Chipotle.
They are identical in design, so discussions are primarily talking about the exact same thing.
Had the Modder not totally dropped the ball, and run out of his own inventory during his time of peak sales, many of us wouldn't have the clone.
So.....unless the thread is going to devolve into a back patting party amongst legit owners,......yeah, don't be that guy.
I agree 100% with your views on the product availability, It made me really sad to have such an awesome product be unavailable to the masses. Thus, I own two of the clones as well...but there is a clone specific thread so why not? Also, it appears they have expanded on their product availability so hopefully there will be some new authentic owners to talk to. The authentic is better, I'm sorry to sound that way but it just is - I've compared them side by side(is it $90 more than the clone better? That's up to you...). 510 threads are MUCH tighter and the button is machined with tighter tolerances, plus there is no worry of the dreaded "seam". The SMPL's I have are my ONLY authentic mods, I'm pretty much always a clone guy so please don't call me "that guy" :( I'll be sad.

From the looks of it they're under new management, for their sake I hope so...getting an answer from them about anything has been virtually impossible for quite some time, hopefully they're smart enough to toss some switches on some shorter tubes and sel complete mods in all sizes to all people.

Is there a list of atties that are *confirmed* to be working with this mod?

I just received my Tobeco Plume Veil and am afraid to use it, because no matter how much I screw out that 510 connector, it just backs right back into the threading when I insert and tighten the switch.

I've used my SMPLs with the following attys with no issues:

Mutation X
Hobo v2.1 (my preferred SMPL RDA)
Mephisto 2
Infinite CLT2
Dark Horse

I would take any "confirmed" list with a grain of salt. Any atty that works fine one day and has a worn delrin insulator at the positive post could potentially cause the 510 screw head to become flush or recessed. Keep a small flat screwdriver handy to occasionally ensure it's both tight and protruding. No list is required, only common sense and the ability to see a protruding pin.

no matter how much I screw out that 510 connector, it just backs right back into the threading when I insert and tighten the switch.

Um, don't do that. :) It's not adjustable. The 510 screw should always be tight. If it's loose, the center block in your build could become free spinning and short out. If your Plume isn't both tight and protruding, don't use it in the SMPL.

I got my SS SMPL and it works just fine with the Vulcan atty (legit.) I had to do my normal cleaning and take off some machining scraps from the 510 thread. I also took the switch apart and polished it a little and it's fantastic, albeit a bit heavy (which I prefer.) Mine was from Vapor Lair. I have a brass SMPL on the way now from VaporDNA and will report back.

You should always be ready.

Eh... kind of wanted copper anyway. I'd buy all of them except for the media blasted. My annual bonus hits in about two weeks... if anyone has them in stock at that time, I'll buy copper, SS, and brass. If not, I'll send my cash elsewhere. I'm not so enamored that I'll monitor vendor stock on a daily basis.

It's not just an Epic deal though... I've been ready to pull the trigger on an authentic Hobo v2 and Mephisto v2 only to discover I can't buy them. It's frustrating - especially when you can buy a reasonable approximation from China for like $10.

You may have a tough time finding a 7mm x 0.5 in any normal hardware store. Even our local machine supply center didn't have any so I got it next-day on Amazon. :2cool: Also got a die to clean up some problematic atties.

Seems unlikely you have an authentic SMPL with bad threads though, no?
Maybe all your atties are jacked. If it was me, I'd get chase the threads on one of your cheap atties first with a die, before touching your mod. If it threads in after that, time to chase the others.

Yep.
I see the rumors of "new management " were just rumors.

I received my brass SMPL from vapordna today. Better machining than the ss version from vaporlair. All attys fit without any issues. Damn jluc ! None threaded on at all??

I did have to chase the 510 on the SS and remove a machining booger or two to thread my attys on.

Got a pic? Perhaps we can get you sorted

My smpl from vapordna arrived today. I tried six or seven of my atties and none of them even come close to threading in. I'll have to pick up a tap tomorrow. [emoji34]
Are you using cloned atomizers? The 510 threads on all three of my SMPL's are by far the tightest of any mods I own, I personally like this as it ensures the best possible connection at the 510 threads but you need to have an atomizer that is high quality or at least machined very well. You may have to initially force one of your RDA's to screw down but so long as you're careful and go straight there should be no issues, I did this with all three of my authentic mods and never touched the threads with a tap. The reasoning behind this from my perspective is that they're likely using a brand new or close to new tap to cut the threads in the mods, if you have an atomizer that had the threads cut with a worn out die then the die may be slightly enlarged and cause a tolerance issue between the atomizer and mod. I had to gently force three Hobo clone bases on to my authentic SMPL's because of this, however my authentic Zenith V2 screwed right in to all three of them without force, I chalk this up to a lot of atomizer clones having worse 510 thread tolerance due to worn thread cutting dies.

Edit: The stainless was the tightest, it took a decent amount of force to screw the Hobo base onto it but once it was screwed in just one time it has been easy to install and remove it ever since. Many years ago I was a Machinist by trade and I was comfortable performing this small "forced install", I just went really slow and made sure to check the threads of both atomizer and mod several times while screwing it down. So long as you don't cross-thread it there shouldn't be much of an issue.
