Sorry... More questions about the kayfun / Semovar combination:

What coil and wick are you using? The kayfun Mini worked well with both the figure eight Ekowool, and just about any microcoil. It worked excellent on either the Ego Twist, or the PV. I am having a bit more of a challenge with the 3.1 on the eVic, but I am also fighting the dastardly numb tongue / vaper's tongue issue, so it might be my imagination.

Cloud 9 was out of the adapters when I ordered but I have one on the way from Vapor rev. Im using 30 gauge 5 wraps 1.8 ohm with 2mm silica I think I have 4 strands figure nothing just shoved in there willy nilly.

Ya, Berlin. Rubber thingies.

But I stick to my story. I never tried the rubber thingies.

With slica, 30 ga gave me excellent performance in the kayfun mini. Microcoils with 30 ga also worked excellent, and that is what I kept using.
With the Kayfun 3.1, it seems like it takes longer to heat up with the microcoil. Maybe it is because of the larger chamber. The vape is a little cooler, and really smooth. I am using an eVic, and am curious if either the Semovar or Provari would provide more initial current, allowing the coil to heat more quickly. Maybe its just the noises in my head trying to justify buying another PV. Of course, watching Person of Interest doesn't really help the noises in my head, either.

Well Provape could easily slap one of these on a Provari....
So please tell which mods use them.

Matt Olmstead From Fazed Box Mods makes really nice mods with Both the Nivel Chip and DNA20. Additionally, Mamu has made some Nivel devices. Another nice one here...Power Bank Nivel Mod

The Nivel chip came out around the same time as the DNA 20 if I recall. The accessibility of the DNA 20 along with the 20W max power has made it a preference for most modders here in the US. I know there were some issues keeping up with the demand of the Nivel Chip though I suspect we will see them more often eventually as it is a great chip.

Provape im sure is happy with their propitiatory technology and I don't believe would ever outsource their chip sets

In another thread someone posted about the DNA 20.
So of course I emailed them asking a few questions, and of course I asked about the Nigel chip
Yes subjective and this guy did or does own a Provari here is what he had to say.

"Sure, glad to speak to a local. The Nivel has a couple of problems, the most
evident being its low current max. Plus the board interface is klugy and
difficult to work with. The DNA does regulate at low batt levels and doesn't
need to be both VV and VW. Trust me, VW is better.

You can't get one in stainless since the tubes are made of 7075 aluminum
(caps are stainless, though). Our alloy is strong as steel and a lot
lighter. But you could have one in clear-coat. Hope you order soon! Thanks."

hmm kinda sounds like a push to make sure you buy theirs.

the low amps dont matter much 15 is plenty for a vv/vw mod if you build the coil correctly. and just to be clear the Semi is both VW and VV
its funny how since the subohm craze hit we suddenly forgot that regular resistance worked great for years now lol.

not sure how the board is hard to work with since they come prewired from most of the vendors i inquired into. they even offer the USB port charger option like the dna.

a couple reviewers have now noted, its not a failure in any way, but they have mentioned the DNA cannot be dialed down as low as most vv mods.
just so its clear I also own a provari a nivel and waiting on the dna20 futura now. and my fare share of mods driving low res coils and i have no real plans on trying to drive the futura very hard, i just like the amount of effort they put into the mod itself. very well built.

so far If you offered me a nivel mod like the semovar with the customer service of provape, i dont think i would try anymore, as it is i picked up a blown provari and was planning on repairing it as thats cheap to do.but since using the semi i think i will gut it and get the nivel in there instead lol

Nice....I have several Provaris and they barely get used now that I have Nivel mods. That is not a knock against Provape. I know they are there and are my tried and true. I do happen do have a Provari that took one too many falls, What a great idea!!! I should send it to one of our favorite modders for a new engine...lol

I think you will have more stable power with a Provari or a Semovar They use a better chip and they dont have the aggravating cut off time. Well thay have a cut off but its not 9 seconds like the evic you have plenty of time to take a vape before it cuts off. IMO the cool thing about the evic is the online functions mod performance is mediocre at best.

Ive used eco wool and silica in the kayfun both work well. I like the mini also I say get a Semovar now cause you life is incomplete with out it and I hate to see you walking around with that void in you life. Then get a Provari for Xmass;-)

I have a DNA and it is a very nice chip but IMO it needs to be mounted in a box mod with dual bats to be enjoyed best as it really burns threw the batteries. Ive seen posts of build quality issues with the cyborg Im sure it is a nice mod but I dont think it deserves to be mentioned in the same thread as the Semovar or Provari. For starters it is physically impossible for alu to be as strong as SS Its harder to keep alu scratch free and much harder to maintain alu as its so soft its hard to buff.

Alu dose have better conductive property's than SS though. But that is not such an issue with regulated mods I just have a hard time paying top dollar for alu mods cause it is cheaper and easier to machine than harder metals. 20W is never needed but fun to have and use Hi resistance coils just so you can crank up the power;-)

Now I remember. I think it was you I Pm'd about your Semovar vs Provari.
In fact almost sure of it; and your statement was " If I close my eyes I couldn'd tell the difference".
I even refrenced it in this thread....

I think the futura needs to be spoken in the same thread as the samovar or provari- ballistic grade aluminum with a finish equal or better than a provari. simple and beautiful without the need to buy extensions or extras......

I scanned the review, so I could have missed it, but I wonder how it is on voltage output accuracy?

I notice it has the same amp limit as the ProVari, and the same ohm range.

It is a very nice looking mod, and seems to have some pretty serious effort put into it's build/construction. I hope PB does a review on it soon. I think it is a bit premature to say that it surpasses the ProVari, but it certainly looks like a very nice mod. I will keep an eye out for it!

I sincerely appreciate my ProVari and what it does for me, but I know one thing, ProVape better at least try something other than a new J-Wrap to do something "new."

Im sure they are working on something, but keep in mind it is a very powerful device.
I don't need another anything as I have two. But wants now thats different, and I am really in no hurry to buy
something I deem to be a high end want lol.
