OK, guess I'll join in. Below is a one-shot live-ish improvised recording of me doing a Steve Vai cover, "For the Love of G-d."

At about 4:00 in, I start pulling out all my patented licks and tricks and start going ballistic at about 4:10 if you can make it that far.

Sorry, it's just audio. Enjoy!

Okay, once it started playing, I had to leave the window open and open a new one so I could continue browsing the forums. Sounds amazing! I think I'll keep hitting replay and let it run in the bakground for a while!

Homeish now
Yep, I used to do faires in my late teens, early 20s. The Escondido faire last April was the first faire I've been to since then. My wife was dying to see what they were like and she dragged me along. We'll be at the Escondido faire in October again too. We go with a group called The Black Company.

Hu what is the "The Black Company"??

We're a ren faire guild that does live steel fighting in full armor. Quite a few of us are also fire performers.

Edit: We also go to pirate faires, Burning Man, and various types of events. Most Fridays we have "Fire Fridays" where we get together, spin/breathe fire, eat, drink, smoke (or vape in my case), and have a generally good time. We're having one tonight in Mira Mesa. It's an open event for anyone interested.

Thanks for the heads up bro,

here's a better link to some more

Test 1, 2, and Pains Me were on Sony Acid,
the others are from a few years back, old skewl sequencing on a Ensoniq EPS with Alesis QS6 providing the tones going into a 4 track. old skewl, starving musician, budget get 'er done, system.

Wow, that's very impressive. I like Pains me... a lot.

The medieval march is very well written. Did you use midi for that? If so you should re-sample it with sound-fonts to make it sound more like "real" instruments.

When memories start out it reminds me of a James Bond-like theme. Are you singing that? Since I've been vaping I've lost a ton of range and my voice has gotten raspy. It's odd to say "I could sing better when I was smoking 2+ packs a day." lol

Listening to your other 2 songs (the tests,) I am really, really impressed with your compositional skills. You've got a gift for writing music.

Heh, I play guitar, my husband plays bass, and my friend plays drums. We're all pretty good, and all too lazy to form any sort of band =D

LOL. You guys are probably better off not being in a band. Though I would like to hear you guys play.

Fantastic guitar work. I wish I had the dedication to practice something enough to get that good. Only reason I manage to cook well is that I HAVE to do it just about every day ;)

Thanks, it's what I did for a living and what I studied in college. Lately though I've been mainly composing music for classical guitar because it's easier for me to play right now.

Hear you about vocals.
I'm not going to say vaping affects it though, for me.
But I was a heavy smoker and it didn't affect me when I was working.

I can't vocalize anywhere close to what I used to, mainly because I stopped doing it as much as I did (giging 4-6 nights a week).
Singing is like exercising, workout that muscle regularly and you're in great shape. Stop and you taper off.

Sallana,
Thats funny about playing good but too lazy to form a band. I've known people that formed bands but were to lazy to play!

Cool, I dabble with modest free Sony Acid program and free Audacity.

Acid was one of the first programs I used when I started producing 10 years ago. It still holds a special place in my heart. I love its simplicity and there is no better app for doing straight up sample chopping and rearranging, imo.

I've been saying that I don't have any artistic talent but I totally forgot about this poem that I wrote back on March 17, 2006. Don't ask me why I remember the day because I have no clue why,lol Since I posted it in another forum when I wrote it I have gotten it back in emails and text messages from people that have had no way of getting it from that particular forum, which makes me feel good since someone saw it and liked it enough to pass it around. I wrote this right after a huge fight with the hubby. One of the worst ones we ever had.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that
wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than
once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts
too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new
love for things an old one did. You'll cry because
time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose
someone you love.

So take too many pictures, laugh too
much, and love like you've never been hurt because
every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of
happiness you'll never get back
