Hi there. New as hell here. Just a few quick ones to start. I smoke captain black cigars right now, and yes, I inhale. I would like to try vaping as an alternative.

It is very confusing. I've been through the "best ecig for a new user" threads/article, and also the thread with people all arguing against all the products recommended in that thread, which has me more confused.

I think I have decided to get an ego-T tank starter kit. Unless anyone can give me pointers and reasons not to.

Should I order more liquid, more uhhhh....tanks with the starter kit, anything?

Where is the best place in Canada to get the kit for the best price?

That's it for now I think.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum! There is a Canada sub-forum that you can post in after you have 5 posts.

Many people like tanks and have no problems at all. Personally I think they're better for someone that's been vaping for a bit. If you have an issue, you're more familiar with what to look for. Tanks need to be cleaned (the atomizer), sometimes the wick needs to be adjusted if you have leaks or burnt taste.

Try the tank and get some cartomizers too. They're interchangeable on the ego battery. See which one you like better.

Welcome to ECF! Swedishfish has good advice as always. (Woo Hoo SF! You are getting close Veteran status!)

Replying to our comments here will count toward your first 5 posts. After that and an hour waiting period, The Canada group will be ready, willing and able to speak to issues specific to buying e-cig products in your Country.

Some people like the tanks and some don't. I recommend you also buy a normal 510 atomizer and drip tip for testing juices. And some Boge 510 cartomizers for clingy flavors you don't want in your atomizer and as a backup way to vape if you have atomizer problems.

Tanks generally like fairly thin juices with 30% or less VG. Some thinner 50/50's may work. 100% PG may be more prone to leaking. And in the cartomizers I usually use 20% or less VG. With drip tip and normal atty you can vape and PG/VG as long as it flows at least as fast as you vape it.

Thanks for the fast replies.

So should I get a regular ego then rather than the ego-t? Or since from what I am reading things all seem interchangable with the ego system. So get the original ego and some cartomizers?

Personally, I would. You can always pick up the tank atomizer and tanks if you want to try them out. There are good things and bad with all of them. The tanks are good because you can rinse them out to test out juice. But many people have issues with them.

We can all only speak from our personal experiences and preferences Nodnerb. It will all depend on what you think you prefer out of the pros and cons of each system.

I am still new so I don't have a lot of experience to tell you, but I'll share what I know.
I started with the 801 penstyle. That was a horrible decision for me. Its not really upgradable and I wasn't aware that I would need to constantly top off the cartridges or drip every 5 puffs or so, nor that I'd be constantly recharging one battery or another (one battery would last 2 hours).
I learned my lesson at that point and figured out a little better what I needed and wanted and read a ton of reviews and posts and videos and everything I could imagine. It is all about personal preference and need. It was pretty easy to narrow my choice down to the 501 or ego system as they are so popular and both can be upgraded and have many different options to try.
In the end I went with the Ego-T (type B) because I wanted a good long lasting battery and I didn't want to fuss with dripping or topping off, and I liked the volume the tank held. I also knew that if I wanted to try a cartomizer with the ego battery, I easily could without having to order another whole kit.

There are pros and cons to each setup, so you have to try to determine what is most important to you. It can be hard without any experience. The reason I went with the 801 penstyle first was because I was afraid the Ego would be too large, would look like a cigar, and wasn't lady-like enough. After using the 801 and struggling with it those reasons I *thought* were important to no longer were... I wanted something reliable and easy without a lot of fuss.

So as far as the "leaking" with the Ego T tanks... that seems to mainly be a problem of the past. They know now that using the silicone caps instead of the plastic caps works better. Also they sell replacement caps on the cheap (5 for $1.50) so that you can reuse your tank but you can have a fresh cap every time which also keeps a better seal and less leaking. And I don't know about anyone else but with the 100% PG juice I've had that stuff is so thin that if I hold the bottle that it came in upside down with the cap on, it'll leak out of that! So maybe try some juices that have up to 20-30% VG in them. (I've used the straight 100% PG in my tank and not had any leaks)

One battery lasts me all day and with the larger size tank on the type B, one filled tank lasts me all day as well. I like the ease of the use, but that's me. Also to fill the tank you just pour your juice into it instead of having to use syringes or different methods anything like that. Its super easy.
BUT I do also have my 801 to drip on to try flavors, so it serves a purpose and as a backup as well.

Hope something I've said helps you in some way instead of just mashing more confusion in your brain :D Good luck!

Personally I'd go for (and this is what I bought.... ) The Ego-T (type B) kit (with one SR and one LR atomizer-if your vendor gives you that choice-, empty tanks), extra tank caps, a couple cartomizers, and several small bottles of juice to sample.

I have the ego tank too and i do like the convenience of the tank. For me leakage wasnt really an issue and the 5 tanks that came with the kit were plenty for a while, just rinse out and reuse. I did find that i got a lot easier draw and more flavor with Boge 510 LR cartomizers so I switched to those instead of the tanks. Then I got some 306 little atomizers for taste testing and now I pretty much use just those. The flavor, warmth and hit i think are better. Waiting on some Resurrectors now too! I guess the point of all this is that if you get the ego tank, you might like the tank, you might not. But you can always do lots of experimenting in the meantime with other types of atties and cartos on your same ego battery to find out what suits you.

i got the ego-t and like some of the others here, hated the tanks (leaking, burnt taste, muted taste, etc), but LOVE the 1000mah ego-t batteries, as they are extremely well built and last a dang long time before needing to be recharged. i'd just get the batteries/charger and experiment with different atomizers/cartomizers (ego mega dual coil cartomizers are da bomb!), or get a regular 900mah ego kit.

Thanks again for all the helpful replies.

So I am now looking at the standard Happy ego from happyvaper.com. Could someone please help me with what to order with it?
So what cartomizers and/or atomizers do I need? Drip tips? Are the cartridges pre filled? When I go to the cartridges section it is a long page of what seems like random parts to me. I was almost set with my order I thought, then I went to get some extra e liquid and all of them say they are nicotine free. Do I need to order somewhere else to get nicotine liquid? What about the stuff that ships with the kit, is it nicotine free?
Still totally lost here.
