You guys won't believe this :(
My fire button and screen are acting funny.
I was thinking maybe one of the times I used it I screwed it down too tight, but I'm not sure about that because the screen is not crooked and the fire button does not appear off - center..
What is happening is that the screen cuts out sometimes..it will still fire, though. In this case I dismount the battery and reinstall and it will fix it (until the next time, lol)
Another thing is that now there is some lag time between the fire button deploying and the display lighting up.
I have heard that perhaps cleaning the threads and noaloxing them might help.
Could this be a conductivity issue, or did I booger this thing up?
I was using a VIvi Nova tank for a bit but only screwed it down until it was finger tight and no more.
I'm back to the Vamo temporarily 'till i get my hands on some noalox.
Sheesh..:p

While I wait for my Zmax to arrive I thought I'd hit you fine users up with a vv/vw noob question. I've read up and understand each but not sure how they interact on the same device. So if you set your wattage output on the zmax, does that automatically override the voltage setting? For instance if I set my voltage at 5v and vape for awhile but then go into the menu and set a wattage level, does the device "forget" my previous voltage settings and adjust automatically based on my carto resistance?

Just A Suggestion ...

Alcohol Bath ... Using 90% - 99% Isopropyl Alcohol

Alcohol and the shake, should be enough to clean out the electronics, including any contacts.

Small shallow pan of some sort
Pour in enough Isopropyl Alcohol, so that the ZMax would be completly submerged
Lay your ZMax in the pan, button, screen faced down
- ZMax ... ONLY the upper section which contains the button & screen.

After a minute of soaking ...
- Allowing the alcohol to fill in the chamber were the electronics are at.

Take the ZMax out, button & screen facing up ...
- Shake it up best you can while the remaining alcohol is still inside were the electronics are at.
- Drain the remaining alcohol

Repeat the whole thing over a few times at least, or as many times as you want.

Alcohol and the shake, should be enough to clean out the electronics, including any contacts.

Just A Suggestion ...

With a steady hand, you can sand/file down the center post, if so desired.

- Andy

Yes, that will help but only a little and only with some atties. For now when I screw Kayfun to it, it doesn't even touch the top of the center post. So the issue is very high conector inside conector (you what I mean ;) ). So the proper way to do it will be to shorten this conector inside conector, and of course shorten top part of outside conector. That will do the trick, but how to do this? Maybe someone disassemble Zmax?

Check the center post on your atomizing device. It may need pulling. I've seen the same symptoms a couple of times and a good post pull fixes it. I usually see this issue after running the same carto for several days.

After a cleaning, of all contacts & threads, also the inside of the battery cap & spring.

Don't attach anything to the 510 connector on your zmax

Test out the menu system ...
- see if it's working as it should normally
- menu system should be clear, bright, and stable, no flickering

Pressing the button to fire ...
- screen should display almost immediately and stay on till the button is released, or untill 10 seconds has passed.
- screen display has a 1 second lag, after the button is released ... normal

While holding the button, if you move it around, the screen's display should be stable ... no flickering of any sort.
- if the display flickers in and out ... then ... the button's contact on the electronic might be dirty.

* After a cleaning, of all contacts & threads, also the inside of the battery cap & spring.
* If your zmax is showing the same problems, without anything attached to it ...
* There is a problem in the electronics, something on the circuit board is acting up.

The "Alcohol Bath", I mentioned earlier ...
- last resort for the daring.

I will try all of the above...
Then I will do the alcohol bath if all else fails.
It was working really good and it just started acting up for no obvious reason.
I saw pbusardos review on it and I know i didn't screw mine down as far as he did.
If nothing else works and I figure it's toast..I'm tearing it apart to take a look-see, lol

You bought yours from Varitube with a 90-day warranty. If it's done for I wouldn't tear it apart so you can return it. You are still covered on the warranty.

Mine came today. It looked as if the screen was all scratched up. I remembered someone on this thread received one with a scratched up screen. I thought I was in the same boat. Then, I pealed off the plastic protective coat and everything looks great. I'm wondering if the other guy figured it out or returned it.

Man, I think I like this better than my evic. It hits good.

LOL that happened to me with my VariMax.
I got it, and was like, "What is going on with my screen?'
The more I tried to clean it, the worse it got, lol
Then I was like, "oh, wait....."

OK, the only mod I have ever used has been an evic. Why is this Sige hitting harder and producing more vapor than my evic at .5W less power? Same atty and, I won't have my AW batts until tomorrow. I'm using the protected Panasonic straight from my evic.

I always thought of a mod simply as a battery holder with monitoring features. Now I understand there is more to it.

I got paid today and was going to get a Provari. I think I still will, but maybe I should really learn how to use this one first.

It's like my eyes just opened. Everything has changed. Bad news for my bank account.

Enjoy your Sig Zmax. As an owner of 2 provari minis, the Sig performs on par with the ProVari. However, the additional monies spent for a provari will yield an American made APV, which has stellar design and execution of build. If that is significant to you, then the extra premium is well worth it.

Thanx Andy, maybe I'll hold off on the Provari for now. I really like VW and am hoping for it on the next version.

Ahhhhh CRAP. That was me  Actually I had wondered that and tried to peel the protective coating off but it was so seemingly permanent on there that I thought it was...well, a permanent coating. I just mailed it back Tuesday and now am wondering if the vendor will do a huge facepalm when he sees it. BAH!

I just want to say that in my day job I'm not a complete idiot.
