Wow... I'm shocked to discover that my button has the same white plastic showing. Ordered it Apr 12, probably got it about the 15th...

I don't remember exactly when I got this one, sometime in early spring. It has been fairly heavily used.

Metal button on my two month-old V5 from Desert Vapes. I've been using this just about all the time since it arrived.

Never mind. Botched post.

I still see it...?

The button on yours is definitely different than the one on my v3; mine does have the power symbol, and appears chrome-finished rather than brushed. I always figured mine was plastic under the chrome, but it does seem surprising that the plastic would show this soon - approx 2 1/2 months use, and not exclusive, I've continued using my vv3s at various times too, so I don't think I'd call mine "heavy" usage... maybe "moderate". Though I did tend to chain-vape, which might also be part of the reason for the dehydration/edema problem, just too dang much vaping! :D

Certainly better than a pristine looking, non-functioning button. Still, it bugs me. I wish I could justify purchasing yet another Sigelei; I'd order a V5 and see what it has..:)

That's kinda how I feel about purchasing one of those v5s from FT, to see if it comes with that nifty flat top-ring. :D No more boogering around with a kayfun ring to get a smooth line! But if it didn't come with that ring, I'd really be peeved.

If certain performance or appearance details are crucial to your potential APV purchase then contact the vendor regarding any of these details before purchasing. I have mentioned many times on this thread that Sigelei products change as they are developed and improved and many online shops do not change product descriptions or photos often enough to reflect these changes. If these details are important to you they should be important enough to deserve an inquiry before buying. If the vendor wants your business enough they will be happy to answer your questions. If not, they won't answer and you should do business elsewhere.

If you want to avoid shiny button trauma... We know (to the best of our knowledge) that the chrome plated plastic buttons have the power symbol on them and the metal buttons have a flat face without the symbol.

Slotted top caps may or may not be available on V5s currently sold by FT. That's all we know.

If you want to know more just ask the vendor by phone or email. Passing the info along here adds to the knowledge base.

I agree that this would be the best idea, but I wonder how effective it would be with FastTech -- my own experience with the Chinese has been that since English isn't their native language (in fact it's VERY FAR from their native language!), they often don't even seem to understand what's being asked, or are able to answer in a way that makes any sense.

Anyone know, if attempting to communicate with FastTech is in any way a useful undertaking?

That hasn't been my experience with FT - the few times that I've enquired, they've responded in near-perfect English, almost slangy even - better than some US vendors I've dealt with. Pictures do help (like Yzer's pic of the metal button or the slotted flat top on the FT forum), and keep your wording straightforward, concise and to the point (don't get too verbose - even I can't follow those). They're not like eBay stores. Those guys get very thick in the accent.

...now with their tremendous volume, will they have time to respond in a timely manner? :?:
If you have laundry list of likes and dislikes, I'd try a US vendor first. They're smaller and their CS is a lot easier to get to. :2c:

Hi, folks.

So, I'm expecting a new Sigelei Zmax V5 in Gun Metal (with the metal button) at some point today if the postman/woman/person ever decides to show up. :D Needless to say, coming from a Spinner battery, this should be a really nice upgrade! Can't wait!

But I wanted to ask -- would you guys suggest I get some Noalox from my local Home Depot and start using it right away on the threading? Any other things I should do in a preventative sense?

Thanks for your time,
John.
