Thank you for your post, I appreciate it.
My life long friend who introduced me to e-cigs and this forum lived and worked in Afghanistan for almost 3 yrs. We would talk via skype two or
three time a week. We discussed many things about Islam and Muslims living there. She was required to cover her head and also had to wear shirts that went over her hips (luckily she doesn't have any, she is 5'1 and 100 lbs LOL!!), she and her husband and/or coworkers had to travel in armored SUVs with a "chase" car following so that if the SUVs were attacked they were to run to the chase car so they could get out of the area. She had to oversee men who were Muslim because she was their boss, many quit instead of having a woman tell them what to do. She had a very hard time. She knew personally of a woman who was stoned to death for bringing dishonor on her family (she wanted to marry outside the Muslim faith and wanted to leave the family and Islam), she experienced several bombings just 2 or 3 blocks from where they lived in Kabul. I could go on and on. We learned a lot together and separately about Islam. Islam is not just a "religion or faith" it is an all encompassing way of life. It dictates your political views, who you can or can not marry, what you believe in, who you can or will work for and on and on.
Having just typed all of that I can not find any common ground with people who believe in Islam. You either believe ALL of it or NONE of it, that is the way it is. In Christianity there is the same belief, meaning you believe ALL of the Bible or none of it. However, Christianity does not dictate how to beat your wife, how to stone a woman to death who brings dishonor on the family. Christianity does none of this. I have never agreed with people who say Islam is a religion of peace. Not from where I stand and not from what I know, will I ever believe in this statement.
