You guys made me go and check my V3 for a top cap that unscrews. I think I bought the Sigelei in late summer and mine doesn't screw off, either. I didn't try putting it on my vise with the rubber adapter jaws and using channel locks. I"m not that curious!
Maybe mine is one that is press fit. I don't have a need for eGo threads at the moment, but I do have to use an adapter for the TS3/Evod style tanks. Anyone have a history file link for dates and variations and identifying marks to see what I have? I know it's a V3, for what that's worth.
It's easy to identify V3s with the removable top cap from the earlier version V3s. The photo here shows what to look for.
The V3 with removable top cap is shown on top. There is a flange from the 510/eGo connector assembly visible between the top cap and the main body.
That flange is shown again, this time with the V3 top cap removed. The new one-piece stainless steel 510/eGo threading is shown.
The two Sigelei V3s shown above have different firmware versions. This accounts for spelling changes in the menu and maybe some other changes yet to be discovered in V3. So far two firmware versions are identified for V3: SI V1.1 and SI V1.5a. Version SI V2.0a seems to be unique to V5.
How to display the firmware version:

buzzkill657 reports and photographs the first V3 with removable top cap on October 18, 2012. Photo shows one-piece SS 510/eGo?

JeremyR photos show internal component improvements on a V3 with removable top cap. The display mounting is different as is a half-round support for the circuit boards.

The use of Sigelei logos are all over the place. Some showed up in Europe during the summer. New V3s with removable top caps may or may not have logos. If they have logos, the placement may differ. All V5s seem to have Sigelei logos.
