100 O'rings (2 sizes), 100 spacers (2 sizes) and 25 nuts.... I'm planning on breaking them into sets and will to put a few up on the clasifieds over the weekend @ cost. Will post here when I do.... I was thinking those spacers might also make good vents for the upper chamber if I go that route....

Has anyone tried that ceramic wick? I tried some that a friend sent me, and I don't care for it. I didn't have a bad flavor, but with every drag I thought I was going to cough up a lung! I prepared like I was told to....torched until white hot. Just not a smooth vape like I get with the SS mesh.

I will say this though....that stuff does a good job wicking juice up! And I vape some pretty thick stuff....60 VG.

I wonder if this wick will work?

1/16" braided fiberglass. Says it's used in oil lamps, torches....all kinds of applications. Also comes in 1/8".
S1RFW1 Braided fiberglass wick approximately 1/16 inch diameter. SKU: 1376-100 Round Fiberglass Wick. Spool size 100 yards. - WickStore.com

If not, anyone have suggestions for wick material? I am going to put the wick from a CE2 in today to try it out and see how it works.....just something to play with to make it easier on the folks that want the Scubagen, just don't want to roll mesh wicks.

I have a spool of this stuff. It works, but it is not very durable. LR or HV vaping will melt it quickly and give burnt taste so it has to he kept very wet. Something to keep in mind.

I have that wick..
I will not use it anymore.
A dry burn melts it. Doesn't transfer flavor well at all imo.
Wicks good though.

It's O-ring. You really gotta stretch that thing to get the double wrap. Was sure it was going to rip.

I was able to do the same thing with the little o-rings from my old CE2's. I used a jewelers mandrel, two old CE2's and some card stock (index card) I am going to try and post pictures.

Here is what you will need. I attempted to use one of the clear o-rings, but was unable to stretch it enough to fit. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Carefully remove the o-ring from the CE2. Any kind of nick will cause it to break, you are going to be stretching the heck out of it...

Then carefully place the o-ring on the end of the mandrel.
o-ring on end of mandrel.jpg

Simply roll the o-ring up to where its large enough.

Wrap the card stock around the mandrel and roll the o-ring onto it.

Slide the card stock off the mandrel with the o-ring on it.

Slide your SGV3 into the end of the rolled up card stock.
Insert SGV3.jpg

Roll the o-ring onto Your SGV3.

Done.

I used 2 o-rings because I wanted to make sure that no matter the length of SS wick I wouldnt have an issue. Heck if you have a bunch of these laying around you might be able to create some sort of pattern. Have fun with it!!!

On wick material; remember 'raidy' saying he's tried about everything and he chose ss?! Not discouraging alt materials but...

For a standard Genisis with a straight wick.....I 100% agree. My point is that bending the SS mesh into a U is very difficult. I'm trying to up the success rate of the SGv3.....
