Yeah, I get it. Different strokes and all. Like me, I don't like mechanicals (other than to fire coils), or box mods, so I get what you're saying, my friend. On the other hand, I do like higher wattage tube mods at 23 mm, fully regulated, but that's just me. I'm seeing super subohm builds on clones everywhere now, and cloud chasing'itis. Talked with a guy last night who made a .02 ohm coil in preparation for an upcoming cloud competition. I explained that ohm meters less than 3 digits are generally accepted as off by .07 ohms. I mentioned this along with the fact that he's going to hit somewhere over 60 amps on his build, and he explained that he just wanted to see if he could do it. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot? Do what, make a pipe bomb for your face? Cloud competitions? Yeah, there are many changes going on in vapeland, and we may all very well lose as a result of it. Glad I make everything but my hardware, I'm going to need them, a lot of them, and probably soon!

I unfortunately have never got into building my own stuff, but I'm with you on all these changes ruining it for the guys that just want to quit smoking and have a good vape. All it takes is for one incident like the one Phil Busardo mentioned with the explosion.....

Its built with a real evolv dna20 board and evolv usb charging board... I never posted it in the modding forum, I was going to and then figured, who cares about my mod. :p

It does have a microusb charging port, so you can charge it internally. Its small and light since its made of plastic. Its like 3.5x2x1 (g/t), about the same size as a Vaporshark rDna give or take. We used a plastic box by vellman because since it was our first ever attempt, it would be easy to cut the plastic, the result in weight is impressively light. The 510 I used came from madvapes, and it sticks up kind of like an mvp.... so no flush mounting your atty, but again we used what we already had and what we knew would be simple and easy...it was built more for the experience and learning how and what not to do, not for the actual end result (if that makes sense). And we learned a few things along the way :)

The charging port I messed up real bad.... started dremelling in the wrong place, and it got worse from there.... the screen was cut too big, but its passable...the usb port looks like a 5 year old did it. :(

It vapes like any dna20, the 3400mah panasonic 18650B works fine since it wont pull more than its rated for. The switches are those traditional hana looking dome switches which are extremely uncomfortable to use (press) for any length of time, which is why you have to have a good big horn switch for the fire button, its a must...the domes are ok for the up/down, but next time the fire will have to have a better switch. I've got 2 dna20 and 2 dna30 boards, and have plans for a nice dna30 box..... we'll see ;)

There are 4 philips head screws on the back, and you could swap the 18650 battery in the field if you wanted/had to.. that to me is a must. Lipos might be more efficient, but if you cant swap I'm not interested. I vape a lot, easily go thru 2 18650's a day or more.

Those pictures were taken a couple weeks ago when we made it, all the other mods are in the picture as size comparisons. Honestly, the plastic box, yeah it feels plastic and cheap and all... but if you wanted a rugged, dont care if it gets scratched mod... man its impressive. Light, toss it around with the fear of scaring it up.... its very practical for daily use.

@bill, yeah 18350 futura......... red accents (thanks E) still in my opinion one of the best vapes, high end and rare mods out there.... I have never seen another one in person ever. And people ask me what it is all the time, and its usually the same reaction... "Its a Semovar" ... "oh ok" ... "Its made by SvoeMesto, the guys who made the authentic Kayfun" ... "Cool, can I check it out..." LOL

@tamer, nah I am going to keep posting pictures of my Futura until I make you buy one! LOL :D

It's in moments like this that I regret being a political science graduate ...if I had any level of comfort with soldering I would have flooded the market with SX and DNA mods :D

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have to be honest, this might be easy for me to say since I have been messing with electronics pretty much my whole life, soldering is really easy.... get yourself a decent soldering iron and some of those pre-boxed electronic experiment kits that are $5-$10, where you have to solder on the leds, caps, dioides and stuff.... its sooo simple......... once you gain your confidence and comfort, move to a box mod.... the hardest part of our build was size. If I would have put it in one of those enormous boxes I could have soldered everything together in half an hour or less..... we were just trying to fit everything in there without breaking it.... that was the hard part. soldering really is easy. A quick $20-$30 investment will get your feet wet and see if its for you.

Svoemesto in Germany was quick to respond to my problem and offered me to send the unit with copy of the email to address in Germany and they will make it right I will have a stop at the post office after work tomorrow!

Thankfully we have backs ups for back ups you know what im saying:vapor:

Thats great.......... they (SM) really are a great company, I so wish they would offer a user replaceable chip for the semovar........... how awesome would it be to see a newer chip to offer <1.0ohm support, >20w power!! Everything else is fine unless they can make it more energy efficient (longer battery life) which would be doubtful with whats on my wish list :D

have you considered the box fasttech sells? it comes with wires and buttons..not sure about the 510 connection though. I read somewhere that the 510s of fatdaddy are the best

Yeah I did... I watch a few reviews of the box, and it actually looks decent, even comes with the switches.... I almost ordered one, but thought nah... I wanted something a little more unique. I would do a mini, which they sell...but as I understand from the dimensions, you cant put a 18650 in the diy mini box, but you can in the fully assembled box.... one is like 3mm shorter than the other.

My son in law just got him a c'Hana clone from FT dna30... looks great, $49 for the box, got himself a VTC5.... he loves it. I played around with it, and I personally think the FT dna30 clone box overvolts at a given wattage.... 15w on his FT box burns more like 20+w on my dna30............ maybe I'm crazy, but it sure seemed like it.... But looks wise, they are spot on in my opinion.

Phone Guy,

Didn't know if you've seen this, but here's a thread that HOPS started regarding the FT build; http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/585616-building-hana-style-mod-fasttech-enclosure-looking-tips-tricks-suggestions.html

I'm pretty sure that was where I found the youtube video review of the enclosure.... I personally think its a bargain at $20 + $55 (for the dna30+usb charger) to build a real dna30 box mod.... $75, cmon..... if that were posted in the classified it would sell in 5 minutes.

I follow this thread on an hourly basis, I just don't have a lot to add. I'm boring. I have the best gear, imho, for me. I make the same coil, wick the same way, charge the same batteries every day, vape the same juice, in the same GT's every day. Boring......!

I've been focusing on the juice lately, not so much the hardware. I will post pics when I get this darn thing. Best to you!
