This could take a while...

1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

1) Old Navy junk. Spent fifteen years in the Nav. "Hold Fast" is in legend an aid to handling rigging; The compass rose is so one doesn't ever get lost; The sailor girly is just classic Sailor Jerry flash. "Lori" is my ex :p.
2) A conglomeration of Ed Roth art. The driver was originally in a VW. We put him in a car I had when I was younger, a '68 Dodge Coronet R/T. Mine did not have a blown 426 Hemi however (though it did have a 440 Six Pak and a 4 speed ), but Hemis Rock, so the tattoo got one.
3) The Black Flag tattoo was my first. It's been re-inked several times; crossed anchors are the symbol of my navy rating, Boatswain's Mate.
4) Luv me some Gogol Bordello.
5) The family crest. Anytime you see a crest with the armored helmet and sword it's additional heraldry to the crest symbolizing that the family participated in the Crusades.

More...photo (2).jpgphoto (6).jpgphoto (7).jpgphoto (8).jpgphoto (9).jpg
1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

1) It's totally not a Hello Kitty pirate on my starboard ... cheek...
2) The cover of NoFX's "Pump Up the Valuum". Trivia: "Valium" on the cover is intentionally misspelled to preclude litigation.
3) Social D. Another oldy; Circle 10 was the designator of the factory in Bulgaria reputed for making excellent AK rifles. Bulgarian AK is best AK.
4) Swallows were tattooed by sailors to indicate mileage sailed at sea. Kind of irrelevant since we have mechanized propulsion these days, but I like swallows :).
5) Mr. Horsepower, the logo for Clay Smith Cams. Clay Smith was one of the first providers of economical hot rod performance engine parts as far back as the '30's. The "working mans" parts supply store. Before that D0u(he nozzle from Storage wars discovered it was a cool ... logo...

Oooh, entropy, those are fantastic!! But they really are just crying out for a little backstory/ inspiration...c'mon!

ETA - And I said this ^ before your second post, too. I'll nag you if you don't add some of the story, man. With all that, you could just come back and add a bit not in one fell swoop, either. Yeesh, is Sneaky gonna get me for making such a demand in her thread:unsure:?

Yup, it's 3 in the morning there, but you do owe the thread some words, entropy. Big time.

ETA - Gah! This post was made at the same time as your last one, or I wouldn't have harped on it. I would like to know what it feels like to get a tattoo right on my noggin like that, but I seriously couldn't pull off the whole Sinead look:laugh:! Great work, man, even if you weren't bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for all of them.

Paid in full. So excellent, honestly. %100 agreed about the coolness of Mike Ness; and I've got non-sexual girl-crushes on Cat Power and PJ Harvey, so you're all good on that one, no judgment:thumb:. You know who else liked kick-... Mr. Horsepower? Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap...

And I'll hook up any other threadmates who might want the quick reference...

I know this isn't thread-appropriate, but I like your new avi, Mac. Gotta say, it reminds me of the figure of a rakish fellow in a straw hat, a character in much literature used to invoke the foreboding character of Hermes, or another bearer of mischief and/or malady. Most immediately, I thought of Mann's Death in Venice when I saw it - Death in Venice - Modernism Lab Essays. The troll shirt provided a nice postmodern spin for me. Just a little free association in the tattoo thread, not calling you a guide to the underworld:laugh:!
