By the way, here's the P3 Promo:

Looks pretty good. I love the new top cap and connection(s). Wow! Very nice. VW, .7 ohms on the bottom, 20 watts on the top, OLED, better connections (a huge plus as the Provari's really get gunked up after a while), a connections diagnostic (new), selectable color (nice), a much better screen with more info (IMHO), FLAT TOP CAP (TG). Check it out!

Great tube Bill and thanks for showcasing a great American company.

(About time we had a top-flight VV/VW US instrument! Thanks Provari.)

Good luck all.

:)

People...some of you might hate me for this...but I managed to try the P3 today :) Our local distributor had his beta version with him and I vaped on it for a while :) I didn't spend as much time as I wanted of course, so my assessment of it is incomplete. But the minute you hold it even with your eyes folded you realize it is a provari..the same weight and heft..it is a solid device and a sight to behold..excellent workmanship. I didn't have a chance to go through the menu in full, but the screen is marvelous..very smooth scrolling and very crisp. The guy told me it's pretty easy to navigate too and anybody should get the hang of it in no time. We couldn't get the VW mode though LOL...He said it still needs some tweaking here and there and he is continuously sending Provari any remarks he has. One annoying thing that I actually experienced while putting my kayfun on it to try it has to do with the top cap. The top cap consists of the outer ring and an inner nut that you screw your atty in and that is screwed from the other side on the contact pin. The nut caught on my kayfun and actually got stuck..that is to say when I attempted to unscrew the kayfun the whole nut was unscrewed from the contact pin on the device, and it took some serious effort to unscrew it. The guy said it happened with him a couple of times and that's why he doesn't screw his atties tightly, but he has already dropped them a line on this. As for the vaping experience, it is a Provari..and herein lies the real problem IMO. The provari is already up there with the stars..and it's really difficult to progress further in the vape quality. I vaped it at the same voltage that I use with my 2.5 ..4.2 volts. Granted I didn't try to push its limits and experiment with 20 watts, but somehow my mind is conditioned to use the Provari for "decent vaping"..not to generate huge clouds for instance. And I wanted to enjoy vaping on the P3 at my sweet spot. In short then, my preliminary assessment is that when it comes to what I call the bottom line...that is having a good consistent vape..nothing is new under the sun. It was the same as my 2.5. If you want to test new waters and go to higher wattage or higher voltage, or/and if you want to pamper yourself with all the new options and controls, the P3 provides you with what you need. Does this justify making a move to get it, while I have my Semovar???....not really sure..but yeah..if I have extra money I will definitely buy it..but I am not sure I will actively seek it..Of course this is based on my trying it in VV mode only, not in VW mode. Once I try the VW things might change.

From the reviews and other info I've been able to find I have to agree with you. I love my 2.5, it does everything within it's limits as or more accurate and dependable than anything out. VW adjustment means nothing to me personally, it's just a different way of getting to the same place. If I wanted to pay more for more power why would I stop at 20 when I can have 30. Plus the V3 is a smidge longer than the 2.5 and I personally like to keep it as short as possible. The initial ramp up feature seems kinda nifty to me but not worth paying a premium of a new pv for imo.

Every time a new version of anything comes out we have this conversation about is it enough to make the change, or not. The Provarinati have long defended their use of VV, and don't need VW. Fine, but VW is easier in many every day usages. I would sell my three P2.5's in a second, buy four P3's in a second, the second that they hit the market. If you've ever made a coil at .9 ohms and couldn't use it on your Provari, you can't wait to have a P3. This happens to me probably three times a month, and drives me nuts. The flat top alone is enough to get me to change. The flat top batteries that I use on my Semo, and can't use on my Provari are enough to get me to change. VW is enough, Different tubes is enough. The new 510 connection is enough. Different colored lighting is enough. OLED is enough for me too. 20 watts is perhaps, not enough, LOL! I rarely ever go over 12 watts in my RTA's. So, for me, and I suspect 95% of vapers out there, the P3 is way more than enough. The only reason I may not buy four of them is if the price point is north of $300. If that is the case, I'll only buy two of them. Not four....my two cents...

Actually I would definitely do it if I manage to sell my 2.5 at a reasonable price..let's say around 150, maybe 170 with the extension and kayfun ring. In that case an additional investment of $100 is definitely worth it..the only thing is that I am fond of my Semo and my Provari and it would break my heart to let them go :)))

One thing I forgot to mention in my quick and incomplete review is how much I respected the Semovar for coming up with a way to make all atties sit flush and connect with their simple but ingenious top cap!, while I had to go through a headache with the P3. I understand Provape wanted to have their own thing..but getting some inspiration from the Semovar can be good

The new Provari connection will allow for different connections far better than the 510 connection. Since the two rings can be removed, any device can be made to work like the Semo/3.1 hybrid connection. This is an amazing future for vaping eliminating the 510 connection and improving voltage regulation. One can get a good deal of voltage drop in an unmaintained Provari, and that one change can easily correct half of a normal voltage drop. The others occur in the internal connection and the battery cap. Looks like the internal is about the same, but is the battery cap different?

And it would be innovative if it works without a hassle. I am sure they will come up with something. But overall it must be a very solid device. Our distributor is selling his old provari. He wouldn't have done that if he didn't like the beta version better than his 2.5.

I've grown to like the fact that it is 23mm. There are a few 23mm RBAs that I'd like, and it's nice to have more choices when it comes to regulated mods. I can only think of The Eye that is a 23mm high end device as of now.

I, too, am a big fan of the 23mm APV. I use the Taifun GT as my main ADV platform. Me likee.

If they are going to go with replacable top caps, à la the Semovar, I'd like to see more top caps available initially not down the road.

While having no problem with the P3 being 23mm, or the flat top cap, I use stuff that will work better with a drip well, 19mm taper, 22mm taper, etc..

They really ought to take advantage of this feature and not just make it about hybrids although that'll be nice too.

Just pulled the trigger on The Eye. They've been out of stock for a while. I haven't bought a new APV since last October, so I was definitely due for a new one. I'll still buy the P3 when it comes out, though I may sell one of my 2.5's. I don't really need four backups. Three should be suffice, don't you think? My two cents, anyway...
