I came across this article from the Wall Street Journal concerning how nicotine is not dangerous.

"Public health officials are backing away from recommending against the long-term use of nicotine gum, lozenges and patches. The Food and Drug Administration is considering whether to eliminate the 12-week warning and instead recommend nicotine-based quit-smoking aids for extended—perhaps even permanent—use."

Chew On This: Sticking With Nicotine Gum for the Long Haul

Do the anti's even know what they are against? It seems to change from day to day.

There's no doubt that nicotine is addictive and anything addictive can become a problem - not necessarily dangerous. Nicotine is an anti-inflamatory and a few studies in Switzerland have shown the arthritis patients that smoke are better able to handle the pain and the heaviest smokers do the best - however, since the downside of smoking (according to medical authorities) is greater than any upside of the anti-inflammatory effects - you have to dig to find such studies - iow, they are not promoted widely because of the frenzied anti-smoking campaigns by those who know what's best for us.

Thank you for the article.

The most amazing thing was that about 1/3 of the COMMENTS about the article discussed e-cigarettes ! It almost seems like a lot of the world has finally figured out that they work.

Now what we need is an EDITORIAL in the Wall Street Journal praising them, or at least suggesting they not be banned.

We can always hope.

By the way, I know A guy who's been on Nicorette gum for several years. Still not smoking.

Also, when someone who quit years ago sees my PV they usually say "I wish they'd had those when I was quiting. It would have been SO much easier ! "

I personally believe the benefits of nicotine use, at least in moderation, far outweigh the minimal risks.
There are more and more studies coming out all the time suggesting numerous potential benefits from nicotine use.

This is why I have absolutely no intention of ever going below the 12mg strength juice I've been using for the last 21 months.

That's an idea. Maybe we can start bombarding editors of all the big newspapers with letters.

Have Kristen write an editorial. She's the only one that's good enough to get past the editor's knife...
