Ugh. So I got my #19 a few days ago, and I finally got the bottom pin out of the switch assembly but for the life of me cannot get the magnet out. I've tried heat, more heat, and heat again (used my stove top and then a dunk in cold water). I haven't tried smashing it on the concrete floor of my garage (don't want to mess up the pin itself). Cant really grab onto it with pliers from messing up the magnet trying to get the pin out. I know I could just replace the entire pin, but that is a little more work than I would care to do for now.

Is there anything that I might be missing or not thinking of?

Just leave it in.....I've left them alone in all three of mine. They have very little resistance anyway (I measure < .1Ω through the magnet on all of them), so just polish them up & you're good to go.

The copper-wire mod (or one of the other mods to get better electrical contact between the switch & body) will give you a lot better bang-for the buck than removing the magnets.

Thanks!!! to minimalsaint I should be back in the 19 game by Wednesday!!!

After seeing the two tone mix I ordered two more from Vapor Tech, one ss and one brass (copper). The brass was a pre-order, but I got shipping info this morning and both were listed on the invoice....so maybe I got lucky and both will show up??? I wasn't in a hurry since I thought I would be waiting for the brass one and only did standard shipping .... SC to UT.... so hopefully Friday or Saturday.

So over the weekend I decided to make my own mod to try out one of the ideas I had for my custom 19 mag switch. Which was a brass tab soldered to the brass plate that would bolt to the center button shaft via the hex contact, thus a hard link from the battery to the mod body.

Here is a description and some pics.....sorry kind of off topic, but I thought you might enjoy it.

At first I was only going for a simple non-locking mag switch, but then stumbled into the realization that I could easily integrate a lock (not really applicable to the 19).

There is a brass tab soldered in with a hole for the hex battery contact to go thru. I originally had it soldered on both sides but it was to stiff so I removed one side and things are a little loose so it was causing the button to tilt a little bit so I started tweaking the brass tab so it would sit straight. Then I realized if I bend up the brass tab around the hex it will capture the hex and stop it from turning and voilà I had a lockable switch :D. There is nothing to stop it from screwing all the way out, but I'll take it.

I need to shorten the hex and make a delrin top piece, but it's getting close to done.

This is a 22mm switch with the Zenesis Z2 threads (stadard metric 20mm fine thread 20x1.5), the tube is just cheap aluminum. Tubes are really hard to do on my little lathe, but the Zenesis 2 ss tubes aren't to bad $35-$40.

Thanks!

I have a love/hate relationship with vape shops :D
Just need to take a hair off around the OD and it will almost look professional.

Absolutely gorgeous Bap :w00t: Nice work ..makes me want to go out & buy a mini-lathe.

It has a lot of the "Caravela" look to it - a "Bapavella"! :)

Alright. Would I need to get a metal file to grind down the magnet? I don't have a bench grinder (yet)...

Also, if my memory serves me correct the copper wire mod and the other fixes were near the start of the tread..

What you might be able to try, since you have the thing apart, is wrap a bit of tape around it, then slip it into a drill and just use sandpaper to wear it down a bit. It's metal so it takes some time to grind it down but it's an easy option and as long as you can hold the drill vertically, it should work.

I'm tool deficient myself so that's what I've been doing to cut down on the less than horizontal nature of the magnet (but it still looks like it's wrong, so periodically, I still grind a bit more off - as long as I don't get to the brass, I figure I'm not killing anything - wish I had some decent tools .....).

Its funny that the other brass cap mods was posted here recently. I ordered a brass 19 about a month ago, USPS updated delivered, but i got nothing. Been dealing with UPS on the issue, trying to get my money from them since it came into MY post office and got signed out to someone other than me... So in the meantime i ordered the SS version, received and have been using it. Then today, I got it the original in my mailbox. It was completely opened, fingerprints and all. So i figured id try it out. I felt like it hit a little better than the SS, so i swapped the button over to the SS with nzonic cap. I like this, its not as fancy as the other cap but it works for me

Did they at least leave you a sample of the ejuice they used? :)
