So I got my A7 today and am using the wire/wick setup that came with it. The website says it is about 2.4. The vapor production is good, but I'm not getting all the flavor I'm used to with 1.7 shorty cartos. If I want to get closer to 1.7, what do I need to change? I have no idea what gauge this wire is, but it is pretty fine. Also, do the number of wraps make a difference, or is it the gauge alone that makes the difference? I didn't order any extra wire because I wasn't sure what I would want.

Try 4 wraps with the coil. That'll heat it up. That's what I am running. Good luck.

4 wraps with 30 gauge got me 1.33 ohms, 4 wraps with 28 gauge got me .99 ohms. I'll try 5 wraps with the 28 next to see what happens. I'm making the tight together coils that hildicat shows on page 12. Also be aware that total wire length from post to post effects the ohms. The longer the wire, the higher the resistance and hence the ohms will be higher.

That looks awesome Rellen! I just did the same thing, using 30 ga and 3 wraps! Weighed in at 93. Can't wait to try it tomorrow! Nice work!

Woo 1.23 ohms! MAKE sure that your wick is nicely soaked otherwise that sucker will BURN (unless you are using silica wick) and everything after will taste TERRIBLE. I've done it several times lol. Other than that you are going to be filling your room with so much vapor that you won't be able to see in front of you :vapor:

Nice work! Keep that wick soaked and it should be a crackin' vape. I don't know how you feel about opening up the air hole, but I've found that the extra air flow helps with very low resistance setups, plus it will crank out huge clouds. Of course that means the draw will be looser as well. I've come to prefer a looser draw but I know many do not. Just another variable to consider...

As I have read, I wet the cotton with juice, then let it sit for an hour (using my other REO during that time frame) before hitting.

I hit the .93 ohm coil this morning and it was like pulling directly off a blow torch, very warm. It was rad and all, but I just pulled it and built one with 30ga and 5 wraps. Weighed in at 1.34. Now it's put back together and soaking in juice.

I have been using a # 4 machine screw. it is about 1/16" dia. I also use a slightly longer piece of wire +/- 3" because I leave the tails nice and long so I can slip them in while still on the screw. I trim one tail ( the one on the left) about 1/4 - 1/2 " shorter than the one on the right. Makes it real easy to slip the right one in first then it doesn't pull out when putting in the left wire.

I use the screw to fine tune the position of the coil then tighten it down, reposition, then back out the screw. I have also reinserted the screw to make final adjustments.

I run a magnifying lamp as suggested by many here - seems like a must have?

All in all, very pleased with this. Now if I could just leave a set up in former than a day!

Oh, the unflavored nic is very kind to the coil - the wick just slips right out.

I'm too impatient to wait that long for a new wick. With most juices I can tell when its saturated. Two or three good squonks and you will see it take on the color of your juice and turn glossy. I then give it a couple of test fires and watch it sizzle. Apply top cap and vape away.

What ohms are you coiling on VVG? I coil 30g at ~1.1 - 1.2 Ohms with Grand.

1.8~2.2Ω for the VVG. Usually run between 4.2~5 volts depending on juice and mood. I like the 30g Kanthal but lately I've been getting good results with 28g and 8~10 wraps. I think the higher surface area of the coil makes for a thicker vape, plus the coils are much more sturdy. Once set up they seem to last forever and never disfigure even after multiple wick changes.
