Oooh, very lovely, Peekebe! I have to shave my neck before I get someone to snap my waterlily:facepalm:. I also need to cut my hair to let it show again. I'll admit (though I probably shouldn't) that I mainly grew it out to please my ex:oops:. Get that other one! I have too many ideas for the one that I'm going to get at some point during this month. As I've said, I totally blame Sneaky for the hurt it's going to put on my budget, but I've made the determination. And don't worry, Sneaky, just keep bumping this thread whenever it starts to sink down the line. Folks just aren't seeing it. We'll get plenty more ink in here, no doubt:D!

Thanks Beckyblue and thats the wonderful thing about hair you can grow it and then chop it all off :) Mine is blonde and purple right now and who knows what it will be in a couple weeks. And there is no shame in growing your hair for an ex!! Could have been a lot worse, you could have gotten a tattoo with their name or picture.......YIKES LOL!!

This is right after it was done (years ago). It's an old Norse symbol that travelers would use so that they would always find their way home. I'm not much of a traveler, but it's a nice metaphor. I replaced three of the eight symbols with other runes that had personal significance.

Nice! And I can tell that was snapped long after getting it, too. Gotta love the red puffy period:p! Leothwyn, even if you don't wanna elaborate on the runes you replaced, I've always wanted to know what the bar of music in you sig is...care to lemme know?

Thanks mourning. I really like the symbol that you posted - that definitely would make a nice tattoo.

Thanks :) The music in my sig is Three Ravens by Thomas Ravenscroft. It's a nice song... not a favorite or anything though. Just what I came up with when looking for an image of early music. How about the music in your tattoo? Is it a particular piece of music?

You know, I wanted to ask, Sneaky; but I have been burned so many times by asking folks for the meaning or significance of their tattoos that I just totally stopped asking a while back. I LOVE that story, though. Life at sea, with all its dangers, has always been intriguing to me, and I'm sure I overly-romanticize it; but I love the ocean so much, and there's a lure to it. Yes, you're right, what I said about not too much pain with tattoos might not apply to the bottoms of one's feet:ohmy:! The notes from the one I've put up so far are the line from "I Am The Walrus" that say "...standing in the English rain". Of course I adore The Beatles, but it's largely because, even though I love my country (though I have some gripes, for sure), I hope to live in England one day. I'd love to spend many, many a day "standing in the English rain". I promise this'll be the only song I'll post in this thread :)oops:). But if you'd like to hear my tattoo...

Out of an abundance of laziness that I've chronicled pretty well on this forum :)facepalm::facepalm:), I'll just use multiquote to re-post my little description of it, Leothwyn (lovely, romantic screen name, btw:)). Just booked a haircut, so my waterlily will see the light of day again, and it can feel like an f u to the ex, too boot:laugh:!

Still got a couple small details to touch up on it and might bring it down to my elbow just to fill it out. The moon and the Vegas silhouette are definitely my favorite parts. Hopefully ECF doesnt downsize them and theyre clear. If not I can repost

Sick!
I know you totally earned that one for sure. Your artist should have color bombed it and made it a true neo-traditional piece. Still that thing is rad!

You see what I mean? Now those are just calling out for a little description of the inspiration for them, right:D? Either way, though, they're great! I still have a big grin on my face from the little rich dude with the bottle of poison. Is he the Monopoly dude, or just a generic Mr. Moneybags? We...are...the %99:toast:!

Its actually the mascot for a soda that isn't around anymore. "Ritz" . I planned to do a lot of American icons but ended up just going American Traditional on that leg. I would get phone calls in the morning on my days off saying "hey....get your ... down here and get a tat"

The big one on my arm was a trade for an original acetate stencil from Sailor Jerry. (if you don't know what that is...its one of the FIRST stencil that was used when making tattoo's popular in the USA." I bought it for one of the artists cause he was like..one of the most talented artists that I know. Buddhist guy from Laos that I played COD with. Man he was probably the biggest .... talker that I ever knew, but he did it all with a smile on his face. I probably spent more time laughing at him in chat than I did playing the game.

Richie Rich tat is actually for a band which I intentionally put on the wrong side. The artist is my alter ego. Thumbs up if you even know who im talking about lol.

See, now THAT is some excellent backstory. I've got my own image conjured up of that Buddhist cat in my head, too. I love dudes just like that:2cool:. Who even cares if they're mainly full of it if they can spin a tale the right way? But you are killing me here, Brantis, because I'm clueless about the music reference. Thumbs down for me:cry:.

...Any more backstory from any past or future threadmates??

Oh, jeez, gimme a little credit here, Aaron. I know the music by now, and I've honestly dug so much of it! I only meant I'd google to learn more about the symbol, itself:facepalm::p!

Brantis, great tattoos! If you snap any more pics of your others, we'd love to see them; and any of the inspiration for them would be great, as well!

The symbol itself is just a design made up of the runes. Every song on their albums is about a different rune.

That band sounds really cool! When you mentioned the name before, I just assumed that they would be metal with cookie monster vocals. I don't know why I assumed that - there's so much other cool stuff coming from Scandinavian bands these days: Garmarna, Valravn, etc.. Some of their dark, instrumental tracks reminded me a little of some of the older Garmarna music.

Love Valravn! Saw them at Castlefest 2 years ago, was a great show. Wardruna is composed of members of some old school black metal band but they have evolved into something much more beautiful.

If your into Norse culture at all, and judging my your tattoo I am guessing you are I highly recommend you check them out and if you like it buy their stuff. Thing I love about them is they use ancient instruments, sometimes as simple as a log and sticks to make beautiful music.

Man, I'm jealous - that Castlefest looks so cool. If ever get a chance to go to Europe I'll have to time it so I can go to that.

Yeah, it is something I've been interested in for a long time. I'll definitely pick up an album soon. I love music that blends old and new elements like that. Do you know of many other bands doing this sort of thing? (Hopefully I'm not derailing the thread too much).
