Browsed through the alien threads and tried a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. My problem is I was using my alien and drained the batteries more than I usually would (was out and didn't have my spares with me), when I put them on my nitecore d4 the voltage read 3.28. I was wondering what the cut off point should be as I feel this is to low and thought they might be a problem with the mod. Hope someone can share some light on this, thanks in advance!
The Alien will drain the batteries down to 2.8-2.9v. It's low, but well within the specs. Most of the batteries we use can be drained as low as 2.5v without causing damage to them.

..mine goes always down to 2.6 volts with the x4 coil head. Only use it with 41 watts now.

Problem is to find strong enough batteries anywhere - maybe the only ones suitable for much higher watts would be the Sony VTC 5 A but we find it nowhere in our 5-million-city.

Other reports say Sony sold this part of their production and the new producer fails to reach Sony's quality.

Ok thanks for the info, like I said I don't usually drain them that much on any mod, I usually pull them at about 3.5v. At least I know now its not stressing my batteries.

I was a little surprised with how low the cutoff was when I had the same experience and saw the voltage on the charger was way lower than I usually see. The only extra piece that's important is that if you're calculating your load with Watts law for regulated mods, you have to allow for that lower cutoff than the typical 3.2V we usually use. So there is a small reduction in that "safety factor" to remain within the CDR of your choice of battery. I never go high enough for that to matter, but it might be something to consider if you really push your batteries.

USPS delivered my Alien 220W today. It's fine other than the 15W minimum in TC mode. As a MTL vaper I usually set TC mode up to 400F and 10W. The Alien will only go down to 15W in TC mode. It's 6W to 220W in Watt mode. Anyone know the thinking behind that?

15W TC vaping will dry out my wicks in a hurry in TC mode on a Kayfun V2. I can set the temp lower but it constantly hits over temp cutoff. Maybe a higher resistance coil will let me drop wattage more.

Sure, I can run it fine in power mode at 10W, but I vape in TC mode on my Pico 75W and expected to be able to do that on the Alien and get longer battery life. I also ordered a Pico Dual that specs out at 1W-200W. i'm hoping that it doesn't have the 15W limitation in TC mode. Probably not, since the wattage spec is different than the Alien.

Anyone have a TC mode wattage workaround for the Alien 220W? I'm mostly looking for a 10W TC vape with longer battery life on dual 18650s. Looks like I can do that on the Pico Dual, but only with wattage mode on the Alien.

Best bet is to just lower the temp you want and the mod should just throttle back. Hitting temp protect isn't an error screen, it's just to inform you that temp control is working. If you still can't get a decent vape at a lower temp, then changing your build might help, but it really shouldn't be necessary.

I used to have this problem too but now vape at higher wattages & for the most part couldn't imagine vaping at ten watts haha. Let me know how you get on dude :)

yeah that's correct, smok devices that allow wattage adjustment in temp mode, go lowest at 15 watts.. seriously though if you are building your own coils, you should be able to make a good MTL coil that can handle 15 watts.

I use the nautilus vaporshark nickel coils at 20 watt and the mini triton watts up to 25, no issues at all.

The other option for smok that don't have watts in TC mode is the soft/min/normal/hard/max modes.. but on my koopor knight (a mini 2), the min mode on the 80 watt mod still fires over 20 watts every time..

Now i DO have a smok mod that let's you adjust watts in TC mode from 1 watt to 40, and it's the only one i know that allows you to do this.. it's called the osub 40w. You can pry mine from my cold dead hands.. i love that little mod.

I guess smok just don't think people buying 200 watt mods will be using them at 10.. sigelei don't even let you go under 10 watts for any setting on most of their mods either..

I've gone up to 20 with the Triton Mini coils but I am gonna try fire them at 25, I'm really curious haha :)

Personally I don't have an issue with it going as low as 15 watts but we gotta remember this device ain't supposed to be an mtl one!

Actually, I got my triton mini in a kit ("odyssey" kit)with a pegasus mini 50w mod, which has no watts control in TC mode at all! That fires them way too hard though. Aspire however, obviously think they are rated to 50 watts.. i don't agree. I have seen the pegasus firing them in the 40's every time.. so 25 and under is completely safe trust me. The coils are specifically included to be used as is with that mod. Again though, aspire are wrong on this one, 40+ watts is way too hot for these coils.. if you set it at a low temp, say 400 and no more, you still don't get any burnt nickel or cotton, it's just a hot vape.

if you are curious to what i find the perfect wattage for those nickel TC coils to be, it's 22.4.
Depends on the mod though..same with temp.. everything is calibrated differently.. What i mean is, that the 22.4 is pretty standard, as any mod these days is accurate there. but the TEMP has to be set differently even amongst same branded mods.. all due to tweaks and calibration, and a firmware release can change everything again too.

On smok the usual 420 faranheit can do it, if you set the coil correctly at room temp.

FWIW, if you can find the 0.3 ohm nautilus vaporshark coils anywhere, they are better.. no jokes, less watts and double the vapor of the triton mini coils, and a better, defined throat hit.. They are hard to find, i just snapped up the last 3 packets from evcigarettes, i am more limited where i search though as they have to ship internationally AND for a reasonable fee, which EV do. I can't find a single packet left in Australia.

On DNA, the right vape for the vaporshark coils is 18.8 watts at 430 F

I have bipolar & aspergers syndrome so don't worry I ramble more than I should too! I like things as logical an detailed as possible so it was appreciated :)

I was in the shop the other day an noticed the Alien is bringing out some really sexy looking colours!
There was a really interesting one I've never seen that was wood grain with red trims.

I got a tesla nano today and I've fell in love with it, I like it that much I went back to the shop and got two more batteries.
It's become my main setup, I've not even used any other mods. My alien is just sat on a shelf! For some people a 120 watt wouldn't be enough "can you use a cloud beast on it at 140 watts" some people would say.
Insane!

tesla nano is the best thing they have ever done... That mod fires faster than my DNA's. And i love how all the stuff is right on one page, no menu scrolling. It's clever. Only the weight could be a bit of an issue for some, but it really is a brilliant mod.. and for the price, a real steal! We must have similar tastes in mods :)

BTW tesla are very sensible only going to 120 watts with twin 18650's.. that's actually doable all day every day, even with high capacity batteries like vtc6 or 30Q. I chose to just put 25R's in mine, perfect.. no issues at all.

It's a great mod for sure & the weight ain't an issue for me at all! I still carry it around with me haha.
I gotta say the battery life is great too, I'm using 30qs in mine an it's performing great.
It's really good value as well, I expected it to cost loads. Was surprised when I got to the counter that it was less than I paid for my alien & most definitely a better mod.

It's rook years to find a mod I'll stick at and this is the one.

just got my Alien mod yesterday with matching BabyBeast tank..So far Im loving it! really like the easy reading display and ease to set up.. I can't comment as I don't use in mod charging and always charge my batteries in a separate dedicated charger..
Vaped my first full tank of juice at 75w and still have 3/4 battery left.. If any of you out there are considering this mod I would advise to get one.. you won't be disappointed!

My first alien was plagued with issues but I've had problems with every mod I've had from that shop! However I got one in black & green an it has been a decent mod. Loving the red an yellow btw!
