Yay!! Mine is out for delivery! Is the consensus for wicking to place the cotton and the deck and have it going into the channels just a bit? I think that's what I've seen most consistently in videos and also on a photo in this thread. I'm not sure if I should try to do a titanium build (which if successful would be my first working titanium build I did myself) or just toss in a clapton and be done with it because I have a coil master (clone lol) coming which would make my life easier - I just cringe at the idea of the cotton going through the coil and messing up my spacing.

What coil did you put on it Jeremy? I like it with a 3mm ID Clapton. Easy, easy, easy. and it just chucks it like crazy!

Noble Gas and jackmormon, Hope you have great success with this little single coil powerhouse!

What a trip. Mine was delivered today and I am also breaking it in with some Blueberry Custard from V3. Initial impressions are extremely positive. More on that later ;)

That's some fine juice, isn't it? :)

I recently ordered a sampler from V3 and they included a free 30 ml unicorn bottle of that juice and it's amazing. Tastes like blueberry muffins. I've been vaping the other V3 juices in my Derringers, but wanted a tank because honestly, I'm just tired of dripping every few hits. I can't believe how close the Serpent flavor is to the flavor I get from a Derringer.

I have a 3mm wotofo pre-made clapton, was four wraps but had to undo one to get it to fit in the angled posts. My issue is with the wicking. I put too much cotton in the second time and then had a friend do a pancake wicking method the second time. I am trying to find a happy in-between there. I currently have the pancake method in there still, but it was leaking pretty badly upon filling. It is an impressive, impressive tank (if I can get the wicking right it will consistently be awesome) and exactly what I was looking for.

What is the optimal wicking method? Should I just place the cotton in barely at the top of the channels?

Jeremy > On the wicking, I put it just on the top of the channels, but I pack my 3mm Clapton very snug. This means I have some good shoulders on the wick when I push it back on the deck after wetting it. By the time I put the chimney on I am sure a little goes down the channel tops. I have not had any leaking so far after over a week of continuous use. The only dry hit I have had is when I was not watching and ran the sucker out of juice! I wicked similar to Mike's video on the first page of this thread.

Thanks a bunch! I am going to try that out now.

The pancake wick works great. The leaking you experience when filling has nothing to do with the wick. You have to burp it when filling. Close the juice flow, fill then turn upside down and open the juice flow. No more leaking. Dry as a bone.

Crap, I just pulled that wick out. I tried again with the wicks sitting on the top of the channel but not really in and it was working better, however, I think the wick was in the coil way too tight and choking it off so I am going to try again. I may go back to the pancake method if I can replicate what my friend did. I appreciate everyone's tips/help. That pancake method must be magical - none of the wick was really even close to touching the channel and it was wicking real well with that leaking on filling (that could have been fixed as mentioned) being the only issue.

Edit: Just tried wicking for a third time and think I got it. It is not perfect but I think it is working well enough!

So no matter what I tried I couldn't get my order to go through at 101 so I ended up going through ecigcity. Now I just have to wait for it to ship and get into my mailbox

You'll be pleased for being in Hawaii shipping is incredibly fast. I usually receive my stuff within 3 days and that's to Florida.

So I've had the Serpent for 5 days now and feel very torn about it. The vapor and flavor are amazing and make me want to keep it, but the insane leakage I've had drove me nuts! Maximum frustration! I changed the wick multiple times, tried different things, burping it apparently does work best. BUT: I still get little drops of condensated (?) juice sitting along the ring of the juice control and at the bottom around the airflow (does anyone else experience this?). This in itself is not an issue when vaping at home, but totally dismisses it's purpose of taking it on the road. I don't need juice in my pockets.
I never had these problems with the Kanger Subtank for example, but I wanted something less bulky for going out.

Can anyone please post a picture of their successful wicking? Mine is working but certainly could be improved (edit I've taken a look at the videos on youtube, but it is easier to work from a photo).

Just wanted to add I had a great experience with Eciggity. I ordered at like 6 or 7 p.m. eastern time and got shipping/tracking number that same night and the package made it all the way from Hawaii to New Jersey in 3 days.

I've only had mine for a day with a 1st build. Vapor and flavor are outstanding, actually off the charts. No leakage, filling is easy. The only qualm I have is what you mention, condensation around the AFC. This is the only flaw I see with this tank, it could use a bigger AFC/condensation chamber to catch the inevitable. Maybe my opinion will change when I experiment with wicking a bit. 1st wick is working so well I am not going to mess with it for now.

That being said, I just ordered 2 more. I am a single coil guy who likes intense/hot/dense vapes and this is IT. Until the next one ;)

Sorry to keep harping on this - I've tried a long wick, short wick, medium wick. The only thing that worked was when my friend did the pancake method, although that flooded on regular filling. I should have left that pancake method in because I can't replicate it. Alternatively, I just wicked my Mutation (MT) without taking half as much care and its working great. Go figure.
Correction: just tried actually putting the cotton all the way into the channels, but not really packed. The shoulders aren't really there on the cotton either. Good news is it isn't dry hitting or leaking, but the flavor is a bit muted.
