But, for what temperature and current do you design a hot spring?
To protect from a short circuit do yo design for the current of a pair of 16340 cells, or a high drain IMR 18650?
and if you don't pass current through the spring, what is the design temperature?
Just because you have one, will it work?
What are the advertised specifications of the hot springs in e-cigs? or is it HYPE?
Which of the mods in your avatar have hot springs?
I think I can speak for the rest of the coop members when I say that we can only aspire to some day achieve you level of superiority. We're all just humble vape-noobs who are truly thankful to have people like you to protect us from ourselves.

Thanks-I am just not one to take something only at someone's word when it seems I have a way to confirm or deny for myself.
What I would love and mentioned in the GV battery thread...if someone knew how to force a failure on a battery in one of these, I would chip in towards the cost. I want to know what happens when a battery vents or explodes in one. Explodes I think is pretty obvious, but venting...I'm curious. I just don't know how to make it happen. I am considering putting an 18650 in and taping the button down to see if it overheats and does anything.
What I want to know is, how can anyone who knows enough about electronic devices such that they could even design a mod (mechanical or otherwise), design something like this? Surely if they know enough to design a mod they know a thing or two about battery failures? How can this Chinese engineer knowingly design such a thing with no safety features for the sake of profit sleep at night?

umm, how about the almighty $
$$$ Old mighty has a vent hole in the bottom cap,,,, along with about the safest chip set circuitry deign there is, and also the button is a 2nd vent hole
so one on the bottom and one near the top = SAFE AS IT GETS, and a Hot spring to boot
