Well I finally got busy today and got my sig re-noaloxed, got those new 18490s charged yesterday, and since I started using the rayon wick, it seems I can use the nano kit with my kayfun, that was giving me so much grief with a cotton wick. Using the shorter battery and shorter tank makes an AMAZING difference -- this is actually a simulated pic, because I don't [yet] have 2 sigeleis, but I tried to make it as close to scale as I could, to really compare the size. I'm flabbergasted!

Me likee. I ordered some Virginia WTA from Aroma today, so I can get rid of these stupid cigarettes again. You know I had to be really suffering, to go back to them after 115 days. But I'm about over the appendix thing and the surgery, so I gotta get back over the smokes too.

Noalox: No I don't and have been looking for some but its not available in Australia. Am looking for something simular as I fully understand the need for it. I also suspect you are right about potential poor connection being the cause. Just need to find "Noalox" down under ................suggestions welcome but will Google around.

I'm sorry to hear that Noalox is difficult to find in Australia. I found a thread where some folks from Australia were also trying to find a substitute for Noalox. One vaper was using "conductive carbon grease" that was purchased at JayCar which is apparently a chain of "electronics supply" stores in Australia you might be familiar with. That product sounds like it could be a good substitute for Noalox. Another link was provided for Noalox at www.vapebar.com (Australian vape store) but that site was down when I tried it. It was "down for maintenance" but I got the feeling it might be shut down permanently (might be worth checking back later just in case).

Barring the above, I would just recommend caution when using many of the other "lubricants" that are recommended out there (petroleum jelly, WD40, oil, e-liquid, etc. ). They will most certainly make the threads work nice and smooth, but will add no real benefit in terms of increasing electrical conductivity (and some may actually do more to impede it). The best type of product to use IMO would be a lubricant impregnated with conductive particles such as zinc, copper, carbon, etc. I've found that these are normally the only products where the manufacturer will specifically state in the product description that they "improve electrical conductivity", whereas other products may only state they "lubricate" or "prevent corrosion".

Hopefully you'll find something "down under" that will work well for you. :)

I found this at Ideal Industries, the Corporate HQ for Noalox.

also this for IDEAL INDUSTRIES AUSTRALIA...

Noalox cured my first V3 of virtually all of its misfires and random menu switching. I applied Noalox to my second V3 as soon as it arrived as a precaution. I haven't applied Noalox to the V5 yet as I want to wait for it to misfire first.

Hey everyone

Well it's time for a new mod (RIP Provari) and the Zmax has me ready to pull the trigger.
Just two questions though: Will my 18490 batts work? What's the difference between the SMOK
version and the Sigelei?
Yes, you can use any of these batteries in a Sigelei Zmax V3 or V5 right out of the box: 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650 or 2x18350. You can use flat top or button top batteries. Use non-protected IMR or high-drain hybrid batteries only, just like the Provari.

Smok and Sigelei are two different Chinese e-cig manufacturers. Both use the Zmax chipset designed, made and sold to other manufacturers by Yihiecigar. Smok and Sigelei use different hardware, firmware and electronic components.

I think the Sigelei APVs are superior to Smok. Design, machining, materials and QC are better. Smok has a bigger distribution network in the US and their product is more frequently seen in brick and mortar stores. Look closely if you are interested in either.
Good Sigelei deals at Desert Vapes.

$57 is not a bad price for a kit. I think most of us started with a kit.

If you already have 18xxx batteries and a charger then buying body only is a better deal. I advise most new to Sigelei V3 or V5 to buy a body only device first as well plus a couple of quality batteries and a Nitecore charger separately.

Hi all,

I've been researching this extensively and still have yet to find everything I need to know.

So the V5 comes in flat or round/slanted top. I will be pairing this with a Nautilus Aspire and want it to be completely flush. Problem is is that the flat top still has a slight bevel so it will not be truly flush.

The research I've done suggests that I would be best off getting the round top, and then pairing this with a provari ring (please advise if this is incorrect).

