Ive been reluctant to use the "pancake" wicking since i got the Serpent, simply because i have been using a different method for over a year on another tank.

Few days ago i wicked two tanks with Ryaon using pancake wiking method and the results so far have been very positive.

As some of you may know, Rayon can be challenging to work with when it comes to molding a wick and placing it on a very small deck on Serpent tank. Furthermore, you have to cut the tails on Rayon at 45 degree angle, at just the right length. Which is time consuming it self; its like trying to perform a surgery on a frog in a 8th grade science class.
Than place it all nice and pretty on to the deck, in hopes that it doesn't get misaligned when you screw on the tank. But, nice and pretty is just not possible.

As you screw the tank down, unscrew the JFC at the same time to your best ability to not disturb the position of the wick. It will take some practice but youll get the hang of it.

End result.
No need to close JFC when filling the tank and there is no leaking.

p.s.

Dont forget to lube with a bit of juice both O rings on the top cap before you screw it down. The O rings will last longer do to lubrication and top cap will be much easier to screw it down shut. Dont use force. If it doesnt feel like Astroglide smooth, then lube the O rings some more.

The pics below show how I ended up with placing rayon on the deck. I cut the tails per standard rayon procedure but lay them on the deck instead of tucking into the channels.

This method works really fine.

I think my dual coil RTAs are starting to get lonely. I've been almost exclusively using my Serpents lately.
haha, I have a few GREAT dual coil tanks that don't get used much ;) I use Sub Tank mini's (RBA) Monster Kayfuns and Serpents as my daily drivers these days :) no Idea why I even buy dual coil tanks anymore, chasing the vape still I guess lol...

Anyone have issues getting good flavor out of the tank? I've attempted multiple builds with no overwhelming success, and I'm starting to think that I can't get the flavor I want out of this tank, even if I choke off the airflow...

I've tried 24g micro coils (no stellar flavor here), fused claptons (burns if I inhale for too long), claptons (what has worked best for me so far), single 24g Ti and triple twisted 26g Ti for TC (OK, but nothing stellar, very dry quality to the vape).

I've also attempted to get the coil as close as possible to the air hole, and I've raised it several mm. With the clapton build I've got, I'm about 2-3mm above the hole and it's working fine.

Any advice or input on getting a very flavorful, moist vape out of this tank would be greatly appreciated. Do I need to rig up a reducer for the internal airflow?

I dont use any fancy coil configurations. SS 26g spaced wraps (7) or the same with Kanthal close to the hole. Airflow wide open. Thick dense flavorful vape. 40w on SS and 25w on kanthal works for me.

After a day and a half, 5 refills; one tank started to leak, while the second tank wick is gunked up. Same coils, same wicking, same juice, same mod, same mod settings.

Im good at figuring things out, fixing things or finding a solution. But, this tank is pain in the rear. My only guess of top of my head, is that it doesnt like Rayon, because eventually the tank starts to act up after a day if i use Rayon. It works fine with Cotton though.
And when im gently blowing into the drip tip to push out over flowed juice from air channels, the tank leaks.

sorry all, i just jumped in without reading all the posts here.

i wanted to placed an order for the wotofo serpent, but the lacked of replacement glass kinda turns me off.

may i asked if any of u here ever dropped ur serpent tank? will the glass break easily?

Macis, I did drop mine one time...on a hardwood floor from about 3 ft. with a heavy double 18650 mod attached (like a brick). It landed with the Serpent hitting first. No damage to the glass. Everything working perfectly. From the sound of it hitting I thought I would be needing to order a new Serpent, but all was well. I have not dropped an atty/tank in years but there is always that possibility, and then it happened! Thankfully this thing is a solid tank with the SS part of the tank section providing good protection. So far. I use this daily and carry it around in the car, walking, etc and feel it is just solid.

None of the edges (weak points) of the glass tank are exposed which helps.

I think you might have a wicking issue. How are you placing the wick?

Have you tried placing the wick on the deck instead of tucking into the channels?

OK, questions for you experienced serpent users. I got my first serpent today. Built a SS 316L coil. .56 ohms. Running it on cuboid with tcr set at .0100. This is the same coil setup and settings I run my tfv4 minis with. With the tfv4's, I get a good vape around 480-500 degrees. With the serpent, I had to jump up to around 560 degrees to get a comparable vape. I was wondering why. Is it the increased air flow? Also, so far, no leaks. I added an o ring below juice channels, as talked about earlier in this thread.

Have you messed around with wicking? That would be my first thought in a TC build if there are no coil issues. I had to to try 3 or 4 times before I had great wicking. The WestPole's pics at the end of page 27 is basically how I do it. More is better with this tank.

I'm using a 24g SS316L 9 wrap 2.5mm ID coil in one of my serpents. It came out to .39ohms, on my RX200 I set the TCR to 0125, and get a good vape around 470-500F, 40W. That mod has a similar board as the cuboid, so you could try using the SS preset, which I think I read is 0120, or try bumping up your manual setting to 0120-0130 and see how that goes.

On my DNA200 with the same build/serpent, TCR to .001 (lowest escribe allows), and usually use it at 480F/40W.

I would have to agree with JackMormon...I use lots of wick. Done almost exactly like WestPole. I end up with just a tad in the jc, but very little. I would also get great results in flavor and vapor with a kanthal Clapton. I rarely use TC on any of my tanks. But I like the way non-TC vapes. Old school. 0.48 ohm @25-28 watts is my sweet spot right now. Never had a dry hit on this (except the time I forgot to open the juice control after a refill. Duh.)
