Make sure you buy the protected 14500 calli, it will say protected in the description.

As for the online mod class: I'll be putting up a pictoral on a quick USB passthru tomorrow, and possibly one for a magnum. If I get to frys at a decent hour and pickup a webcam, I'll do it live with a yahoo messenger conference or somesuch.

Is there a picture, or a link to a picture, of the mod in question?

Yes, but you might be familiar with the mod of the NicoStick. :D

I am not asking for an endorsement just that if I order this the odds are that my mod will work and my batteries will work with the charger.
I am having a hard time making my order and just saw that the batteries I previously linked were not protected.

I have found these protected batteries
Protected UltraFire 14500 AA sized 3.6V Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery 900 mAh CR14500 Lithium Ion

with this charger
Ultrafire wf-138 3.6 volt Lithium-Ion AA / AAA battery charger

Will they work with the NicoStick?

I am more interested in the NicoStick of which I currently have a ramshackled 3/AA version for my 801. I would like the batteries for it and for a 901 build. A USB passthrough is currently in the works but instead of relying on my husband a class would be great.

Calligal, that last battery you linked to is the exact one I used in the pictures in the NicoStick thread. They will work splendidly. The charger you linked will work also, but want to give you a heads up that I have seen reports of that particular charger being a very snug fit for a 14500 - it can be done but requires some strength. The WF-139 costs about $2 more, but will fit more battery sizes as well - you may someday want to charge a 18650 battery for a mod with very long battery life. The charger I use is a Trustfire model TR-001. I love it, but had to wait for it to get here from DX - price was less than $9. I believe I have read others really praising the WF-139, so if waiting isn't an option that is the one I would recommend.

I am always willing to answer questions for those who are trying to build their very own NicoStick. That is why I posted the discussion thread, so we could all share our experiences with it and get advise and answers when we run into snags.

I think StormyNights is speaking of a different box mod. I will have to find out which one she is referring to.

Thanks Nerf - Is the passthru tutorial up? My husband is eyeing an old broken nose trimmer to do mine on. Now a magnum tutorial is one I would be interested in if you can do it using the trusted batteries. Obviously I would need a detailed parts list.:p

Nicowolf - Thanks for the advise and confirmation. I thought I saw on an earlier post someone offering a NicoStick class but after reviewing your guide and with the discussion thread I think I just may get one done the right way.

USB passthru tut isn't up yet, I had a thousand things to do today and not nearly enough time. Maybe I'll do it right now :)

As for a magnum with protected batteries, a single protected 14500 will fit in a magnum, you'll just need to trim the springs a bit (maybe). If it rattles, just shim it with some paper inside the PVC pipe.

Honestly, my fiirst reaction to your posts was "Would you like me to wipe your ..., too". If you aren't prepared to figure stuff out for yourself and learn to solder, I'd suggest that modding probably isn't for you and you'd be happier buying a mod from a member or from the GG guy.

Feel free to tell me to go F**k myself. :D

lol ok i'll tell you! man bad day? hope you're not an instructor :-x many of us have few technical skills and wouldn't know a red wire from a green one. don't need hand holding, but clear instructions and why's are helpful to noobs. if someone doesn't need help = they don't need a class to teach them.

sign me up too, but can we get a parts list for our models of e-cigs? I don't have a 901.

thx guys!

you are right..most of the people are learning mods as a hobby. I have 6 new 801 batteries and usb passthrough and am happy with the throat hit but I still want to make something...just for kicks..

Did everyone get a look at Nerf's tutorial? His pictures and step by step instructions are very good. It should be very easy for us to follow. We can start working on it now. After you get yours made. Please let us know. I am sure Nerf would like to know how many get made from his instructions. Thank you Nerf. You did a great job.

Thanks! I'm planning another one for tomorrow night at 8PM CST, it might be another passthru (different style, and using radioshack connectors as I won't have the OEM ones in stock to ship out for probably 2 weeks if I figure in shipping time.)

I'd do a boxmod, but I think Nicowolf has that covered, and I don't want to steal her thunder :)

I missed the class but reviewed the pics and the parts were listed which were used. I love the see thru blue box.

Question- using only radio shack parts means using a solid black box. That means drilling an additional hole for the led? Or would we just add the resistor and bypass the led?
Could you post the required parts that you will be using from RS if they are different please?

Nico has an upgraded version of the NicoStick he wanted to perfect before doing the class. It sounded pretty exciting.

Right! Sorry, I forgot about the LED hole in a black box!

Using radioshack parts, you'll have to gut the box, pliers and side-cutters work great for this, and drill a small hole for the LED. I like to drill my LED hole a bit small and shove it in there as hard as I can, then glue over the compression fit.

The resistor is ONLY used if you're using an LED, and must be run in parallel to your atomizer connection, if you run it in series you'll quickly find your atomizer isn't getting enough power to run properly.

I only have a 4x AA box on hand right now, but I could do a tutorial on that if you guys want, its the same concept as a 2x box, just wider. I'll be making the next tutorial thread in the main modders forum, post your requests there for what you'd like to see made.
