update:

just tried filling the tank up with water, without coil n cotton. it leaks.
somehow the water managed to seep pass the JFC even with an O-ring attached.
i've tried 13mm ID, n 8-9mm ID O-rings.

however, with the coil n wick installed, i encounter no leaking.
i even took the top-cap off n let it sit for 3mins, still no leak.

Macis, in theory you would think that it should not leak using water, but the huge difference in the viscosity of
e-juice and H2O is probably not the best of comparisons. But, I do understand why you would try it. Even with an o-ring installed you will probably never get a perfect seal due to the cutout of the juice channels at the very bottom. It's nice to know that it does the job when using the more viscous e-juice though. I imagine even with a coil and wick if you filled it with water it would still leak even with an o-ring. Not sure.

Good point, Raja. The thicker juice probably won't leak into the inner chamber as fast as water would.
I'm guessing that flooding/leaking problems are likely caused by the loss of vacuum pressure within the tank. Maybe a bad o-ring in the top cap, which should form an air-tight seal. Although the Serpent doesn't look anywhere close to a Kayfun, it uses the same principle as the Kayfun: vacuum assisted feeding.

Petemoss, I totally agree. Both my SS and my Black version are my favorite tanks at this time.....Truly the smoothest airflow (and quietest) of any of my tanks, with great adjustment down to MTL or open for DLH. Digging' da Serpent!
Yes it's so quiet, everytime i have to refill i'm surprized how it did that, almost without letting me know. It's not leaking at all since burp-filling it, and i haven't even put on an extra o-ring (my 81 cents / 50 'wrong'-sized o-rings still haven't arrived from China). And the flavor is just amazing. And its looks are stunning! Especially on my Kanger KBox mini 60 Platinum, which has rattling buttons, non closing batterydoor, no ss316 tc, offcenter slanted 510 connector, all of which is no problem as long as you don't really use it and look at it from an angle, without too much light.

yes, u r rite.

although i can't stopped the water from seeping pass the JFC without coil n wick installed, at least the speed of water seeping pass is considerably slower than u would have the JFC fully open.

n the JFC certainly does it's job as after i couldn't see a single drop of juice leaking whenever i refilled the tank.

Hello,
i've got my Serpent yesterday, and i have trouble configuring it for mouth-to-lung vaping.
Yep, i know that it not very supposed to be used that way, but i like it sooo much. The looks, topfill, flow control, ease of use (day vs night compared to subtank for me!) .
I tried 0.7 ohm (0.4 ga 25w), 1 ohm (0.4-0.32 ga 22-25w), 1.32 (0.32 ga 20w). Airflow open only for 1.5-2.5 mm. But it produces not so dense vapor as my previous device - Achilles. What should i try?
Thanks.
P.S. juice is 50/50, i won't go thicker:)

I ordered mine this past Saturday from Eciggity and received it today. Quickly wrapped my usual twisted Ti build (3mm ID @ .26 ohms) and it's producing some serious flavor. The airflow is plentiful and is what I expected. No leaks or dry hits after blowing thru a tankful. I leave the juice control wide open for my 85% VG DIY.

I seriously considered getting the EHPro Bachelor but airflow was a big concern for me so I decided against it, and I'm also not a big fan of sliding top-fill caps. I've never owned a sliding top-fill RTA but longevity/durability and vacuum pressure (or potentially lack of) concerns me.

My hunt for a dedicated single coil RTA with a spacious build deck and plenty of airflow for DTL is over (for now). Although the tank section on the Serpent can't be disassembled, that wasn't a dealbreaker for me at all...the protection which the tank section offers is a bonus. Overall this is a fantastic RTA...simple, really solid build quality, and it's just a fine vape.

I'd also suggest what @Leo Bak mentioned, you'll need to restrict the airflow in the base. The massive airflow from the center pin (I think its about 4.5mm)doesn't really work well for mtl, restrict that down to 2-2.5mm, and I think you'll be in business for some MTL.

The problem is, I believe, that the air hole on the deck is so wide that a there will be a lot of excess air not hitting the coil. The pressure of the air hitting the coil will also be quite weak with the AFC almost closed off.

What I did was I bought a 5mm OD/3mm ID PTFE tube on ebay, and stuffed a small piece of it in the deck air hole. It is still a quite airy MTL, but the vapor is way denser. I will try to restrict it even further (somehow).

It should be no problem during normal use but care must be taken when dry burning coil, certainly doable.

I have yet to rewick and dry burn it since I installed the PTFE, but I am a bit curious about that too. I guess that IF it melts a little bit and releases fumes, it will not be while vaping, so it should be ok. Maybe I will put something between the PTFE and the coil to heat insulate it, like a small knife blade or something like that.

I think silicone tubes could also be used, and I have read that they can withstand 300 degC, whereas white PTFE can withstand 260 degC.

So I have tried the first dry burn with the PTFE tube installed. I did it with a 2mm ID twisted coil (2x28G) 7 wraps, at 28 watts. No matter how many times I hit it, and pulsed it, it didn't seem to have any effect on the PTFE. Nor could I smell anything other than the odeurs from the burnt juice.

Don't take this as scientific evidence, but at least it seems to work for me in this situation.

It's a perfect pair isn't it?! Yeah I plan to try a Clapton too later but man my current twisted build is performing fantastic.

My twisted build works great too. I've tried claptons, fused claptons, SS316 and 304 in TC mode, and twisted kanthal is the best build for me. In this tank twisted coil gives you the best flavour, no matter 2 wires or 3 wires, 26 or 28g. Twisted builds in serpent are just splendid!
