Just got my matte black version from AngelCigs today. You can see a ring where they pressed the top piece into the tube, so not one solid piece. I really don't mind for the price.

Put my matte black Big Block 454 on there and am loving it.

I will say that the 510 was really tight and it took some messing around to get the 454 to seat all the way, but now that it's working, it's a sweet setup, and very discrete. I'm super happy.

This is my first mech mod by the way and I don't see any reason to look any further.

I've found that clone atty's are usually the culprit, and decided that, as a rule, any new atty I buy is automatically getting chased with a 510 die (7mmx0.5) before I ever attempt to thread it on one of my mods.

You chose wisely. :thumb:

That's the silly thing. My Big Block 454 is an authentic. In fact, my authentic Kayfun and authentic Russian 91% also were a problem. I'm pretty sure it was the mod that had a problem. May Tobecco Kayfun v4 clone fit fine, as did my clone Erlk.

I think I'll invest in a 7x0.5 tap and chase the threads on another SMPL should I choose to get another (which looks likely at this point!)

Good idea to buy both (tap/die)... the second anything runs into any drag it gets chased.

I have done A LOT of tapping and die-ing for work over the years (like, double-digit hours of quality time spent with each) and only once considered (but didn't know the diameter and thread pitch of a 510) to tap or die my attys and mods. Duc, you are a god among men. I bow before you.

This mod is great. Will not work with a Lemo. I always screw the rba or tank on first then bring the bottom up to the battery. Carefull with spring loaded positive pin addy's. Easy to see how a short could happen if there was too much compression.
I've got 4 Lemo's and they work fine on my 2 clones & my authentic brass SMPL.

Well, shucks. :) You go too far, but I'm glad to help.

I have one of these on the way from fast tech.
I plan to use the samsung 25R batteries.
How will attys with non adjustable 510 go on it ?
Have a vertex v2 clone on the way and thinking about a kanger subtank mini.

The switch will adjust the height of the battery when you secure it to the mod.

Just remember that the center pin of the 510 connector on the atty must extend past the threaded shell of the connector. If not, the atty won't work on the SMPL.

I bought a black SMPL clone off eb*y about a month ago. $13.99 shipped to my door. I have no idea who it was made by (not A-mod because it has the epic logo). It had been my go to mod ever since I've owned it and it works like a champ. The pressed in top cap has become quite noticeable as you can see in the pics but for 13 bucks and the way it functions I'm not complaining.

I can't believe it has a pressed in top cap!?! What's so hard about making it one piece like it should be? Anywho, as long as it still works well for you. Mine was $18.70 or something like that and it's one piece. Here's a pic:

Looks good. I think I need the SS, black, and white ones to go along with my copper. I doubt my wife will think the same thing though.

On the painted ones, make sure the threads aren't painted. If they are, you'll want to remove the paint from the threaded areas. And thanks!
