This is a good deal but I'm a little nervous with all the AW counterfeits I've been reading about.

Always a concern from everywhere, practically. I checked the vendors 99% satisfaction rate with about 7,00 0 sales in the last year. I also read ever single negative comment over the last year and there was one about fake AW batts. However, there were about 25 happy AW battery comments, so I think they're probably real. They're not here yet, so we shall see. The great thing about EBay and PayPal is that you can also get a resolution to any problem as a buyer, at least that has been my experience. I just hate to buy things like wire, wick, batteries, etc. from vape shops, as they are so over-priced. Example, I buy Temco wire for $7.60 delivered from eBay (100'). It's 25% - 200% higher everywhere else. So, whatcha goin' to do? Just sayin'....

Well mine showed up today. I must say that I may do business with InTaste again. Since they take the VAT tax off it came to $204 shipped to the USA. Add to that it got to my house in 3 days and I'm pretty impressed. I also got the 14mm adapter so the Kayfun mini looks pretty sweet on top. Unfortunately the Panasonic batteries I ordered are taking forever to get here from Utah. I did find a place in town that had 18650's but they are protected batteries and just a hair too long with the adjustments set all the way back. Threw one in though and this thing vapes really nice. I have the mini on with some Apple Bourbon Tobacco from the Vapor Chef. Set at 9.8 watts transformed this juice. I also got a KFL+ this week. Will be building it at work tonight and trying some HOL El Toro Puro's.

That's a great price. I vape at 12 to 15 watts pretty regularly, and all my batteries get such severe voltage drop with about 30% left in them (according to my nitecore i4 charger).

Vaping at lower watts really helps with that :(

I've never heard of that HOL el Toro puro juice. Any good?

One day I'll be able to hit 11-15 watts when my coil building skills get better.
House of Liquids El Toro line is some nice tobacco juice. Funny thing is that when I smoked I would smoke menthol. The HOL juice is extracted from good tobacco lines with no flavoring added on the ones I have tried. I really enjoy them much the same as I used to enjoy a good cigar. Good throat hit, strong tobacco taste and that lingering over like a cigar. Benefits from a week or so steep. They are in England and if you spend over 35 Euro they ship for free. Always get mine in two days after they post the tracking.

How about the best of both? ProVari with the Nivel chip.

How similar are the two designs?
I have not seen a provari in the flesh but things like the clear screen cover fire button and interface seem uncannily similar to the semovar from casual observation.
Is the nivel board you used for the provari the same as the semovar?

The Semovar Nivel board is different from the modders board version I used. The Semovar board has pre-made contact points for the battery and connector. It also has a tact switch for a button similar to the ProVari. The modders board lacks these and uses wire instead.

The screen fits perfectly in place, I replaced the button with a small tact switch and epoxyed it in place

I fabricated a positive battery contact from a broken SVD (that will eventually be fitted with a DNA 30) .

And while it's a tad off center, it works fine with both nipple and flat top batteries.

You will have the Proverati up in arms!;)
Nice job, I cant resist modifying stuff either, that's why I got the Semovar, wanted something that I was satisfied with from the outset.
Funny you should mention the SVD it was that piece of kit that encouraged the purchase of the semovar. [well that and the top quality of the Kayfun pluses i have!]
My Svd is still going strong but I did not like the look of the tank threading on it, looks like something soft with plating that won't last too long.
Love the fact that the semovar is completely strippable and as nice inside as out.
So for the time being no need to spark up lathe or mill!
Just got to fight the urge to get kayfuns for all my fave juices [$$!!!!!8-o]

It wouldn't be the first time I've been put on blast in this forum.

Anyway, the ProVari was given to me for free (previous owner broke it, and didn't feel like fixing it), and I already had the Nivel laying around. 45 minutes of my time and I have a working mod that I like better than the original.

Phil Bursado Review of the Semovar is up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrBgP5WkoEQ

I saw that review and he kind of reamed the Semovar, or at least the Nivel chipset. I thought it was impossible to create a more convoluted menu system than the ProVari, but they some how managed.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but with a Semovar you get essentially get a ProVari with Variable Wattage and a more convoluted menu system.

I find the Semovar itself very asthetically pleasing, but the Voltage Regulation appeared to be a little bit inferior to the ProVari, and if I had to deal with constantly hitting E2 or E3 errors while setting the device I'd throw it through my TV. I'd much prefer the menu to let you "set" the incorrect value and then error out when you fire, instead of throwing the error while you adjust and making you start all over again.

I have learned from the ProVari, that sometimes you can't take someone elses word for it, but there was nothing in that review that would compel me to sell my ProVari and get a Semovar and I am one of the most vocal proponents of variable wattage out there.

I disagree with this. I see it as a positive. Once you spend a little time with the menu it is very easy to move through. I would rather it error out then let you do something that would exceed the parameters of the device. I love that if I set it and it fires, it fires at what ever it is set at instead of firing at the max or min limit. The fact that it turns off after an error is more of a safety feature to me. One thing that was't mentioned is that the output is DC current, another plus.

Why wait until you fire the device to find out it will error out, this could happen a few times before you get it correct. On the Semovar you know when you get the error and can correct it right then, makes more sense.

To each their own I guess. I've had a ProVari since the beginning. It's been a great workhorse for the three years I've had it. I recently sold it as I just wasn't using it anymore. I love the Semovar. I use it every day with the Kayfun in hybrid mode. I love the Nivel chip. Most of the menu stuff isn't really necessary for the end user, but as a modder, I find several of its features quite helpful. That's why when I was given a broken ProVari, I put the Nivel chip in it instead of sending it back to ProVape. For me, it a marked improvement over the original. YMMV.

I'm looking at the pbusardo video of the Semovar and at time 47:42 I see the wierdest "DC current" signal I have ever seen. Definitely not the flat signal on the output of a ProVari or MVP. Better at 4, 5 and 6 volts, but definitely the flat signal we see with the ProVari.

As far as the menu, I guess I would rather have it error out and then let me continue to adjust. The whole "error and then exit to the off menu" so I have to turn it back on again would really tick me off.
