I did a under load test with a Provari and a Semovar
I put both mods at 4.2 volts first I used a atty that measured 2.7ohms
The Provari under load 4.2 volts
The Semovar under load 4.19

Next I used a dual coil atty measuring 1.7 ohms
Both mods set at 4.2 V
Provari Measured 4.19
Semovar 4.17

So it seems in my mind The Provari is still the champ its close just a couple hundredths of a volt but the Provari is regulated just a little better.

Also the Semovar will work with a inline meter so its not the cheap low frequency PWM chip the Chinese use.

I used a 510 to 510 extension with alligator clip leads hooked to a multi meter for the test.

There's enough stray resistance variation in the setup for the numbers to be equivalent.

Ok, I'll shut up now

Matt Olmstead From Fazed Box Mods makes really nice mods with Both the Nivel Chip and DNA20. Additionally, Mamu has made some Nivel devices. Another nice one here...Power Bank Nivel Mod

The Nivel chip came out around the same time as the DNA 20 if I recall. The accessibility of the DNA 20 along with the 20W max power has made it a preference for most modders here in the US. I know there were some issues keeping up with the demand of the Nivel Chip though I suspect we will see them more often eventually as it is a great chip.

Provape im sure is happy with their propitiatory technology and I don't believe would ever outsource their chip sets

I wouldn't put it past the Chinese to reverse-engineer it, nor would I put it past ProVape to lightly encrypt instruction sets on-chip and patent the hell out of it..and enforce those patents to the teeth..and not license the tech behind - it's their "secret sauce". God knows their tube designs aren't. ;)

This thread has gone pretty deep, so please excuse me for not reading all the way through and possibly restating something:

I have the ProVari, a DNA-20 mod (Fluid Cyborg), and the Semovar with the Nivel chip. I am only speaking to battery life in this post.

In order, from longest life to shortest, my experience has been ProVari..DNA-20....Nivel.

The ProVari circuit and the Evolv DNA-20 are close in battery life, but the Nivel eats batteries for breakfast by comparison - close to 2 times faster than the DNA-20 and ProVari.

I welcome others to post their experience with the Nivel-based mods.

PS: All based on subjective experience. I didn't run a "Full Busardo" on it ;)

Interesting!

under actual usage I doubt anybody could tell the difference- not only with these devices but many others ,also(like any dna20). but if it helps you sleep at night more power to you.........

Why thank you i need all of the power I can get and you concern for my good sleep is much appreciated.

I was going to get a semovar as I had read great comments about it, but then I heard a batch of these sm mods came out faulty.
I still haven't had the chance to verify that myself, but if that shows to be true, even if they replaced the faulty mods for free, that wouldn't really give me a good impression about their quality assurance.
Hence I think I'm gonna get a provari instead as it seems to be way more reliable, although I really wish it had some more "recent" features.
Oh and yeah, it seems like it consumes less battery power, which I find an important detail.

all mods in 18650 mode - from left to right
megatron hybrid
poldiac
provari
semovar
vamo.

The semovar is slightly longer because of the modular design, being able to unscrew the electronics section you also need to have seals and contacts built into that piece which will make it a little longer.

while I agree for the first time expensive mod i would say a provari also. the falures were in the last batch of semi's about 4 months ago and ran around 5% with free replacement if you got one, they instantly stopped production until they figured out what was wrong.

the battery life is slightly shorter but not enough to go wow only half the time of my XXXX device. this is simply the nature of the chip pushing pure regulated DC output. with the PWM mods the battery isnt fired 100% all the time.

I notice about the time the semi shuts off the batteries will still work on the provari, but not for too much longer.. but the voltage of that battery under load on my mech is about where the provari would shut down normally anyways. right around 3.2-3.3 under load or the low side of 3.5 no load in the semi.

It should be noted that also using VW mode in most mods will have shorter life then in vv mod because of the constant recalibration calculations to maintain the wattage. using a high MAH will still last days.

I will never get rid of it becuase of the reliability but my provari sits now, I love this mod.

I will chime in here. I got my Semovar about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I have used it every day, and I love it!

I take my batteries out of my devices at night. The other morning when I put one back in the Semovar, I got that dreaded E3 error and thought I would have to send it back. I messed around with it in offline mode for a few minutes and changed the voltage by .1 volts, then turned it back on and it worked fine. From then on, I have been turning the device off before removing the battery and have not had any other issues.

The machining, especially with a Kayfun attached in "hybrid" mode is top notch, and it looks very very nice!

i have mine, it has taken the place of my 2 provaris, the Nivel chip is more functional, fit and finish are the same just more refined on the semovar, my semi matchs the kayfun exactly, i have the beta version on both. they are the same, but different, with the semovar beating the provari by just a hair for me.

Exactly same experience with me. It's a bit more versatile and matches my kayfun lite. I use the provari for work and the semovar at home. One thing I noticed is that the semovar with the same kfl uses more juice than the provari at the same voltages. I measured my provari at 987hz without a load and of course the semo is straight dc.

The Semovar is just a nice mod Its made well and dose what its supposed to. I don't see any one with buyers remorse with this one. Ive not seen anyone yet say it sucks I wish Id of got something else instead. Its a winner and a keeper. SvoeMesto is now in my top 3 best all around vaping equipment. They gave us a great mod and atty. Im looking forward to what else they might dream up.

Agreed buzzzlove - I think I may order myself a Kayfun Lite.

I thought about getting a KFL but Im pretty happy with the KF The only things I like small is my wife shes 4' 10.5" and my dog a 7lbs Chiwawa;-) Plus Im getting to the point where I only want something if its different in some way or another. When it comes to Mods and attys.
