so hum i thought the DSU was the clear tubes with the adjustable juice feed and air flow ring at the bottom? are you mixing these somehow?

That was DUSv6, to cut down on the confusioin, I will refer to DSUv6 as that, and the DSUv3SS will now be called G-tank-US. Hopfully this will cut down on the confusion.

Ok I am gonna have to do some testing, I am not happy with the neg post on the G-tank-US, I want it 0-80 screws so it is small and will fit like I want it to, but no one wants to tap a 0-80 hole in SS unless you want to pay for all the taps they break. SO as an alternate I found some brass push inserts that can be pushed into a .103W x .125D hole and used like an anchor the way you do bolts in concrete. So to make sure these are viable solution (since they are actually made for plastic) I need to order some and test them out with SS. This way I can deside on the neg hole for the build and proceed from there.

Regarding bending SS mesh someone on the forum had a perfect suggestion which no one seemed to notice. Can't find it right now.

Cut the mesh from the sheet at a 45 degree angle then roll it. It's downright floppy! Bending is no problem at all, no special technique, just bend and use.

Sooo.....two wicks out of one normal wick?

Here is what I have been doing on my SS wicks and it works beautifully. I cut the SS mesh at 4.5" X 1.0" and then fold over the length in half... Then at .25" above the fold I cut an arc to .25" on the 90 degree perpendicular edge. When you open the screen at the folded side you have a .5" gap with an arc that at its top is .25". THen boil the mesh and role from that side with your 24 Ga wire. It forms great at the top when you are curving the coil and I have gotten "dual coil cart" + hits off both my
V3s with the additional mod of plugging the port for the positive feed wire and adding the air flow tube in the upper chamber... I have exclusively used the V3 over everything else for the past 2 weeks.

UA...what he is saying is turn the mesh so the grid is 45 degrees out of square...then cut the piece you want from the mesh...instead of cutting along the lines of the grid like this ###### ...you will be cutting along the grid corner to corner like this xxxxxxxx. You will have more waste but you can collapse one side of grid better while in a diamond pattern other than trying to collapse a box pattern....if that makes any sense.

Here...like this...the red is what you would cut out to make your wick with...

Tus - I am having a bit of trouble visualizing your method on the SS wick. Not sure how you are cutting the "arc". Is it possible
to post some pictures? I am in Phoenix. Do you ever come up?

Just start .25" up from one corner of the fold and cut a curve to the perpendicular side to approx .25" (As compared to making a straight cut across the corner.) When opened up it would look like a half circle instead of a V. The idea is to have less material at the top where you curve the wick. this gives good tubes for wicking at the bottom and less material at the top for curving. It doesn't have to be exact. You will have plenty of SS to role. I did one up as far as 3/8" and it also did great. You can use a good pair of scissors to make the cut.

Thanks Tus! I've got it now. Making one right now.

While I like the 45 degree bias method for ease in bending, Nico's description of it brings up a valid point: isn't the bending action collapsing the open area between the wires and affecting the droplet size held in the mesh and changing the nature of the vape?

Doing both is even better...

I think that's what many are looking for....

The SS Mesh sheet has a grain to it and if you cut the mesh so the grain is horizontal, it shouldn't kink when you bend it with a wire inside. It helps to twist the ends of the wick in opposite directions while you bend it in a curve with the wire inside. If the grain is vertical the wick will kink every time go to bend it.

Completely makes sense! Great description even without the pictures!

Does your unfolded wick look like this? Just trying to get my head wrapped around the idea.
