Does your unfolded wick look like this? Just trying to get my head wrapped around the idea.

Reply to post# 2241... Nope that shows the wick folded by the width (by my paradigm). Fold it by the length. So that your 4.5" sheet is now 2.25". Then from one folded corner measure up from .25" to .375" and cut an arc to the perpendicular side. When you open the sheet you will have the arc on one (long) side of the sheet. The width of the gap on the edge will be anywhere from .5" to .75". when opened back up. I begin the roll from that side up to the solid side.
That being said... THe way you show it may be a viable option... I have not tried it that way.

I want a lathe! Even if it was just a small one to work wood/Delrin it would suit me.

Since you showed interest... Before I moved to the Tucson area I owned a lathe with milling capabilities. If you get a small mini lathe you may find it not capable of doing projects that you become interested in once you get proficient with it. I sold my equipment a few years ago but am going to buy another setup once finances are set. Here are a couple that I am looking at:
lathe, metal lathe, combo lathe. at Bolton Hardware
12" x 20" Combo Lathe/Mill - Combo Lathe/Mill/drill at Bolton Hardware
Each would need to be tooled up as any other setup but they would be able to take on a wide variety of tasks. JMHO

HAha thanks for the links, but I could never afford that, and even if I did, I'd have no where to set them up. I'm just a poor guy getting buy as best I can.

Well If you kept your eyes on Craigs list locally you may find a mini lathe at a very good price. Sometimes people buy them for a couple of projects then lose interest and put them up for sale at a fraction of they are worth and then they are almost always with tooling. I wish I would have kept my original setup but moving cross country... it just didn't seem practical at the time.