Provari beauty ring on zmax v5

And the link with the different Provari rings:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provape/541402-great-2014-provari-ring-roundup.html

So my question is, which provari ring would I want to get to pair with a round top Zmax V5? For a flush connection between the Zmax and the Aspire Nautilus, but not so high that the tank doesn't make a solid connection.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

Excellent reply, thanks for all those suggestions and facts. Rather than quoting all your post, I selected the above two points:
Noalox: No I don't and have been looking for some but its not available in Australia. Am looking for something simular as I fully understand the need for it. I also suspect you are right about potential poor connection being the cause. Just need to find "Noalox" down under ................suggestions welcome but will Google around.

Unprotected Battery: Yeap I believe so and the place I purchased the V5 from selected them and packaged them in for me; I am using LG 18650 HE2. I am sure there are better batteries out there and will look around in time.

Thanks again for that great summary

If your in a bind with no noalox, you can use a strip of aluminum foil in 18650 mode. I did that before I got noalox and it proved the issues were from the thread contact continuity. Cut a strip the size of the threads wrap it around 1 1/2 - 2 times( depending on thickness of foil) hold it in Position and work it into the threads with a finger nail so it conforms. While holding carefully thread the tube on to length. You don't want to back it off so try to get it set to length the first time. Check internals for any foil and chk on battery change so you do not get any foil pieces at the positive connection or you coil SHORT the battery. I did this for a while before I got noalox and it worked.

I don't use the Aspire Nautilus so I can't provide expert advise for you. We do have several Nautilus users on this thread that may check in soon.

In the meantime, here are links to some good photos of the Nautilus on a Sigelei V5 rainbow w/flat top provided by Purplepeeps. Some users just unscrew the Sigelei top cap to close up the gap a little.

After clicking these links give them a couple of seconds to load and center themselves on your page.

And here is MotherNatural's shot of a Kayfun Provari beauty ring in action with a Sigelei round top.

If Noalox isn't available in Australia, then how about Ox-Gard?

And if not that, then I can't imagine there not being at least one product that closely resembles the stuff..

It's not like an anti-oxidant goop that helps with electrical conductivity is only an American thing, no?

There's got to be some hardware stores -- either online, physical location or both -- down there..

Check the electrical section...

Also, how about some kind of automotive parts store?

Pulled the trigger on the Zmax, should be here by Monday! My Provari died on Thursday & I'm not sure as of yet why, but thankfully I carry my MVP around in my bag for a back up.

Interesting..

My 2nd ProVari should be here in today's mail, and I'm thinking about getting rid of my Zmax V3..

More details on your ProVari?

How old is it? Did something happen to it? How does it not work? Assuming it's not under warranty?

Not trying to turn this into a ProVari (or ProVari-bashing) thread, just curious.. :)

And I like my Zmax, it's a nice PV for the price & style.. But I'm not a huge fan of any 33.3 chip, and I'm squarely in the ProVari camp these days...

It's about 2 yrs old.
Not sure what happened, the light was blinking so I changed the batt & it just died. I think the contact pin may have gone bye-bye.
I've dropped it twice on concrete but my Phyniac tank held up well though.

Hi all! I just ordered a sigelei zmax v5 and I have a question about what batteries to use. I have a SID right now, and use either:

18650 Panasonic CGR18650CH Hybrid IMR
Amazon.com: 4pcs Panasonic CGR18650CH 3.6 Volt Li-ion Battery 2250 mAh: Everything Else

or

AW IMR18350 700mAh LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery
AW IMR18350 700mAh LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Depending on whether I'm home or out and about.

Will these batteries also work in the Zmax. I know the size of the batteries will be fine, but I wanted to make sure that the rest is ok. I don't know about button top vs. flat top, protected etc....

The Panasonic and AW are good batteries.

You can use any of these batteries in a Sigelei Zmax V3 or V5 right out of the box: 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650 or 2x18350. You can use flat top or button top batteries. Use non-protected IMR or high-drain hybrid batteries only. I vape 6.5 to 7.5 watts and use Efest red IMR V1. Efest V1 is flat top, Efest V2 is button top.
